Chapter 1106: Peace Talks (1).

The wind blew rapidly, wearing at the stones and turning them to dust and grit.

Staring at the large arch of red that covered the distant horizon, Cain had a faint thought in his mind.

"Now that we are here, all we can do is wait. I believe we should be receiving envoys soon." Steve walked up to him and turned his gaze towards the distance as well.

Cain glanced at him then sighed,

"Or we will be greeted by a rain of bullets and arrows."

"Don’t jinx us, damn it!" Steve said then chuckled,

"If it comes down to that, we’ll just have to fight."

Cain pursed his lips,

"Sure..." He trailed off.

Steve raised a brow and turned to stare at him,

"What’s on your mind?"

Cain hesitated for a moment then shook his head,

"No, it’s nothing. Let’s make camp while we wait."

He turned around and walked away, leaving Steve behind.

Left to appreciate the dreary sky alone, Steve let out a melancholic sigh then plopped down to the ground. Crossing his legs, he rested his chin on his hand as he waited in silence.

All around, Cain could see the combatants were busy gearing up. The best possible scenario would be to avoid a fight, but if that didn’t happen, then they would have to be ready for the worst.

The reason avoiding a battle was nigh impossible, was simply due to clashing interest and location.

The existence of the Blood Moon Sect within City Z, meant that they were, for lack of better words, an obstruction to whatever plans he had, especially since it seemed like they had no intentions of joining the bandwagon.

Despite that, he would have been willing to come to a compromise if they had decided to take a backseat and watch him rebuild the world.

But he definitely wasn’t the only wone with such ambitions. And considering how powerful they were, he didn’t doubt in the slightest, that they would also see him as a threat.

Suddenly, his head snapped towards the distant Dome of Blood.

Despite being so far away, he could easily make out something flying out towards them.

His eyes narrowed, ’Finally...’

A few minutes later, he, Lukas, Beorstone, Gilead, and Alvi were gathered right in front of their camp.

The dust on the ground was kicked up ferociously as the creature that had flown all the way from the Dorm of Blood sought to land right in front of them.

It was an enormous {Red Blood Dragon}.

It hissed out steam through its nose and raised its maw to the sky, letting out a loud screech the moment it landed.

Cain could make out a few individuals on its back— a short, old man with greying hair and a foul expression on his face, a buff , much taller older man with greying hair and a rather jovial smile on his face. A buff, daek-skinned young woman with a haughty look on her face, and a figure dressed in dark guards that seemed to blend into the surrounding shadows.

They all jumped down the back of the Aether Beast and began walking towards them.

The short old man wa the first to speak. Cain could immediately tell he was very well learned.

"My name is Nockt. I would like an audience with the leader of the Golden Asura."

Cain took a step forward, "That would be me. My name is Cain."

Nockt stopped just a few steps in front on his and gave a short bow. Seeing the respect shown by the older man Cain felt it only appropriate to return the gesture.

"We haven’t met, but I have heard a lot about you." The old man said in a low voice.

Cain smiled, "Is my popularity that high?"

"In any case," Nockt said with narrowing eyes, "I won’t beat around the bush. I have come to urge you to hand over our Matriach and turn around peacefully."

Cain’s smile remained. However, his eyes were rather dark,

"Now your demands don’t seem rather fair, do they? Your Matriach is a prisoner of war. If you want her back, there are a few things you’d have to do to convince me."

Nockt grimaced,

"I’m saying this for your own good. You might be powerful, but don’t forget who’s turf you are on."

Cain’s smile vanished,

"Oh, I’m well aware of that. But that is about to change very soon. Besides, you lit already planned to attack us first, no?"

The figure, who Cain had not identified as female walked up until she was right in front of him. Her voice was incredibly cold and sharp, like a dagger in the night,

"If you leave now, I can convince them not to attack and call for a ceasefire. I believe an unnecessary conflict would be detrimental to everyone here. Our only request, is that you release the Matriach."

Cain stared at the eyes glaring up at him.

"Unfortunately, drawing back is not something we can do at the moment. And if there will be a ceasefire, it will be on our terms."

The daek-skinned lady stomped up to them,

"Eh?! What’s this I’m hearing?! Why do you think you scrawny little bastards get a day here?!

She turned to the woman dressed in the black garbs,

"Night, I’m going along with this only because of you. But I find it hard to believe these idiots are worth the trouble."

Lukas clicked his tongue, "How great. Another muscle brained idiot."

The atmosphere suddenly became tense as Veyra glared at him menacingly,

"I dare you to repeat those words."

Sensing the abnormal feeling of danger, Lukas’ eyes narrowed as he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Lukas, stop it." Cain turned around and said.

Sensing the seriousness in Cain’s tone, Luaks paused for a moment then snorted and relaxed.

Cain turned his gaze back to address those in front of him,

"I believe we got off on the wrong foot. Let’s start this again, shall we?"

He cleared his throat and made sure to enunciate every word properly,

"We are ready to negotiate. But they will be on our terms and our terms alone."

That, was the one thing he would not be backing down from.
