Chapter 1181: Chapter 1260: No Matter How Good Others Are, None Compare to Those Beside You

Fang Yi took advantage of the rainy night to leave. In fact, it wasn’t just the person at the roadside barbecue stall who knew about it; there were others in the shadows who knew, too. They were all there to surveil.

When they saw Fang Yi carrying a bundle, holding an umbrella, and then getting into a taxi, one by one they reported the news back.

This included the Song family, the Lin family, the Bai family, and also the Kong family. Besides them, there was also the up-and-coming Emperor Alliance.

Eventually, someone followed.

Fang Yi sat in the back seat of the taxi, turned his head slightly, and saw that there were vehicles trailing them, realizing he was being followed.

Fang Yi knew their intentions; they all wanted to know where he was going.

With Hua Huiyue and Jin Yuzhi around, they dared not act recklessly against him. Since Fang Yi was out alone, the intimidation from Hua Huiyue and Jin Yuzhi meant they wouldn’t dare to do anything to him for a while.

Fang Yi sighed, fished out his wallet from his pocket, and took out one thousand yuan, leaning forward with a smile: "Driver, stop up ahead for a moment and let me take the wheel, how about it?"

The driver said: "How can that do, if you can’t drive, then I..."

Fang Yi stuffed the thousand yuan into the driver’s pocket.

"Don’t worry, if there’s an accident, I’d be in trouble too. I’m being followed, so I’m looking to shake them off. Can you give me a chance?" Fang Yi said with a smile.

The driver took a glance at Fang Yi through the rearview mirror. His beard was rather thick, and there was a smile on his face. He didn’t seem to be joking, and with that wad of cash stuffed into his pocket, the driver hesitated for a moment but made a decision.

After passing an intersection, the driver pulled over the car.

The rain was still pouring down like beans, and Fang Yi had the driver move to the passenger seat, then climbed into the driver’s seat, sat properly, and buckled the seatbelt.

Fang Yi pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and handed it to the driver with a smile: "Care for one?"

The driver accepted it, didn’t smoke, but only lit up after seeing Fang Yi light one for himself.

Fang Yi didn’t rush to drive. He saw a photo on the dashboard — a family of three, the driver, his wife, and a very well-behaved and cute little girl.

"Congratulations, driver, on having such a pretty and lovely daughter." Fang Yi said with a smile.

The driver scratched the back of his head a little embarrassed, sighing: "Yeah, having such a pretty and lovely daughter is truly a blessing from my past lives. Young man, you don’t seem that young, you probably have kids too, right?"

Fang Yi: "Me? Just a single guy for now, not looking to start a family yet."

The driver sighed again and said: "That’s not good, better to settle down early, like me. When I was young, running around only thinking about making money, but it’s hard to earn much, and I ended up neglecting my family and parents. Looking back now, I do regret it... After thinking so much, I’ve realized one thing: nothing is better than having your loved ones around."

Fang Yi laughed: "Driver, you seem to know quite a bit, I’ve learned something."

The driver waved it off, saying: "I didn’t read much, just some personal reflections, don’t mind me."

Fang Yi: "Alright, driver, put your seatbelt on."

Driver: "No worries, I’ve driven more cars than you’ve ridden in, go ahead!"
