Chapter 249: Chapter 223: Disappointment and Revenge

Very soon, the woman who called herself Diana led him into that office. It was an extraordinarily spacious and brightly lit room, but it seemingly lacked any windows, only a few decorative fake windows set into the walls.

Wang Zhifan took note of these anomalies, but he offered no opinions or observations, continuing to walk with the woman to the inside, approaching a desk in the room.

"Mr. Wang, please have a seat."

The blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman then walked to the boss chair behind the desk, raising her hand to invite Wang Zhifan to sit on a sofa chair in front of the desk.

"Where is Mr. Qian?"

Wang Zhifan glanced at the seemingly unremarkable sofa chair but chose not to sit down immediately, instead asking about the whereabouts of the other person who should be present.

"Sorry, let me urge him a bit."

Upon hearing this, the woman immediately bent over and tapped on the keyboard atop the desk in front of her, seemingly sending a message to someone via the computer.

A few seconds later, she crouched again, retrieved three disposable cups from a drawer beneath the desk, stood up again, and said to Wang Zhifan:

"Would you like something to drink? Coffee? Or perhaps some tea?"

"No thank you, I’m not thirsty."

Wang Zhifan immediately declined her offer, his gaze skimming over her seemingly relaxed expression, while unknown thoughts flashed through his mind.

"That’s quite unfortunate... Our company, both our coffee beans and our tea leaves are meticulously cultivated by our research center, the taste is quite different from outside."

As the woman spoke, she bent down to rummage through the drawer, but after a few seconds, she let out a slightly frustrated sound:

"Ah... it seems that the coffee beans here have been used up? My apologies, Mr. Wang, let me go next door to borrow some, please wait here for just half a minute."

She mumbled something, then, holding the disposable cups in hand, she swiftly walked to the office door, passing by Wang Zhifan with a slightly apologetic smile.

"Heh."

Wang Zhifan let out a light chuckle internally for the seemingly flawless act of this woman but remained standing in place, staying in this oddly configured office, watching her leave.

Soon after, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman briskly exited the room, carefully closing the door on her way out, appearing as if she truly went to borrow some coffee beans.

Meanwhile, Wang Zhifan directly moved to the chair behind the desk he was facing, seating himself in the boss chair, observing the computer screen on the desk in front of him which remained locked awaiting password input.

He casually sat in the owner’s seat, calmly waiting, as if he were the boss there.

Several minutes later, the woman who claimed to have gone to borrow coffee beans hadn’t returned, yet Wang Zhifan displayed no signs of impatience; he continued sitting in the boss chair, crossing his legs and closing his eyes to rest.

A few more minutes passed, he remained silent, but suddenly, the voice of the earlier woman emanated from a hidden speaker location above the ceiling:

"Mr. Wang, I’m terribly sorry for choosing this method of communication with you, but you seem extremely dangerous to me, and for personal safety, I had no choice but to do so. I sincerely hope we can engage in honest and credible dialogue now."

"Heh... Communication? You lock me up here like a criminal, and this is Penglai’s way of treating guests? Or is this how Penglai Pharmaceutical conducts negotiations?"

Wang Zhifan didn’t appear surprised by the sudden voice; after listening, he immediately responded in an icy tone.

"No, Mr. Wang, you are not being imprisoned, and you seem quite content here. We are merely conducting talks in a secure manner. I hope you understand."

The woman’s voice promptly responded to Wang Zhifan’s words.

"Come on, with things as they are, just tell me what you really want?"

Wang Zhifan, tired of exchanging pleasantries with the woman, sought a clear answer.

"We want to cooperate with you... to jointly research the peculiar powers you possess."

Feeling that it was time for full disclosure, the woman quickly revealed her intentions after some thought.

"Alright, I agree."

Wang Zhifan’s face showed no surprise or offense upon hearing this; instead, he smiled slightly and continued:

"Come see me now; we can discuss the cooperation agreement."

He seemed quite ready to agree to her proposal.

However, his nonchalant attitude didn’t change his current predicament. After a two-second silence, the woman’s voice continued from above:

"I’m sorry, Mr. Wang, I can’t accept your suggestion. As I mentioned earlier, due to how dangerous you are, the cooperation must proceed in this more secure manner. I hope you can understand, but I can assure you that our company will utilize all research findings for the advancement of science and technology for the benefit of humanity. All your contributions and sacrifices are valuable and beneficial..."

As the woman began to speak a long string of grandiose yet hollow words, Wang Zhifan noticed that the room he was in had undergone a subtle change. Some sort of colorless, odorless special gas was quietly released into the fully enclosed space through tiny pipes. Something that almost anyone else would find undetectable, but with his Spirit attribute reaching a perception often deemed abnormal at 111 points, he detected it immediately.

"This is all? In the end, this is the extent of your plans? Truly disappointing..."

Enclosed in a fully formed cage and being drugged, Wang Zhifan found the situation mildly absurd.

He had considered that Penglai Company invited him over intending to study his unique abilities, but he didn’t expect their approach to be so direct and brutish, not even negotiating the possibility of a peaceful collaboration, outright treating him like a test subject. This made him realize that the company wasn’t as wise and powerful as rumors suggested, but rather, exuded a foolish arrogance.

"Thinking to use me, not treating me as human, I won’t let you off easily..."

After disappointment came the rise of anger; as someone who held grudges and preferred swift revenge, Wang Zhifan knew he had little time left to act. Any further delay, and he would be forcibly ejected from this copy world.

In that sealed room, the next second, Wang Zhifan, who had been sitting leisurely in the boss chair, vanished entirely. Almost simultaneously, his figure appeared outside the building connected to the room, in a deserted corner of the street that the building belonged to.

He used the abilities of entering and breaking dreams gained from cultivating the Great Dream Saber Scripture, nearly instantaneously transferring himself to a pre-arranged spot near his Dream Me Avatar, which was currently concealed beneath the ground here.

From this scene alone, one can see how powerful the two abilities from the Great Dream Saber Scripture are. Physical barriers have no effect on them; only special powers that can track and disrupt dreams could potentially pose a challenge, but such mystical capabilities clearly do not exist within Penglai Company.

"First, find that Mr. Qian and Diana. Make them realize the consequences of provoking me, then follow the clues back to whoever was the first to target me, and finally dismantle this ridiculous company."

In a fleeting moment, Wang Zhifan laid out his plans for revenge in his mind. He wouldn’t rely on his advantage in strength to go on a killing spree. He believed in settling scores fairly, neither sparing an enemy nor wrongly accusing the innocent.

And so, on this deserted street corner, Wang Zhifan swiftly released two other Dream Me Avatars, having them, along with the one hidden underground, ignoring physical barriers, rapidly head towards the distant Penglai Branch Building.
