Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons-Chapter 189: Demon! Get away from Me.
"Ahhhhh!"
Terrified screams erupted from the prisoners as they watched the guards’ heads fly into the air.
For a brief moment, time seemed to freeze.
The mine boss stood rooted to the spot, his entire body stiffening as his heart pounded violently against his chest. His pupils shrank, his mind unable to process the gruesome scene unfolding before him.
The two undead servants moved like harbingers of death.
One of them appeared in front of a fleeing guard in a blur of motion and swung its axe without hesitation.
"Noooo!" the guard screamed, fear etched deeply across his face as he staggered backward.
Too slow.
Bang!
The axe struck with brutal force, cleaving his body cleanly into two halves. Blood, organs, and shattered bone splattered across the ground in a grotesque display.
The metallic scent of blood instantly filled the air.
For a heartbeat, the prisoners stood frozen, their minds blank.
Then—
Chaos erupted.
"Aaaahhh!"
"They’re killing everyone!"
"Run!"
The stunned crowd snapped out of their daze and began to scatter in all directions, trampling over one another in their desperate attempt to escape.
"Stop them!" the fat mine boss shrieked, his voice cracking with fear as he turned and fled.
At this moment, he no longer cared about authority, status, or control.
Survival was the only thing that mattered.
The guards hesitated, their faces pale.
How were they supposed to stop such monsters?
Even so, unwilling to disobey their boss, a few gritted their teeth and charged forward, weapons raised despite the terror gripping their hearts.
"Die!" a tall, burly guard roared as he swung his sword toward one of the undead servants.
The undead did not dodge.
It did not retreat.
Instead, it thrust its spear forward at a terrifying speed.
Gah!
The guard’s roar was cut short as the spear pierced straight through his neck. A choking, guttural sound escaped his throat as his body went limp and collapsed to the ground.
Nearby, the second undead servant brought its axe down onto another guard.
Crack!
The impact shattered the man’s skull instantly.
Fragments of bone and brain matter scattered across the dirt.
The scene was nothing short of a massacre.
Ardyn and Serene stood frozen, staring at the carnage unfolding around them.
Their jaws slowly dropped, their eyes filled with disbelief and horror.
This...
This was beyond anything they could comprehend.
"Let’s go," Thoren said calmly, grabbing his still-stunned parents and pulling them forward.
They exchanged uneasy glances but did not question him.
Right now, they could only follow.
As they moved, their eyes caught glimpses of the aftermath.
Blood trails stretched across the ground.
Severed arms and legs lay scattered like discarded debris.
Crushed skulls oozed with brain matter.
The stench of death was overwhelming.
Fear gripped their hearts like a vice.
They knew, deep down, that all of this was their son’s doing.
But what they could not understand.
How had he become capable of commanding such terrifying beings?
How had everything changed so drastically?
Around them, prisoners fled in panic.
Those quick enough seized the opportunity to escape this hellish place, sprinting toward the open wilderness without looking back.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunshots rang out in the distance.
Ahhh! Ahhhh!
"Noooo!"
"DEMON! GET AWAY FROM ME!"
The sporadic gunfire echoed through the air, each shot more frantic than the last.
Meanwhile, the fat mine boss sprinted toward the village entrance, drenched in sweat. His breathing was ragged, uneven, but he forced his legs to keep moving.
He couldn’t erase what he had just seen.
"D-Demons..." he muttered, his voice trembling.
Some of his men had fired their guns at the hooded figures.
But the bullets had done nothing.
Nothing.
The creatures had continued moving as if unaffected.
Worse, he had glimpsed beneath their hoods.
Empty eye sockets.
Burning with a sickly yellow flame.
That single glance had sent a chill down his spine so deep it felt as though his soul had been frozen.
He had never experienced such terror in his entire life.
Not even the wild beasts that roamed the wilderness compared.
Those creatures, they were nightmares given form.
Seeing the wide-open village gate ahead, relief surged through him.
I can escape...
I just need to get out...
As long as he left this place, he could hide.
Regroup.
Call for help.
Bursting out of the village, he suddenly froze.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
A group of heavily armed soldiers stood before him.
"W-What?" he stammered.
Why are they here?
But he didn’t hesitate.
Compared to those monsters, the soldiers were salvation.
"Help!" he screamed, running toward them as if his life depended on it, because it did.
Elara and the soldiers stared at the approaching man in confusion.
The sergeant stepped forward, frowning.
"Sir, what is going on?" he asked firmly.
The mine boss bent over, panting heavily.
"D-Demons..." he gasped.
"T-There are demons attacking the village!" he shouted, pointing frantically behind him.
The soldiers exchanged puzzled looks.
Demons?
"What do you mean?" one of them muttered.
"W-What are you doing?!" the mine boss snapped, panic overtaking him. "Aren’t you going to kill them?!"
The sergeant straightened.
"If what you’re saying is true," he replied, "we will handle it."
The mine boss was about to argue further when he heard it.
Thud... Thud...
Heavy footsteps.
Slow.
Steady.
His entire body stiffened.
Turning around, he saw Thoren walking out of the village.
Behind him—
Death.
"Y-You..." the mine boss stuttered, stumbling backward.
"Soldiers! That’s him! He brought the demons!"
Before anyone could react.
"...Father! Mother!"
Elara’s voice rang out, filled with shock and joy.
She rushed forward, tears already welling up in her eyes.
"My daughter!" Serene cried, embracing her tightly.
All the fear, all the worry she had carried melted away in that moment.
Her child was safe.
Ardyn stood beside them, stunned, still struggling to process everything happening so quickly.
Thoren paused for a moment, watching the reunion.
A faint smile touched his lips.
But only for a second.
Then, it vanished.
His gaze shifted.
Cold.
Unforgiving.
He began walking toward the mine boss.
Each step felt like a death sentence.
"No... no... don’t come closer!" the mine boss screamed, his voice breaking.
"Arrest him! He’s a demon!"
The soldiers hesitated, exchanging confused glances. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Arrest who?
Before they could process what happening, Thoren was already standing in front of the trembling man.
He leaned in slightly.
His voice was low.
Calm.
Terrifying.
"Now," he whispered, "you’re going to take me to your boss."
