Chapter 139: Chapter 132: An Oracle’s Summons, the Bishops’ Shock

In less than three hours, they had traveled from the Swamp Territory, through the Underground Space, and now to the plaza outside the Divine Hall in Dawn City.

Now, the six Bishops of Truth stared at the massive Divine Hall before them.

The sight of the soldiers and even Demon Beasts standing guard around the Teleportation Gate had left them in a state of shock for the entire journey.

"This? Where is...?"

Oleg stared at the vast, flat, and unbelievably massive plaza before them.

He then looked at the colossal Rock Steel pillars surrounding the plaza, each one no shorter than a hundred meters.

At the far end of the plaza, near the cliff face, stood eight even larger pillars that exceeded three hundred meters in height.

Between these pillars, a hollowed-out gate led into the belly of the mountain.

With just a single glance into the hollow gate, they could all feel terrifying fluctuations of Magic Power.

"Space and exploration..."

"So, this is His Majesty’s original world? Or is it just one of the ones he has explored?"

None of them were fools. After arriving, Bishop Aemon’s expression turned thoughtful amidst his shock.

"No wonder the Lord and his wife were so cautious. This is truly enormous!"

"If the various races of the continent found out about this, it would be disastrous!"

"By the Truth, His Majesty has truly given us a huge surprise!"

"A surprise? I’d say it’s more of a shock!"

The bishops’ hearts surged with turbulent emotions, but the strongest feeling was one of reverence.

This was an Otherworld! A real Otherworld!

The men followed the Forest Wolf out of the Teleportation Array, where two Knight’s Squires immediately came forward to receive them.

"My Lord Bishops, it’s been a long journey. This way, please."

Squire Paul was the first to step forward. Behind him stood a dozen or so soldiers and a group of various small Demon Beasts.

"When did contracting Demon Beasts become so easy? Almost every person has one?"

"Even for Tierless Demon Beasts, shouldn’t they fiercely resist being contracted by humans?"

One of the bishops looked at Paul, his expression puzzled.

After all, Demon Beasts weren’t creatures you could contract just because you wanted to.

Entry Tier Demon Beasts were one thing; their intelligence was much higher, and they would often compromise and accept a master when their lives were threatened.

But Tierless Demon Beasts were mostly just ferocious, not rational—at least, that was the Human Race’s understanding.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t be called Demon Beasts. Moreover, Demon Beasts were the children of the Demon Gods, and under some kind of influence from the Demon Gods, their innate spiritual nature would resist contracts with any Alien Race.

Even if an Entry Tier Demon Beast appeared to compromise and accept a master, incidents of spiritual backlash during the contracting process were not uncommon.

And since the spirit is connected to the soul, suffering a spiritual backlash during a contract was no laughing matter. It could be life-threatening at any moment.

That was why on the Oakland Continent, many humans didn’t dare to casually contract a Demon Beast, even if there was a one or two Tier difference between them.

Of course, the bishops knew that Lince, as the Deities’ proxy, was aligned with the Demon Beasts, had many Demon Beast subordinates, and could even suppress entire packs of them.

But surely this benevolent Majesty wasn’t constantly having his proxy bestow the gift of contracting Demon Beasts upon every single ordinary human soldier, was he?

Besides, the cost-to-benefit ratio of contracting a Tierless Demon Beast was simply too low. It wasn’t worth the effort.

That was why the uninformed bishop had voiced his question.

"If I recall correctly, you are Squire Paul, yes? What exactly is the situation here? And where is the Lord?"

Paul could see the confusion and bewilderment in the bishops’ eyes.

He smiled and said,

"My Lord Bishop, it’s a long story, and I’m not sure how I would even begin to explain it."

"As for the Lord, he is currently occupied with military affairs and cannot get away. Besides, the one who summoned you all this time was His great Majesty."

"Therefore, the Lord felt it best for you to have an audience with His Majesty first before discussing anything else."

At this, Squire Paul gestured for the bishops to proceed toward the Divine Hall.

"My Lord Bishops, please."

Oleg, Aemon, and the other four bishops exchanged glances.

Their hearts were filled with doubt and even unease.

But in the end, they said nothing more and began to follow Squire Paul forward.

However, it was Bishop Oleg, who had the longest-standing relationship with the Swamp Territory, who spoke up again after glancing around, his tone casual as if making small talk.

"Before our audience with His Majesty, Sir Paul, could you perhaps tell us where exactly this place is?"

"Of course, if it’s difficult for you to say, then never mind."

Hearing this, Paul’s expression became thoughtful.

He looked at Oleg and the other bishops, then finally nodded.

"To be honest with you, my lords, I don’t understand the deeper matters myself."

"However, I’m sure you’ve realized that we are no longer on the Oklar Continent."

"This world is called the Carter Continent. The situation is rather complex, and since time is short, we won’t go into it for now."

"However, this area where you now stand is actually a new territory and city that the Lord has developed under the guidance and Divine Favor of His great Majesty."

With that, Paul briefly explained the general situation in Dawn City.

"A population of over four hundred thousand? And almost all of them are citizens of the Western Realm saved by His Majesty from the Beast Tide?"

The bishops weren’t too concerned about the size of Dawn City.

After all, with Divine Favor, building a city was a simple matter.

What concerned them most was the composition of Dawn City’s population that Paul described.

"This... His Majesty is truly more unexpected than we imagined."

"He can even get some of the Overlords within the Demon Beast Mountain Range to cooperate?"

"Even if His Majesty could control a few Overlord Demon Beasts and have them secretly cooperate to save the people of the Western Realm, the difficulty involved must have been immense."

"After all, His Majesty’s proxy’s Power isn’t..."

Just as one of the bishops was speaking in surprise, Oleg suddenly cut him off.

"Watch your words! We have arrived before His Majesty’s Divine Hall!"

"Let’s go, everyone. I believe His Majesty will naturally provide us with answers to any questions we may have."

At this point, the group was standing at the main gate of the Divine Hall.

The gate to the Divine Hall was vast and empty. Looking inside, they could see the dim glow of Magic Crystals dotting the surroundings.

Everything seemed so tranquil and sacred.

"My Lord Bishops, please proceed. Paul will wait for you outside the gate."

Paul was meticulous. After speaking, he ordered his men to form two lines, standing to the left and right of the massive Divine Hall’s entrance.

Now, both Oleg and the High-Tier Aemon exchanged a glance.

Then, after taking a deep breath, all the bishops fell silent and, with a tacit understanding, walked into the Divine Hall together.

The space inside the Divine Hall was even larger than any of them had imagined.

One could say that the inside of the mountain, from its waist to its peak, had been completely hollowed out.

Within, massive, gray Rock Steel pillars were arranged in a staggered grid, both horizontally and vertically, supporting the entire space.

Throughout the enormous space, both the floor and the distant walls had the distinct texture of metal.

It was cold, desolate, and empty; the echoes of their footsteps were clearly audible.

The deeper they went, the more the bishops could feel a terrifying fluctuation of Magic Power, and even an unimaginably dense tide of magic.

The Forest Wolf led the way, as aloof as a peacock, making no attempt to communicate with the bishops, either physically or spiritually.

’There must be an unimaginable store of Magic Crystals within this Divine Hall.’

Feeling the fluctuations, the bishops could predict this much even without deliberately using their Extraordinary Power to sense it.

After all, it wasn’t as if the bishops had never witnessed a grand scene before; they were all too familiar with this phenomenon of a dense tide of magic.

Throughout the walk, the bishops’ expressions were incredibly solemn and apprehensive.

They dared not use any Extraordinary Power, following the Forest Wolf deeper into the Divine Hall like ordinary people.

After making several turns and walking for about ten more minutes, the bishops finally rounded a corner in the cold, dim Divine Hall and saw a brilliant radiance.

Magic Crystals!!!

It was the light of Magic Crystals scattered on the ground.

And it wasn’t just one or two, but a small mountain of Magic Crystal Ore.

The ore glowed with various colors corresponding to different Attributes, and its brilliant light completely illuminated the space around what looked like another gateway.

They hadn’t even entered the main hall yet, but the scene before them was enough to show that His Majesty’s proxy had already acquired a fortune far beyond what any ordinary person could imagine.

As the bishops slowly approached the main hall’s gate, their eyes filled with shock and uncertainty.

Finally, the bishops saw even more Magic Crystals.

After passing through a colossal wall and a gateway similar to the Divine Hall’s entrance, the full extent of the main hall was finally revealed!

Magic Crystals!!!

An unimaginable quantity of Magic Crystals!

Moreover, these were all Middle-High Tier Magic Crystals; the number of Middle Tier ones was comparatively small.

The majority of them were High Tier Magic Crystals.

The Magic Crystals were piled densely on the floor, at least several meters thick.

The Forest Wolf nonchalantly stepped onto the crystals and began leading the bishops up the slope of Magic Crystals.

Finally, when the bishops reached the top of the pile, they could see everything clearly.

They looked around the resplendent space, feeling the Magic Power so dense it was like stepping into water.

Within this main hall, an area of at least ten square kilometers was completely covered in piles of Magic Crystals.

The terrifying quantity of Magic Crystals, and a Magic Environment so dense that a single breath could invigorate one’s spirit.

The bishops were utterly dumbfounded.

"This!!! Even the war reserves of the Three Great Empires might not compare to this, right?"

Looking at the extravagant scene before him,

Aemon finally couldn’t help but exclaim in shock.

This monumental fortune had thoroughly shaken even these bishops, who were accustomed to grand scenes.

After all, the Truth Church, at its peak, had only ever controlled the faith and power of a single Kingdom.

And they knew the situation of the Eagle Kingdom all too well.

The regular reserves of its Royal Family, and even the wealth from the Magic Crystal Ores possessed by the Church’s two great Defensive Armies back in the day, didn’t amount to even a tenth of this.

Of course, this wasn’t to say that Lince’s reserve of Magic Crystal Ore truly surpassed that of the Eagle Kingdom.

After all, while the Eagle Kingdom only had one High Tier Magic Crystal Ore mine, it possessed quite a few Middle Tier ones.

The combined wealth of all the Duchies within the Kingdom would certainly not be less than Lince’s.

But Lince’s advantage was the exceedingly high quality of his Magic Crystal Ore.

Based on their current impression, the bishops felt that Lince’s wealth could even rival that of the Royal Family of one of the Three Great Empires.

Whether this fortune could truly match that of an Empire’s Royal Family, no one could say for sure.

But considering the Demon Beast Mountain Range—while the territory it occupied was smaller than that of the Human Countries, it wasn’t by much.

Furthermore, the Mountain Range Earth Dragon and Red Dragon Crimson occupied one of the seven great mountain ranges deep within the Demon Beast Mountain Range. Logically, the amount of Magic Crystals they could provide should indeed be greater than that of an ordinary human Kingdom.

This was what had enabled Lince to possess such a terrifying reserve of war-ready Magic Crystals.

And just as the bishops were reeling from the shock of their surroundings, they finally saw it.

There, in the middle of the main hall piled high with Magic Crystals, a behemoth that had been lying on the crystals like a small mountain, difficult to notice at first, was slowly raising its body.
