Chapter 878: Dangerous

"Come, I wish to introduce you to someone." Anna smiled.

She gently grasped Adam’s arm and led him to where Kaspar York was patiently standing.

The moment Adam saw this old man, he could immediately tell that he was up to no good.

Thanks to the white lotus boosting his observational capabilities after each advancement, he could tell that despite Kaspar York showing a kind and gentle smile on his face, there was a craftiness hidden deep beneath.

Noticing this, Adam’s lips curled into a mischievous smirk.

"Adam, this is Magus Kaspar York," said the crimson-haired princess. "He is a Court Magus of the Ignisra Kingdom. He is also the one who taught me the arcane arts in my youth."

"A Mana Vortex Magus?" Adam arched an eyebrow.

Although there were no mana fluctuations emanating from the old man, Adam could tell just by his presence alone that he was of the same arcane station as him.

"Not bad," he added.

Kaspar York’s brows furrowed a little, but the smile on his face did not falter.

It took him centuries to arrive at the grand station of the Mana Vortex Rank.

Yet, the youth standing before him, who was only a fraction of his age, had said those words so condescendingly.

If Kaspar was being honest, Adam’s attitude and tone had struck a nerve.

"The Dark King!" said the old man with a ’sincere’ smile. "From the Southern Federation to the Acadian Empire, I have heard of your name and your legendary exploits."

He placed his right hand over his chest and offered a light bow. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person."

Adam’s brows furrowed. Right! Anna and her entourage visited Moon City and even the Clover Academy! I hope that they didn’t...

"Ah, did you go to Moon City to look for me?" He feigned ignorance.

"Yes." Anna smiled. "We went to Clover Academy and even met the Headmistress there."

She paused for a moment before adding, "She says that she and the whole of Moon City are very proud of you."

Adam’s heart turned cold, but he didn’t let it show on his face.

For a brief moment, he felt like skeletal claws had suddenly materialized all around him, digging into his flesh and pulling him into the depths of misery and hopelessness.

"...Ah, wonderful!" he smiled brilliantly. "I wonder if Headmistress Godfrey said anything about coming to Ravenfell for the tournament?"

Anna shook her head. "Unfortunately, she won’t. She said she is very busy."

"I see..." Adam nodded.

He turned his attention back to Kaspar York. His lips formed a light smirk as he stepped forward and offered a handshake.

Kaspar gazed at the youth’s outstretched hand with a light frown.

"I don’t know how it’s done in Europa, but out here, in the Ulier Continent, this is how we Magi greet each other," Adam lied through his teeth.

The greetings between Magi were the same everywhere in Tron. It was similar to how aristocrats greeted one another.

Regardless, Kaspar chose to indulge the youth anyway. "Very well, then." He firmly clasped Adam’s hand.

But the moment he did...

His entire worldview changed.

He suddenly found himself standing on a dark plain littered with corpses. These corpses belonged to humans, elves, orcs, trolls, ogres, goblins, and magical beasts.

There were thousands of them!

Kaspar felt a chill crawl down his spine.

What is this... an illusion?! He screamed inwardly.

Streams of blood flowed between the corpses, turning the landscape a bloody hell. This was a realm that was dominated by savagery and malice.

Suddenly, he found a figure in front of him dressed in a pristine white robe.

Kaspar’s eyes trembled.

In this land filled with death and darkness, Adam was seemed like the only ray of hope—an angel of light, dressed in white.

But the fact that he was standing atop a mountain of corpses, staring at him with a cold smile, told him that the raven-haired youth wasn’t that ray of hope at all...

He was the harbinger of death!

Kaspar felt like his heart had stopped beating for a moment. When Adam’s dark eyes locked onto his, he forgot to even breathe.

He is no mere boy! Kaspar screamed inwardly, instantly changing his viewpoint on Adam.

He... he is dangerous!!

Only now did he realize why they called him the Dark King!

Suddenly, a gentle voice drifted into his ears and snapped him out of his, well, whatever he was in.

"You don’t seem to be doing too well," said the raven-haired youth with a smirk.

Anna had a slight frown on her face, her eyes flashing with concern. "What is it? Are you alright?" She asked her protector.

Kaspar hurriedly retrieved his hand away Adam’s grasp. He turned to the Princess and smiled, "It’s nothing, it’s nothing."

But Anna knew it was not nothing.

She realized that Adam must have done something to him. Most definitely not a harmless prank as she could see lingering fear in Kaspar’s eyes.

The princess was about to ask Adam what he’d done when suddenly she sensed a presence near her.

"Hmm?" She turned around and lowered her head.

There, she saw an adorable little chubby cat glancing at her with innocent and beady topaz eyes.

Anna’s heart melted. "Whose cat is this?"

Valerian hissed, waving his paw menacingly. "I am not a cat!"

He darted toward Adam and scrambled up his shoulder in a flash. "Brother, brother! Who is this woman? You seem... different around her."

As Adam’s familiar, Valerian could feel his emotions to a certain extent. That’s why he was surprised when Adam displayed such feelings towards this crimson-haired stranger.

The only other person Adam had such familial feelings for... was Berger.

"Little Val." Adam gently rubbed the young dragon’s head. "This is my sister."

"Woah..." Valerian’s mouth was agape.

So this is the one Brother used to tell me about, he wondered. frёewebηovel.cѳm

He turned to Anna, gazing at her in a cute manner. Then, he reached out with his furry hands and called out, "Sister! Sister!"

Seeing this, Anna’s heart melted even further. She couldn’t help but pick the little guy up and cradle him in her arms.

"He is so adorable," she said with a gentle smile as she tickled Valerian’s tummy.

Adam smiled warmly, but in the depths of his dark eyes, something strange flickered.

"Anna, I wish to show you something. Why don’t you come with me?" He asked, his voice calm but firm.

The crimson-haired princess arched an eyebrow. "Now?" She thought for a moment before shrugging. "Sure."

"Great!" Adam grinned. He turned to his dear familiar and instructed, "Val, let’s fly out of here."

"Myu!" Valerian displayed a thumbs-up.

He leapt off Anna’s arms and landed gracefully on the ground. Then, under her stunned gaze, he transformed into a winged panther.

To her, Valerian was no longer adorable...

He was menacing!
