God of Pets-Chapter 481: Wall of Sighs
Chen Guan took back the Frosty White Crow, originally thinking that having such a pet in the future would mean no longer needing to rely on the Sea Patrol Giant Turtle. He could slaughter the turtle and see if it could be Petified.
For now, he had to wait; the Sea Patrol Giant Turtle couldn’t be killed yet.
The members of the Flying Dragon Knight Order let out a long sigh of relief, knowing that Chen Guan still had to rely on them for now.
Continuing towards the Wall of Sighs, those members of the Knight Order who fled without orders were severely punished.
Not only did Chen Guan want to punish them, but even higher-ups like Gong Mingwang could not tolerate such behavior.
Acting without orders was no different from desertion, and only harsh punishment could maintain discipline.
Places like the Spirit Ruins Secret Realm could easily make one feel depressed, often seeing nothing for ten days to half a month, so encountering a Secret Spirit was something exciting.
No giant Secret Spirits were encountered on the way, but instead, a group of flying lions, around twenty to thirty in number, were dealt with by the Flying Dragon Knight Order. No pets were gained from them, but several Secret Skill Cores were obtained.
Chen Guan wasn’t interested in these matters. After nearly a month of traveling, they finally saw the so-called Wall of Sighs.
Clearly, there seemed to be nothing ahead, yet one couldn’t see clearly what was there, giving a very eerie feeling.
Chen Guan gathered Primordial Energy in his eyes, trying to see what was there, but it was the same; all he saw was chaos and emptiness.
"This is the Wall of Sighs," Gong Mingwang said as he came to Chen Guan’s side.
"Interesting," Chen Guan said, looking at the void.
"There’s something even more interesting," Gong Mingwang said, pulling out a bow and arrow, drawing the bow, and shooting an arrow at the Wall of Sighs.
The arrow collided with the void and stayed suspended in mid-air, unmoving.
The next second, the arrow suddenly ignited, almost immediately disintegrating in the flames.
This wasn’t a burn like wood or paper; it resembled the reaction of potassium burning on water.
"That arrow was made using the bones of a World-Defying Secret Spirit," Gong Mingwang said.
"Does everything that touches the Wall of Sighs react this way?" Chen Guan understood Gong Mingwang’s warning, advising him not to try bringing the Sea Patrol Giant Turtle near the Wall of Sighs.
"Yes, before anyone knew about the Wall of Sighs, those who accidentally touched it ended up like that arrow, with bodies that were nearly impossible to extinguish unless they were willing to sacrifice a limb," Gong Mingwang said.
"Interesting," Chen Guan ordered soldiers to summon flying pets to charge at the Wall of Sighs. The moment they touched the void, their bodies ignited fiercely.
The dazzling flames on them were indeed hard to extinguish, and they could only watch as their bodies burst and exploded like fireworks, decomposing in the fire.
"Retreat thirty miles; rest for now," Chen Guan commanded, ordering the giant turtle to retreat a distance to avoid accidentally colliding with the Wall of Sighs.
"Is there a need to stay here? This place is too dangerous," Gong Mingwang said.
"I have my own plans," Chen Guan instructed Gong Mingwang to follow his orders, then brought Chu Yutian over.
"Did you see the experiment just now?" Chen Guan said calmly.
"I saw it. Breaking the Wall of Sighs is not an easy task," Chu Yutian nodded.
"It’s not about being easy or not; it’s dangerous. It might cost me my life, and possibly destroy my Sword Spirit," Chen Guan said coldly.
"Whether to do it or not, you can decide for yourself. If it were up to me, I would take the risk because I have no choice. Without obtaining those Heavenly and Earthly Treasures, I have no way to continue my path of cultivation, so I must gamble," Chu Yutian said, pausing before continuing. "But you don’t have such needs. It’s understandable if you don’t want to take the risk; the decision is yours."
"How could I not have needs? I need more than you do, honestly," Chen Guan thought to himself, but instead asked aloud, "Can you see what’s behind the Wall of Sighs now?"
"I’ve already looked earlier. Behind the wall are countless Heavenly and Earthly Treasures, just like the last time I saw them, with endless ginseng, lingzhi, and vermilion fruits as numerous as wheat," Chu Yutian said.
"Are the positions and distributions the same as last time?" Chen Guan frowned.
Chu Yutian understood Chen Guan’s implication and shook his head, saying, "The distribution isn’t the same; I was just describing that there are many Heavenly and Earthly Treasures inside."
"You compared them to wheat fields—are they organized?" Chen Guan pondered and asked again.
"Indeed, they’re neat, in patches," Chu Yutian nodded after thinking.
"Is it possible that someone cultivated those Heavenly and Earthly Treasures?" Chen Guan asked Chu Yutian.
Chu Yutian was slightly taken aback: "I don’t think so; who has the capability to plant Heavenly and Earthly Treasures here? And no one has ever been able to break through the Wall of Sighs to get inside and plant things. Besides, I didn’t see any human figures behind the Wall of Sighs."
"Not humans, but Secret Spirits?" Chen Guan said indifferently.
"Do Secret Spirits plant things?" Chu Yutian had never seen it.
Chen Guan didn’t say anything more, realizing that Chu Yutian, with his ordinary background, had limited experiences.
The Spirit Devouring God was indeed a Secret Spirit capable of cultivating Heavenly and Earthly Treasures, and its farming prowess far surpassed that of humans.
Though Chen Guan had never seen the Spirit Devouring God farm, he was indeed a beneficiary of it.
"A giant Secret Spirit is approaching..." a messenger shouted from afar.
Chen Guan looked into the void and indeed saw a figure approaching, growing larger, seemingly no smaller than the Sea Patrol Giant Turtle. Moreover, there was more than one such figure; there were three in total.
All three were giant Secret Spirits, with the smallest being about the same size as the Sea Patrol Giant Turtle.
The largest one was nearly twice the size of the Sea Patrol Giant Turtle.
The three giant Secret Spirits were of different kinds, and on their backs were human figures.
Unlike the Flying Dragon Knight Order, each of the giant Secret Spirits only had one person, with a person commanding each giant Secret Spirit.
"That’s the Qin Family’s Giant Pet Corps... Why are they here..." Gong Mingwang recognized the origins of those on the giant pets’ backs, his expression changing slightly.
Chen Guan was also observing the people on the three giant pets, and he actually recognized one of them.
"Isn’t that Qin Qiu from the Qin Family? Why is he here?" Chen Guan found it somewhat surprising.
In such a vast Spirit Ruins Secret Realm, it was hard for Chen Guan to believe this was a mere coincidence.
However, if Qin Qiu was here for him, it didn’t quite make sense. He had disguised himself, and even if Qin Qiu saw him face-to-face, he might not recognize him, so why come specifically to confront him?
Moreover, there was no enmity between him and Qin Qiu, and Qin Qiu had no reason to come after him.
"Gong Mingwang, aren’t you coming out to welcome me? Is this how the Gong Family treats its guests?" Qin Qiu stood atop the largest black dragon Secret Spirit, looking at Gong Mingwang on the turtle’s back.
