Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System-Chapter 51: Savior!
"This is messed up..." Jonas’ voice was heavy, filled with indignation. He knew he would die before he could even begin his journey.
Terrence and Aurora shared the same thought.
But then, something happened.
Clank... Clank... Clank!
Pssh!
Several smoke grenades rolled across the ground, hissing as thick clouds erupted. None of them had noticed the grenades until the smoke began to spread, swallowing the garbage field in gray mist.
Terrence blinked in confusion. ’What’s going on?’
Out of nowhere, a figure emerged. She was clad in a familiar uniform.
"That’s..." Terrence’s eyes widened. He recognized it instantly, it was the Survivor Gear given to all Foreign Survivors transported from Earth.
The figure was a woman, carrying hatchets in both hands, with several more strapped across her back. She was clearly prepared for battle.
With a single strike, she cleaved through one of the Hounds. Her blow landed on the weakest point of its design, the chest. And just like that, the machine collapsed instantly.
The remaining Hounds turned, but another figure was already upon them. His weapon wasn’t an advanced blade, but it pierced the head of a Hound so efficiently!
Needless to say, they were Kai and Claire.
Claire’s Talent granted her immense physical strength, while Kai’s physique had already reached a D‑ rating. His muscles carried enough power to punish the Hounds directly.

[ +200 Experience Points ]
The notification surprised Terrence a bit, but he confirmed that one of the Hounds he had damaged was destroyed!
The remaining mechanical beasts tried to regroup, but Kai raised his revolver and fired. His shots were precise, each one striking critical points. At the same time, several more survivors arrived, suppressing the enemy units with coordinated fire.
In seconds, the machines lay in pieces, their red optics fading to black!
They won!

Terrence didn’t know Kai and the others, and Kai didn’t know him either. Still, they were all human, and they shared a common enemy.
More importantly, the three of them wore the Survivor Gear unique to Foreign Survivors like themselves. That alone was enough to create a simple bond.
"There’s a shelter here... Let’s move before the artillery starts focusing on us," Kai said curtly. He didn’t waste time with introductions, simply turning and leading the way. After all, the smoke wouldn’t last forever...
Terrence and the two followed without hesitation as they glanced at the group of people carrying the Hounds back with them, probably to erase their traces.
Under the cover of the smoke grenades, they slipped into a narrow passage hidden beneath heaps of scrap.
Inside the tunnel, there was a faint glow of emergency lamps that guided them deeper underground.
Claire finally broke the silence.
"You’re entering Haven‑45," she said...
"I’m Claire, and our shelter leader is that guy, Kai."
Terrence nodded while still catching his breath. "We didn’t know there was a shelter here... We came from Haven‑15."
His tone carried both relief and sorrow. Aurora and Jonas quickly introduced themselves as well, while Kai remained silent, listening to their conversation.
As they descended further, the differences became obvious. Haven‑45 was in poor condition compared to Haven‑15. The walls were patched with scavenged metal sheets, the corridors were narrow and uneven.
The air also smelled faintly of rust and damp earth. Yet, despite its flaws, it was already a good hideout. Being underground made it far harder for the machines to detect, despite having no jammers like Haven-15.
Aurora’s curiosity broke through her exhaustion. "Right... There’s a battle going on. Are there only two of you Foreign Survivors here?"
Claire shook her head. "No... There are a few more."
Terrence gently nodded. "How about the Augmented Humans here? Since the Mech Siege is ongoing, the System says shelters will be targeted soon. To survive, I think we need the number of Augmented Humans to be high."
Claire gave a wry smile. "There are no Augmented Humans here."
The words struck Terrence like a hammer. He had assumed she was hiding something with that smile, but her bluntness left no room for doubt.
Haven‑45 truly had no Augmented Humans. That explained the patched walls, the improvised defenses, and the weary faces of survivors moving through the corridors. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Still, Terrence couldn’t help but think she might be keeping secrets. In Haven‑15, Augmented Humans had been the backbone of their defense. Without them, how could Haven‑45 possibly stand against the siege?
For now, however, Claire simply gestured for them to rest. Medics arrived, tending to their injuries immediately...
Jonas winced as his arm was cleaned and bandaged, while Aurora sighed in relief as her cuts were treated.
Terrence just sat quietly with his revolver resting on his lap, his mind still replaying the fall of Haven‑15.
Soon, food was brought to them. The rations were simple, sliced meatloaf and instant noodles...
’Did they have extra Food Giftpacks?’
The three exchanged glances but didn’t question it for long... It was already a feast. They ate quickly, as they felt hungry from that smell.
Of course, they were treated well, but Terrence knew it wasn’t just kindness. Haven‑45 probably needed information, and the three survivors from Haven‑15 had plenty to share.
In any case, they had to prove that they deserve to stay in this shelter.

Just as the three began to relax, the ground trembled.
Boom!
A low rumble echoed through the tunnels, followed by a violent shake that sent dust raining from the ceiling.
Plates clattered as the survivors instinctively braced themselves.
"Earthquake?" Aurora gasped, clutching Jonas’ arm.
But they soon heard someone reporting the situation. "Artillery! They’ve shifted fire toward us!"
Terrence’s heart sank. Haven‑45 was being targeted!
Soon, Kai made his move and confirmed that the shells were detonating across the surface, tearing apart the surroundings of the shelter.
Thankfully, the underground depth spared them from direct hits, but the concussions were powerful enough to rattle the entire structure.
Kai thought for a moment before he shouted... "Stay calm! They haven’t locked onto our exact position yet... they could just be trying to force someone out, make us panic and flee, so they can mark the shelter’s location!"
