Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 708: Journey North
Adam walked towards the western gates of Ravenfell, taking in the scenery around him.
After all, it would be a very long time till he returned to the city. Although the time it would take to deal with Umbra Thieves wouldn't be long, Adam never planned to return to Ravenfell immediately after.
He was going to travel to the Southern Federation straight from there!
As for his duties as the Lord Commander of the Black Legion?
"Haha!" Adam laughed just thinking about it. "What a funny joke!"
About an hour later, when he finally arrived at the towering iron gates, he saw Raidon standing near the entrance along with the youth's mount, Luna.
"My Lord!" Raidon frantically called out. "Are you sure this is wise? The moment you leave these gates all by yourself, the Lord Marshall will be made aware of it. Needless to say, she will be furious!"
Adam took the reins of Luna from the man while smiling. "Oh? So you haven't reported to her already?"
"Of course not!" Raidon expressed matter-of-factly. "The Black Legion answers to its Lord Commander only!"
Adam's smile deepened. "Not bad."
With a light jump, he effortlessly mounted Luna. As he stroked her mane, he gazed at Raidon and stated, "Don't worry about me. I won't be going alone. If Lady Benton questions you, tell her I've taken two of Patriarch Flynn's men with me."
Raidon deeply looked at Adam and then struck his chest in salute. "Understood, my lord."
"Hyah!" Adam urged Luna to ride through the western gates.
The horse moved fast and swift, and within a few seconds, the towering gates and the high walls of the city had now almost disappeared behind them.
Adam was slightly taken aback. "You're quite fast, aren't you?"
Suddenly, a gray light flashed and Valerian emerged from the youth's spirit sea. He sat in front of Adam and started to gracefully lick his paws. "Not as fast as me."
Hearing such a response, Adam couldn't help but chuckle as he ruffled the fur on the little dragon's head, much to the latter's protest.
"Who can be faster than a dragon?"
"Hmph!" Valerian raised his chin, his eyes narrowing into crescent-shapes. "You are not ignorant, after all, Brother."
Adam pinched Valerian's cheeks while lightly reprimanding him. "You cheeky little bugger! Is that how you talk to your elders? Want me to reduce your monthly allowance?"
"Myu!!" Valerian put on a menacing front, trying to fight back. But the moment he heard about his allowance being reduced, he turned docile.
"You're right, Lord Brother. Please forgive me. It will not happen again!" The young dragon prostrated.
Adam shook his head and chuckled at the little guy's antics. Suddenly, he raised his head, looking sideways. His eyes narrowed and he murmured, "They're here."
Several minutes later, two figures riding on horsebacks approached him from the distant forest.
"Slow down, Luna," Adam instructed his mount.

The horse slowed down, just enough for the other two horses to catch up with her. The ones riding these horses were figures draped in black cloaks. Both rode on either side of Adam, and continued to journey north together.
Adam looked to his left and muttered, "Master of tracking." Then, he looked to his right and added, "Master of infiltration."
His lips curled up into a cold smile, "Are you two ready to burn the Umbra Thieves to the ground?"
The two figures removed their hoods, revealing themselves to be none other than the Agents of the Twilight Brotherhood, Kael and Liriel.
These two Magi were perfect for the mission that Adam had been given. Liriel was an expert at infiltration, forging documents, and disguises. Whereas, Kael excelled at urban tracking.
"Let's not completely burn it," Liriel said with a chuckle. "We need to save enough space for the Brotherhood to establish a few safe houses."
Adam smiled, "You're quite confident in taking down the Umbra Thieves, eh?"
"Well, we do have three Councilors Of Ravenfell on our side, don't we?" Liriel asked in amusement. "And we also have you."
To which, Kael nodded in acknowledgment.
Adam shook his head with a smile, "I'd like to stay away from this as much as possible."
"Oh?" Liriel was intrigued. "How come? Do you have something else planned?"
Adam's smile turned mysterious. "Something like that."
He then switched subjects and stated, "I hope you both have made all the preparations. Once the Umbra Thieves are taken care of, we can fully focus on the Cult of Bones then."
Liriel nodded seriously. She then retrieved three items from her satchel that hung around her shoulder. She gave one to Kael, and the other to Adam. While she kept the last one to herself.
Adam gazed at the item in his hand with a slight frown. "This…"
"It's made from real human skin," Liriel casually explained.
"Don't tell me…" Adam glanced at the elf with an incredulous expression. "You expect me to wear this? Forget it, I'll just cast an alteration spell."
"This is more efficient," said the elf. "It's been enchanted to a high degree. Even a Rank 3 Magus wouldn't find anything amiss. Not unless they were proactively looking for it, of course."
She paused for a moment before adding. "And I've cleaned them. Thoroughly."
Adam was impressed. "Not even a Mana Vortex Magus can find faults in it, eh?" He looked at Liriel and praised, "You really are an expert at disguises."
Liriel smiled smugly. Then, she retrieved several parchments from her satchel and handed them to Adam and Kael.
"Make sure to study them properly. These will be our new identities for the foreseeable future," she said solemnly.
Adam nodded. He then looked ahead, towards the north. "I can't wait to get this over with and finally go south."
"South?" Liriel asked with a raised eyebrow. "Is that where you're from?"
Adam smiled, "Yes. The south is where my home is."
But for now, his journey would take him to the north of the Acadian Empire, to a place considered by many to be civilization's furthest reach.
It was a city of cutthroat mercenaries, vicious pirates, and evil dark Magi. It sat on the storm-wracked coast of the Ulier Continent where jagged cliffs and treacherous reef claimed the lives of many.
A nod to its lawless nature and the wreckage-filled waters surrounding it, it was given the nickname The Shattered Port.
This was the City of Blackshore!
