Chapter 565: Chapter 562: Out of the Dragon’s Den, Into the Tiger’s Lair

After seeing the elder who remained silent after listening to his words, Wang Tianpei couldn’t help but start trembling.

He was afraid that the elder in front of him, who could make all of Qing Province tremble with a mere cough, would vent his anger on him.

Upon hearing Wang Tianpei’s account, the elder’s initially sharp spirit faded away, replaced by heavy breathing, like a lion on the verge of exploding with fury, ready to tear apart everything in front of it!

He was Wang Bin’s father—Wang Peng.

Just five minutes earlier, when Wang Peng heard about Wang Bin being beaten into the hospital, he was so angry that he smashed a cup. How dare someone in Qing Province lay hands on his son?!

Yet, after listening to Wang Tianpei’s words, he suddenly didn’t even have the strength to break things...

As the current Patriarch of the Wang Family, Wang Peng could be said to have conquered his competitors with his own charisma.

This was a person whom even his adversaries held in high esteem; traits like honesty, magnanimity, taking responsibility, and keeping promises were evident in him.

Until twenty-nine years ago, Wang Peng, who was past middle age, thought he wouldn’t have any more children in this life. But, unexpectedly, he had a son in his later years, fulfilling a long-held wish, and his excitement and joy were palpable.

For a while, he donated to hope primary schools, built bridges and roads in the countryside of Qing Province, doing all sorts of good deeds, winning unanimous praise from the people of Qing Province!

The Wang Family thus took another step forward, gaining the power to compete with those hundred-year-old aristocratic families.

While receiving blessings from friends all over the world, some rumors began to spread, like Wang Bin being an adopted orphan or the child of his wife and a servant, circulating the streets and alleys of Qing Province.

But Wang Peng himself disregarded these rumors, believing that this son had brought him good fortune, and the advancement of the Wang Family was the best proof!

Being Wang Peng’s only son, Wang Bin was naturally pampered and indulged from an early age, and as he grew older, he increasingly confirmed the rumors because he was nothing like Wang Peng.

From completely opposite personalities to differences in appearance, they were entirely two different people.

People say like father, like son; since having Wang Bin, a good-for-nothing son, Wang Peng, the "tiger father," had let him do whatever he wished, refusing even to scold him despite the chaos he caused, always cleaning up after him.

Even a major incident that shocked Qing Province a few years ago was smoothed over by him using his old friendships and large sums of money. Afterward, he merely grounded Wang Bin for a while without a word of admonition.

It was only at this moment that Wang Peng realized, nearly all his past friends had been asked for favors, those who owed him were now owed by him instead.

And all of this was for his precious son!

Wang Peng sighed and emerged from his thoughts, seeing Wang Tianpei in front of him, nearly wetting his pants from fear, he calmly said, "Escort him out."

"Yes!"

A middle-aged man dressed as a butler in a blue long robe entered from outside the door, pushing a profusely thankful Wang Tianpei in a wheelchair out.

"This is far enough!" Wang Tianpei, pushed down the steps by the butler, wiped the sweat from his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank you, Mr. Wang!"

The butler did not let go of the wheelchair handle, smiling brightly, he said, "No need to be so polite, Tianpei. You’ve played a significant role in bringing the young master to where he is today!"

A chill went through Wang Tianpei’s heart, finding the butler’s once warm smile now increasingly dangerous. Despite no change in expression, he felt a coldness that chilled him to the bone!

The butler, in reality, greatly disdained Wang Bin’s behavior, always believing it was Wang Bin who ruined Wang Peng, and those around Wang Bin couldn’t escape the blame.

But he couldn’t tell Wang Peng these thoughts because he was fully aware, even if his words were the truth, if they concerned Wang Bin, in Wang Peng’s ears, they would sound like nonsense.

Moreover, since Wang Peng treated his family’s butler like a brother, the butler was naturally deeply grateful. Now, upon learning that Wang Peng might never see a grandchild in his lifetime, he truly felt a shared sense of understanding.

Unable to punish Wang Bin, the butler naturally transferred his fury onto Wang Tianpei. Though he wore a beaming smile, the raging fire of anger within him was enough to turn the man in the wheelchair to ashes!

Hearing the butler’s seemingly commendatory yet derogatory remark, Wang Tianpei didn’t know how to respond, only able to awkwardly smile without saying a word.

"You young people!" The butler suppressed his anger, sighing, "Let me accompany you to the door!"

Upon hearing the butler seemingly unwilling to pursue further, Wang Tianpei immediately breathed a sigh of relief, but couldn’t help but curse his cowardice internally. He’s just a butler, isn’t he?

Just a servant, why should I fear him?

Thinking of this, Wang Tianpei became complacent and calm as the butler pushed him slowly to the estate’s exit.

The Wang Family manor was located at the top of a winding road, with a notable slope right outside. After the butler stopped, Wang Tianpei hurriedly locked the wheelchair’s brake, afraid of carelessly sliding down the slope.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Wang, otherwise I’d really have a hard time," Wang Tianpei said politely, "Please stay here!"

Not far away, upon seeing Wang Tianpei exit the manor, the driver fetched a wide iron plate from the car trunk, placing it at the car door entrance for easy wheelchair access.

Upon seeing the driver approach, Wang Tianpei was about to bid another goodbye, but saw the butler looking off into the distant blood-red sunset, remarking, "What a beautiful sunset!"

Startled by the butler’s sudden comment, Wang Tianpei, realizing he somehow survived, agreed, "Yes, only from the mountaintop can you see such a sunset!"

"Do you think it can be seen from below?" the butler asked leisurely.

Startled, Wang Tianpei subconsciously replied, "That, I don’t know!"

Just as the driver was less than five meters away from Wang Tianpei, the butler suddenly cried out, "Oh dear, Tianpei, how can you be so careless? Quickly brake!"

"What, what carelessness?"

While Wang Tianpei was puzzled, he suddenly felt the wheelchair beneath him speedily race down the slope with terrifying speed.

As the scenery swiftly blurred past on both sides, Wang Tianpei, in utter horror, suddenly realized something.

Just as the butler had cried out, the wheelchair had already begun its slow descent, but his attention was entirely on the butler, missing the best moment to react.
