God of Money: Reincarnated as the Weakest SSS Rank-Chapter 58: Strike first
Chapter 58: Strike first
"Food will be coming soon, and since it’s lonely, we could bet little things about the fights downstairs while we chat and have this meeting," he said.
To Louis, this didn’t seem bad. He could see the fights downstairs from here, so he didn’t even have to get up.
"Haha, that being the case, I guess I’ll be able to express my wish, since you know me so well." He spoke.
"Oh? Do you have a wish you want us to hear?"
"Yes."
"Then go ahead. We’re all ears."
"Haha, don’t take it so seriously. But recently I’ve been looking for things to buy, you see? And I’m interested in some factories in your custody, Mr. Danford."
Danford, the leader among the Ancient Moon people, was surprised. "Would you like to buy some factories for sale from me? I recently have three, which one do you fancy? We can discuss the price right now, and I will give you a discount."
"Gee, I’d appreciate that." Louis smiled and sat up straight. "It’s just, the ones I’m interested in don’t seem to be for sale. That’s why I wanted to talk it over."
Danford frowned, but nodded.
’Among the industries or factories that aren’t for sale, there are few that I could agree to sell. Which one is he talking about?’ He tried to think carefully about it, but in the end, he had to ask him directly.
"Which ones are you referring to?"
"I’m interested in that textile factory near Priestley Pharmacies within the Industrial Zone... Hm, also that heavy mineral processing one near the residential area. I can give the big figure of... 100 million for those two." Louis smiled broadly and even put a card on the table. "And right now I could give them to you."
Danford’s countenance visibly declined. Not only he, but the countenance of everyone present did.
"You..." One of them tried to say something, but Danford waved a hand at him to stop. freeweɓnøvel~com
Then he cleared his throat and spoke.
"Haha, I’m sure Mr. Carwine likes to joke. Those factories together are worth over a billion and form the central corner of our Ancient Moon. They are not for sale." Even though he acted kind and polite, Danford was angry.
Inside, he was fuming.
Because he was basically treating his house the same way he treated the House of Shadows.
Right now, among those aware of the forced transaction between Fraid and Carwine, everyone was making fun of the House of Shadows, which seemed to have lost an awful lot of status.
Because selling 25% for only 100 million was a tremendous humiliation.
And this guy wanted to do the same to them, with two of their most important companies?
Naturally, he was angry, but he could control himself properly.
But Louis still insisted.
"Still, say the curious mouths out there, the signatory at the head of those two companies is not you, Mr. Danford, but your brother." He spoke.
"Haha, my brother is a good economist, Mr. Carwine. He understands better than I do the importance of these companies to us. Sorry, those are out of stock." Danford was adamant.
Still, what Louis had said had already made all of them slightly defensive. Few knew that the signer was not Danford but his brother.
That’s why the temperature in the room seemed to drop. A strange aura seemed to hover between them.
Still, in the end, Louis smiled and retreated in his posture.
"Haha, I was just kidding, Mr. Danford." He spoke. "Your Ancient Moon is as strong as our Shadows, so I understand your courage."
"Haha, if it was a joke, it’s fine." Danford nodded.
The food arrived seconds later, and Danford soon introduced him to the leaders, though Louis already knew about them. Then they started chatting about random things and also about the next day.
They talked about many things, and everyone treated each other kindly after initial friction. They gave each other important information about some things and discussed how they would deal with the rest of the houses. Being the closest to each other, these two houses had a passive-aggressive relationship that allowed them to become allies occasionally, when the situation warranted it.
And this time it seemed to merit it, as they could not let the other houses take the lead.
But Louis didn’t talk to them too much. He just let them give as much information as they could, and he gave as little as he could.
Mainly because he didn’t have much of an idea about some topics.
And he was the first to leave, after two hours of the meeting.
"How about, can we kill him?" Danford asked.
One of the leaders smiled.
"Maybe. Are those guys already in town?"
"Yeah, they came in hiding."
"And is it true that there’s someone from up here?"
"It’s true. But I don’t know who it is."
"Hmm." Danford frowned. "It’s curious something."
"What is it, Leader?"
"Why do the Lockwards want such a young boy dead?"
His question silenced the room. Everyone wondered
Danford then asked another question. "Should we get into this? Only the House of Shadows is in on the problem. We belong to the Priestley side. I don’t think it’s a good idea."
"Should we watch from the side then? That would take away from our relevance." Said another.
"We can’t do what the Lockwards say blindly either." Danford sighed. "Besides, we already have information on the spies sent by the House of Shadows, don’t we?"
"Yes. Three men and one woman. We have the location of all of them."
"That’s enough, isn’t it?" Danford smiled. "Kill them all. That will disorient them for a moment. We’ll take advantage of the fact that the plan between them and us is to keep one winning horse each, and move.
Part of our biggest bets will move to our little Princess’ horse. Although it will give less profit, it will be better than losing everything. And we will still have another winning horse. So, it’s win-win."
"Hmm." The other leaders nodded. "That’s a good idea." Said one of them.
Then another added, "And if we don’t participate in killing that guy and leave it all to the Shadows, they’ll get in trouble if he turns out to be someone of high status."
"Yes." Danford nodded. "That’s why I was saying it. Let’s avoid trouble when we don’t know the status of someone desired by the Lockwards."
"Good idea, leader."
"Hahaha. Then just go and kill those spies. We’ll move tonight. By tomorrow before nightfall, we’ll strike the first blow on the Velharthe table and position ourselves first among the Underworld Houses of the Industrial District."
Although it didn’t seem like an outstanding move, if they could avoid losing billions and making their direct rivals lose billions while simultaneously gaining billions more, everything would work out for them, and, at least in the Industrial District, they would be first.
