Chapter 115: Chapter 115: The Legendary Mysterious Fire Mage Reappears

"Absolute Defense—Perfect Shield Counter!"

The Ant King struck with all its might.

BAM!

A terrifying force exploded from the Shield—the Ant King’s own power.

THUMP THUMP THUMP!

Sent flying by its own power, the Ant King tumbled several times before coming to a stop.

Everyone froze when they saw this.

Then, they burst into cries of amazement.

"Holy shit! That was so strong!"

"It actually sent the Ant King flying! I’d call that the ultimate Shield Counter!"

"Unbelievable! A Shield Counter is supposed to depend on the difference in power, right? This is just insane!"

The crowd cheered, thinking victory was within their grasp.

But Reina’s heart sank. She knew the odds were not in their favor.

That last blow had consumed half of her Fighting Spirit.

Although the Ant King had been knocked down by its own power, it hadn’t taken much damage.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Under the bombardment of Arrow Rain and Magic, the Ant King slowly climbed back to its feet, its eyes burning with fury.

It was seething.

THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!

The sound of rapid footsteps echoed as the Ant King charged again, this time with even greater ferocity.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Arrows struck the Ant King, only to glance off its incredibly tough carapace.

They couldn’t pierce its armor.

Reina saw that everyone else’s attacks were barely scratching it and knew there was no hope in continuing the fight.

"Retreat!"

she yelled.

The Ant King slammed viciously into the Shield.

BAM!

Reina used the force of the blow to launch herself back more than ten meters. She tossed her Shield aside, turned, and ran.

She let out a sharp whistle, and her warhorse galloped over.

She vaulted onto its back and spurred it into a frantic gallop.

"The rest of you go! I’ll lead the Ant King away!"

"Hya!"

Reina dug her heels in, and the warhorse beneath her instantly accelerated.

THUDDA-THUDDA-THUDDA!

She galloped swiftly away, angling off to the side of the camp.

CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!

The Ant King smashed through the obstacles in its path, giving furious chase.

Seeing this, the others quickly retreated.

In this situation, they had no way to continue the fight.

The Ant King was simply unstoppable.

It would take a squad of Tier Three Professionals, at least, to even have a hope of killing the Ant King.

As the Ant King chased Reina into the distance, the swarm of ants instinctively began to turn and follow it.

Suddenly, a Golden Anteater burst from the ground.

SWISH!

The Golden Anteater used its tongue to grab the bag on its back, dumping the contents all over the path. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Pungent-smelling plants scattered across the ground.

The approaching Iron-Eating Ants instinctively halted.

They hesitated, unwilling to advance.

In the blink of an eye, the Ant King had vanished into the distance. Having lost their leader, the Iron-Eating Ants milled about in confusion.

A moment later, they turned and gathered around the remaining few Tier Two Iron-Eating Ants.

"Shadow Attendant, let’s go."

Li Wei emerged from the forest and climbed onto the Golden Anteater’s back.

The Golden Anteater gave chase, speeding in the direction the Ant King had gone.

Intercepting the ant swarm had been Li Wei’s handiwork.

Now that the Ant King was isolated, it was the perfect time for him to make his move.

Outside the mines, Li Wei could fly. Even if a single strike failed to kill the Ant King, he could easily retreat.

After a long chase, Li Wei finally spotted the Ant King and Reina.

Reina’s warhorse was gone.

She was using the surrounding terrain to desperately dodge the Ant King’s attacks; her situation was critical.

Seeing this, Li Wei subconsciously scanned the surroundings.

’Is Orn around?’

The memory of their last encounter was still fresh.

BAM!

Reina was struck by the Ant King and sent flying more than ten meters, crashing through two large trees before she finally stopped.

"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH!"

Reina’s helmet fell off, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.

She struggled to her feet, her expression grim as she watched the Ant King stalk toward her.

’Looks like Orn isn’t here this time,’ Li Wei thought.

Li Wei’s cloak turned red, and a blue light emanated from within.

WHOOSH!

He soared into the sky.

Raising his right hand high, he gathered a massive amount of the Fire Element in his palm, coalescing it into a Fireball.

The Fireball shifted from red to orange, then to a deep orange, resembling a small, blindingly bright sun.

Cradling the small sun, Li Wei flew toward the Ant King.

CRASH!

Reina dodged the Ant King’s attack, but the massive tree beside her exploded from the force of the blow.

The Ant King turned its head and looked at her.

Saliva dripped from its mouth.

DRIP!

The saliva hit the ground, corroding the stone beneath. The rock melted, releasing wisps of acrid white smoke.

Reina gazed at the incomparably powerful Ant King before her, a look of grim resolve forming in her eyes.

She was about to unleash the hidden power within her.

It would come at a price, but she no longer cared.

FLAP! FLAP! FLAP!

Suddenly, the sound of a cloak flapping violently came from mid-air.

Reina looked up to see a figure in a red Magic Robe appear in mid-air.

A blue light flashed over the Ant King’s body.

The next second, the Ant King’s body flew uncontrollably into the sky.

The Ant King struggled with all its might. The blue light surrounding it quickly faded, its ascent slowed, and it began to descend.

Li Wei threw the Fireball in his hand.

The Fireball shot toward the mid-air Ant King.

Reina watched as the mysterious, red-robed Mage in the sky reached out with his right hand as if to grasp the Sun itself.

Then, a dazzling small sun appeared in his palm.

The small sun shot toward the Ant King.

The Ant King swung its forelimbs, striking at the Fireball.

KA-BOOM!

In an instant, the Fireball erupted with terrifying power, expanding violently to engulf everything around it.

A powerful shockwave radiated from the mid-air explosion, forming rings of vapor that flattened the trees below.

A furious gale erupted. With the explosion at its epicenter, trees toppled in all directions, radiating outwards.

Within a diameter of more than ten meters at the center of the blast, all the trees had vanished, leaving nothing but scorched earth.

Blinded by the intense light of the explosion, Reina squeezed her eyes shut and turned her head, not daring to look directly at the blast’s epicenter.

Her face was a mask of pure shock.

Her mind reeled with disbelief.

’What level of expert is he?’

THUD!

The sound of a heavy object crashing to the ground echoed from the center of the explosion.

Reina forced her eyes open.

She saw the charred body of the Ant King crash to the ground, grievously wounded.

More than half of the Ant King’s body had been blasted to pieces, its wounds charred black.

The powerful Life Force of its species kept it from dying completely.

"HISSSSSS..."

The Ant King tried to summon its underlings for protection, but there were no Iron-Eating Ants nearby.

It was now an unknown distance away from its swarm.

As the flames dissipated, Li Wei saw the Ant King struggling to rise from within the smoke, and his expression turned to one of surprise.

’I can’t believe the Ant King is still alive.’

’Its Life Force is truly astounding.’

’But that’s as far as it goes.’

Li Wei reached out a hand and, from a distance, used his Object Control Skill.

A blue light enveloped the Ant King’s body, hoisting it into the sky.

The Ant King tried to struggle, but its legs had been blown off. With only a few shattered limbs remaining, it was unable to exert any Power.

Reina watched, stunned, as the once-invincible Ant King was grievously wounded by the mysterious expert in a single blow, then carried away into the sky.

She was utterly shaken.

’Who is he? He’s so powerful!’

The ability to fly, grievously wounding the Ant King in a single strike, and carrying it away while flying...

All of this completely upended Reina’s understanding of Mages.

She had once thought Mages were mysterious and powerful.

But after being tempered in the crucible of war and witnessing the true capabilities of Mages...

...she had come to feel that Mages were not so different from other Extraordinary Professionals.

In her eyes, Mages as a group had lost their mysterious aura.

But today, it was as if she had entered a new world, one where she was witnessing a much deeper level of mystery.

The true mystery of the Mage!
