Chapter 70: [70]The Administrator’s Deficit, Re-Leveling Protocol

"And you need to reach the top to lock the door behind us," Aria realized. Her tactical mind instantly caught up to his calculations.

"Exactly," Vahn nodded his head. "But the Spire’s inner architecture is bound by strict progression metrics."

"The elevators, the transition matrices, the higher tier command consoles are all level gated. As a Level 0 player, the system simply will not permit me to access the upper floors, regardless of my physical stats."

"The engine will literally treat me as a solid wall if I try to bypass the barriers."

"So you have to grind," Sia concluded. Her military posture was rigid.

"You must level up through the standard parameters. Commander, I will assemble the Vanguard. We will dive into the highest density hunting zones immediately. We will funnel every ounce of experience points into your reservoir."

"No," Vahn said softly. But the absolute finality in his tone left no room for argument.

"The White City requires its Vanguard. The refugees need stability. If the Galactic Overlords decide to send another Herald, this sanctuary needs you."

"You, Aria, and Hana will remain here and fortify our position."

"You are not going alone, Vahn," Aria stepped forward. Her green eyes flashed with fierce defiance.

"You just survived a terminal curse. You just dragged this entire planet back from the brink of deletion. I am not letting you run off into the wilderness by yourself to farm monsters!"

"I’m not going into the wilderness, Aria," Vahn smiled gently.

He reached out to tuck a stray strand of pink gold hair behind her ear.

This simple and intimate gesture instantly shattered her fierce facade. A bright blush bloomed across her cheeks.

"I am going to the core of the Spire. I am going to the Tower of Combat."

Hana gasped in shock. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"The Tower? Vahn, the forums were terrified of that place before the Convergence! It’s a localized instance designed purely for absolute slaughter. It’s a meat grinder!"

"It is a highly concentrated reservoir of high tier data," Vahn corrected smoothly.

"It is a hundred floor gauntlet that scales infinitely. It is the fastest and most optimal route to bypass the level gates. I can generate a century’s worth of progression in a matter of days."

"But it’s a solo instance," Sia noted. Her voice was heavy with realization.

"The system entirely prevents party members from entering. You would be completely cut off from the Priestess’s restorative magic. You would be cut off from our logistics."

"I am aware of the parameters," Vahn said. He turned to look out the window at the towering dark silhouette of the Spire stretching into the golden sky.

"The Overlords are watching us now. The golden sky is an invitation, but it is also a countdown."

"If I do not reach the apex and claim the Prime Seeds to secure our global firewall, the armada will arrive. And when they do, a ten block dome of white marble will not save us."

Aria looked at his broad back. Her heart ached with the sheer unrelenting burden he carried.

He was always calculating, always moving three steps ahead of the apocalypse. He had built them a home, but he refused to rest inside it.

"How long?" Aria asked quietly as she stepped up right behind him.

"A few days. A week at most," Vahn replied without turning around. "I will clear the floors with absolute efficiency. I won’t waste time on standard combat protocols."

"Promise me you won’t do anything recklessly self destructive just to save a few seconds on a timer," Aria demanded. Her voice was thick with emotion.

"You are a Level 0 player. I don’t care how high your base stats are. The Spire plays dirty."

Vahn turned around. His deep purple eyes were entirely soft. He didn’t offer a robotic assessment of his survival probabilities.

He simply looked at the woman who had poured her soul into his chest to keep him alive.

"I promise, Priestess," Vahn swore softly. "I will return fully intact."

He walked past them, heading toward the heavy oak doors of the penthouse.

The time for rest was over. The Architect needed to reclaim his throne, and the Tower of Combat was waiting to be broken.

The transition into the central pillar of the Chronos Spire was entirely devoid of the majestic grace that usually accompanied the transition matrices.

Vahn Ryker stepped through the massive rusted iron doors at the base of the tower.

Instantly, he was swallowed by an oppressive and suffocating darkness!

The air inside the Tower of Combat tasted of dried blood and ancient dust. The architecture was brutalist. It completely lacked the intricate glowing runic carvings of the outer floors.

This wasn’t a place designed for exploration or magical wonder. It was a sterile and unforgiving testing ground meant to violently filter the weak from the strong.

Vahn stood in the center of a massive circular gladiatorial arena constructed of dark pitted stone.

He wore his simple black combat jacket and standard dark trousers.

He didn’t even bother drawing the Soul Bound Shadow Blade from his hip. He simply cracked his knuckles and rolled his shoulders as he waited for the system to render the first challenge.

"Ding!"

A harsh and grating mechanical chime echoed through the vast chamber.

[System Notification]

[Welcome to the Tower of Combat. Participant: Vahn Ryker.]

[Evaluating Participant Data...]

[Warning! Anomaly Detected! Participant possesses Mythic Tier Administrative Code.]

Vahn’s lips twitched into a faint smirk. He had expected this.

The Spire’s central core was the most heavily monitored sector of the integration engine. It was designed to prevent elite players from cheating the lower floors with overpowered artifacts.

The system wasn’t done!

[Initiating Core Defense Protocol.][External Data Manipulation is strictly prohibited within the Tower of Combat.]

↳ Origin Energy: SEALED.

↳ Architect Permissions: SUSPENDED.

↳ EXP Converter: RESTRICTED TO PERSONAL UPGRADES.

A heavy invisible weight slammed down on Vahn’s shoulders!

The brilliant azure and emerald circuits that usually hovered at the edge of his vision violently flickered and died. His Verdant Chronos Sight was completely sealed!

The comforting localized hum of his Administrator privileges vanished. His ability to effortlessly rewrite gravity or delete oxygen simply disappeared.

He reached out with his mind, trying to grasp the foundational code of the room. Nothing happened.

The room remained completely and stubbornly physical.
