Chapter 917: For the Curtain Call, The End of the World as we Know It (8).

The world below boiled over with furious chaos and death.

However, the skies were abnormally quiet and peaceful.

Floating over the clashing armies of crimson and black, Aurora has a serene expression on her face.

A true Lady in Red.

She had ditched the loose robe that hung around her shoulders for something more comfortable to be worn into battle.

In her right hand, balancing on her shoulder, was an enormous halberd, a weapon that looked rather discrepant when compared to her buxom features and ravishing elegance.

Floating in the air opposite her, was the Leader of the Devils within the confines of the former City of Zoan, Abaloth.

Staring at the Devil for a moment, Aurora suddenly chuckled.

Waiting on silence for the laughing fit to come to an end, Abaloth calmly asked,

"Why do you laugh, human?"

Wiping a tear from her eye, Aurora shook her head,

"No, it’s nothing. I’ve just never seen a Devil look so... old before."

Indeed, the Devil before her looked rather humanoid. And old.

Could it be the higher they ascended, the more human-like they appeared? She thought to herself.

Abaloth nodded,

"Indeed, I guess it is rather strange. However, if it would soothe your mind, I have not been on this world for long. Rather, my physical form reflects how old my mind is."

Aurora raised a brow,

"Is that so?"

Abaloth nodded,

"Some Devils, such as myself, are cursed with the gift of remembrance. We are unable to forget. A few morsels here and there, from the eternity we have lived. It is rather inconvenient."

"Hm... That truly sounds like a tragedy to live in."

This time, it was Abaloth’s turn to chuckled,

"It is not so bad."

The wind fluttered, carrying the worn robe the old Devil wore off.

"For thousands upon thousands of millennia— For eons, the Devils and the Celestials have battled. Divine ichor has been spilled amongst the stars and across the many worlds within the dominion of the creator who exists above all."

The Devil’s eyes were fixed right on her,

"Today, another mortal, blessed by the putrid blood of a Celestial stands before me. I ask of your name, accursed one."

"You can call me Aurora or horrid wench. Anyone works. But it won’t matter much when this thing is buried deep into your skull." The Blood Matriarch said with a savage grin stretching out on her face.

"Ah. The face of a wild beast," Abaloth muttered to himself.

"Just because you have a bit of artificial power. Come. Let me show you the zenith you long to attain."

Having been bound to a Celestial for a long time now, Aurora was well aware of the nature of the Devils.

As well as their Divine counterparts; the Celestials.

As the Matriarch of the BLood Moon Sect and the future ruler of this world, she had done her homework on these important subjects and had come to her own educated conclusion.

Both were arrogant, self-absorbed, tyrannical monsters who treated the lower beings, or more accurately, the ’Mortals’ like disposable pawns to use and abuse whenever.

To be used and then thrown away like she was nothing was something she was not willing to let happen. Which was why she would acquire power on her own and destroy the order of the universe.

Her eyes gleamed with pride and conviction.

So what if they were gods? That didn’t matter much.

Most of them were dead anyway.

If they had been killed in the past, they could be killed in the future too.

That was her ultimate goal.

But, everything came in waves and seasons.

Before she could embark on her journey to slay gods and vanquish Devils, she had to do one simple thing.

And that was to expel the Devils from this world and claim rulership over it in the Blood Moon Goddess’s name

And before even that, she would have to bring this ruined city to heel.

It had been a bit difficult, gathering the materials needed to craft this spell.

However, it was very much worth it.

Normally, she would be unable to match up with a Tier 3 creature.

However, it was not impossible to bridge the Divine between realms.

Only Incredibly difficult.

The blood moon hung behind her, accentuating her glory and majesty. Just as she was. A glorious queen here to save this damned world from its darkness and misery.

Her eyes turned blood red and two stream of blood trickled down from them.

"Bleed for me." Her lips uttered.

Down below, almost every warrior of the Blood Moon Sect began to bleed from their orifices and cuts.

However, they didn’t seem bothered by this at all.

If anything, the bleeding seems to send them into a frenzy, their attacks becoming more powerful and erratic as they cut down Devil after Devil, not even worried about putting their lives on the line.

The runic tattoos all over her fair skin lit up, elevating the sinister beauty even more.

She licked her lips,

"Now I’m ready. You can come at me with all the force in your wrinkly bones, old Devil."

"How arrogant. In that case, excuse my rudeness." Abaloth said.

The Devil’s tretvhed his arm forward.

The sky rumbled and churned violently as hundreds — no, thousands of magic circles began to blotch it out.

The clouds of Devil Essence writhed and whirled around dripping into the nexuses of these magic circles.

It was as though the world flipped in on itself.

A battle between creatures that had truly ascended from the realm of mere mortals had begun.

In reality, the war was never about those down below.

It never was. Instead, it would be decided by this crucial battle. A clash between the pinnacle of man and Devil.

Of red and black.

The condensing Devil Essence coalesced in the nexuses of the respective magic circles, forming large dark ’bubbles’.

With a single glance, Aurora could already tell.

’Dangerous.’

She exhaled deeply. The halberd in her hand lit up with a dazzling azure glow.

White radiance flashed all over her body as a special light armor made of enchanted magic metals donned on her.

The air around her body crackled and sizzles as she got into a crouch.

Silence.

Stillness.

And then, it exploded in a crackled of lightning and roaring thunder, the air compressing into rings as she shot into the skies to meet her foe.
