Right at that moment, Sabrina Benton chimed in with a stern look on her face. "Count Constantine, apologize to the councilor this instant."

"Ah, yes, of course." Adam gazed at the old man with a taunting look in his eyes. "Forgive me, Lord Ballard, for insinuating that you might die barking at a dog."

"This motherfu—" Ives had had enough. However, Sabrina Benton coldly interrupted him.

"Councilor Ballard, need I remind you where you are?" She said in a flat tone. "Please show some restraint. Quarreling with a child is the last thing expected of a Councilor of Ravenfell."

She then gazed at Adam and reprimanded, "And you, Count Constantine, would do well to show proper etiquette towards those of higher station."

Adam looked at her deeply before bowing slightly. "You're right, my lady. I am not well-versed in all these matters. So, please forgive me."

Sabrina Benton nodded, before continuing. "For this upcoming battle, you and your legion are tasked with something very important."

She paused for a moment before speaking in a grave tone, "You are to infiltrate the enemy stronghold and find an opportunity to open a path for the main forces to enter. Can you do it?"

Adam nodded confidently. "Yes, I can."

Sabrina Benton looked at the youth with approval. "Very well then, choose a small team from your legion. You will head out before the main forces and sow chaos within their stronghold. I am giving you full autonomy in how you operate."

Adam interjected, "With all due respect, my lady, I will not be needing a small team. I can do it all by myself."

At once, this response elicited a collective gasp from the people within the room. Some thought that he was being outright cocky, while others thought he might just be able to pull it off consdering his battle records.

Sabrina Benton's eyes narrowed. "Count Constantine, there is a thin line between confidence and arrogance."

"…I am quite confident in operating alone, my lady," said the youth after a brief pause.

He was having trouble thinking whether the woman wanted to send people with him because she cared for his safety, or because she wanted to keep an eye on him.

Adam doubted it would be the latter. He knew Sabrina Benton to be a highly professional woman when it came to handling the matters regarding Ravenfell.

Sabrina Benton deeply looked at the youth and spoke authoritatively, her tone leaving no room for disobedience. "Count Constantine, you will infiltrate the stronghold with a small team."

She paused for a moment before adding, "I shall give you the leeway of deciding who will be in this team with you. Is that understood?"

Adam deeply looked at her before nodding. "Understood, my lady."

For the rest of the duration of the meeting, the three councilors who would be participating in the battle discussed among each other their plan of action.

Yet, during the entire time there was no mention of the place where the Umbra Thieves' stronghold was located. This was done for obvious reasons.

After less than an hour, the meeting was concluded and everything discussed. Adam was one of the first people to exit the room, with the Captain of the Black Legion following closely behind him.

It was a breath of fresh air for Raidon to witness his Lord Commander standing up to—and even insulting—the councilor he disliked the most.

Truth be told, Ives Ballard and his family were disliked by the vast majority of Ravenfell because of their rude personalities.

To see Adam taunt him was a wonderful experience for Raidon, and surely for several other aristocrats in the meeting.

"My Lord," the towering, burly figure called out to him respectfully. "Have you decided who you're going to take with you?"

Adam thought for a few moments before asking, "Raidon, I want you to be honest with me. What is the forte of the Black Legion?"

"Extermination," Raidon replied matter-of-factly.

"Yes, but how?" Adam pressed, seemingly trying to enlighten his second-in-command. "Surely, not through assassination, yes?"

Raidon hesitated before answering, "We excel on the battlefield, my lord. Not in the shadows."

"Precisely." Adam nodded. "Now tell me, who amongst our brothers flourishes in the shadows—in the silence?"

Raidon once again hesitated before replying, "…I cannot think of one, my lord. That is not the basis through which we recruit members."

"Excellent," Adam beamed. "I give you full reigns to command the Black Legion while I go infiltrate their stronghold, understood? Good man!"

Raidon was dumbfounded. Did he just answer his own question? Wait a minute…

"But, my lord, the Lord Marshall has instructed you not to go on your own!"

Adam glanced at Raidon with a playful smile, "Hush, hush, Lord Captain of the Black Legion. Who says I'm going to go alone?"

With that said, he walked out of the building, leaving behind his parting words. "Don't let me down, Captain! Oops, I mean, Acting-Commander! Haha, farewell."

Raidon stood there in a daze, not sure about how to react. His Lord Commander just didn't seem to care about the orders of the Council of Seven!

Harbor Quarter.

In the office where the Flynn Family operated out of, managing all of their businesses, Brigham Flynn barked out orders to all of his trusted people, Magi and merchants alike.

After all, he would be away from the city for the foreseeable future, thus, he had to make sure that all affairs were tended to impeccably in his absence.

Brigham arranged everything in order before leaving the building and walking through the bustling docks of the city.

The salty smell of the Galestine Ocean assaulted his nostrils, while the sound of seagulls above allowed him to relax his shoulders ever so slightly.

Glancing at all the dockworkers, the sailors, and the traders, the old patriarch was reminded of his young days when he had started his mercantile business in Ravenfell.

As he stood at one of the more secluded piers, gazing at the bustling docks with a light smile on his face, a familiar voice suddenly sounded from beside him.

"Reminiscing about the olden days, eh, Lord Flynn?"

Brigham was extremely alarmed! He didn't even notice the arrival of this person. And from the all so familiar voice, he knew exactly who it was.

He turned his head sideways and gazed at the raven-haired youth who had concealed his appearance with a hooded black cloak.

Brigham frowned. "What do you want?"

Adam deeply looked at the man and answered, "To prepare you for what's coming."
