Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System-Chapter 80: The Currency and the Global Event
Kai was checking his inventory since he had also received free Survivor’s Medals after reaching Level 15...
[ Survivor’s Medal: It can be used to conduct transactions in the Gene Skill Store, with the elusive Secret Merchant, or among the Gene Traders. ]
Without a doubt, these Medals were awesome, and as a matter of fact, he was planning to use these Medals as the currency in his shelter.
Perhaps, one Survivor’s Medal would be worth 5 Gift Packs of their choice.
The only reason he was giving them for free so far was because of their situation... They also had a recent emergency since he could never survive the Mech Siege alone.
Furthermore, they were basically his employees right now.
As the leader of the shelter, he’d be able to command every member, and if they did not want his orders, they could just leave this place.
As he checked his inventory, he realized that he already had 11 of them! Most of them came from his rewards just now.
Still, the others who weren’t Survivors from Earth didn’t have any way of obtaining the Survivor’s Medal. These medals were obtained from System Rewards after all.
"Maybe Energy Cores?" Kai mused. This would certainly make them work harder... However, it might force those who weren’t even combat experts to fight the Mechanical Army and lead to their deaths.
He didn’t want them to sacrifice their lives like that.
In the end, he decided to start limiting the supplies he’d give to others, so they wouldn’t get too dependent on him...
Perhaps, he’d only provide 5 Gift Packs per day and let the managers take care of it...
’But we should really find other sources of food.’ Kai thought as they had to find some other sources of food. Since they are no longer underground, they should consider growing vegetables or even fruit trees at this point!
Then, as he was thinking of this, the Global Event Message appeared!
Ding!
[ Global Event is Here! ]
[ Upcoming Hostile Operation: Field Tyrants ]
[ Countdown: 10 days ]
[ Objective: Hunt or survive against newly deployed mechanical Field Bosses appearing across the continent. Each Field Tyrant will patrol a designated zone, forcing survivors to either avoid or confront them. ]
[ Failure Condition: Shelter population reduced below threshold due to Field Tyrant activity. ]
[ Rewards: High Experience Points, Rare Loot Drops, Survivor’s Medal, Gene Enhancement Materials, and others ]
[ Additional Notice: Field Tyrants are unique boss‑class constructs. Each of them has specialized combat procedures and devastating area attacks. Survivors are advised to form hunting parties before engaging. ]
[ Estimated Enemy Composition: Tyrant‑class Boss Units, Sentinel Escorts, Spyder Rangers ]
[ Special Reminder: Gene Traders may appear in random locations during the event. Survivors can exchange Survivor’s Medals for Gene Skills, Enhancement Serums, or rare genetic resources. ]
Every Survivors who came from Earth received the same message.
Unlike the Mech Siege, this wasn’t about defending a shelter, it was about the AI unleashing boss‑class constructs into the open fields.
These machines were designed to dominate entire regions, forcing survivors to either hide or risk everything in battle.
Shelters erupted in chaos...
"Field Tyrants?! Out in the open?!"
"We can’t just sit behind walls, can we? I think avoiding them is the best option!"
"Boss‑class units... this is suicide for low-level Survivors... Thankfully, we have ten days to prepare. At least that should be enough."
The reminder about Gene Traders added fuel to the fire. Survivors are already considering the possibility of trading their hard-earned Survivor’s Medals for Gene Skills or Enhancement Serums. For many, this was the first real chance to evolve beyond their limits. But it came with a deadly price, they would probably have to face the Tyrants first, to find these Traders.

Kai stared at the glowing notification.
"Field Tyrants... and Spyder Rangers? Is that similar to the artillery? I hope not. That’s too much. A weaker version should be enough." He mused.
Right now, his new skills, Battle Trance and Spirit Pulse, suddenly felt more vital than ever. The thought of Gene Traders appearing during the event made his heart race.
’If I can find one, I could trade my Survivor’s Medals for more enhancements. That could change everything.’
But he knew the danger.
Even without meeting them yet, boss units aren’t like Sentinels. They’re designed to crush entire groups.
"I guess Atom will be the key to this event." Kai muttered as he looked at his door, where Atom was.

At this time, Victor was in the workshop, dismantling a broken Sentinel unit, when the notification appeared. His wrench slipped from his hand when he saw it...
"Field Tyrants, Sentinels, and Spyders... What in the world are we getting into?" He wasn’t sure if this was better than Mech Siege or not. Nonetheless, he knew that if someone managed to bring down a boss-class enemy, that could only be Kai.
Victor’s eyes were filled with hope.
He could only trust the miracles that Kai could make... Perhaps, the event wasn’t just a threat, but an opportunity to make their Shelter Leader even stronger!
As a matter of fact, everyone in the New Haven-45 had similar reactions as soon as they saw the message.
Aurora was outside the shelter, carefully collecting any valuable plants, when the system message flashed before her eyes.
She froze, clutching her basket.
"Boss units... roaming the fields?" she whispered.
Her heart pounded since the open plains would no longer be safe.
Every trip outside could mean running into a Tyrant and its escorts. But then she remembered the reminder about Gene Traders.
"If I can find one... maybe I can trade for a Gene Skill. Something to help me more with the plants."
She only has two Survivor’s Medal but she was hopeful that they could be used for a trade. Then, she tightened her grip on the basket and prayed silently.
"I hope Kai will have a plan to kill that thing."
If someone could bring them to victory, that was definitely their Shelter Leader! Without a doubt, they were putting their trust in him!
