Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 993: Zombie Shane
Hendryx, the leader of the Overlord Clan’s outpost, sighed as he knew that they had to hit this new shelter immediately before it could build higher walls and install more traps and defensive structures...
"Prepare the raiding parties. Tell all our elites to return here within two days. Whether that man survived or not, Blue Haven will burn. If he’s there, we’ll finish what you failed to do."
The surviving members exchanged uneasy glances. They had seen the strength of the unknown man firsthand, and the thought of facing him again filled them with dread. But the order had been given.
They weren’t sure if even their elite Survivors who had reached Level 55 could win against that man, but they had no other choice but to comply and hope for the best.
Just like that, the Overlord Clan’s branch was moving to strike.
**
In the meantime, Shane was already making his way toward their base...
Fiona’s rats had already known their location, and he just needed to follow that rat’s guide to reach their place. His pace was steady, conserving stamina while covering ground efficiently.
He deliberately used the coastline to travel, even if it could be treacherous... It was littered with roaming Sea Creature Zombies and scattered hordes that had drifted inland, but it was not a problem for him.
To avoid unnecessary battles, Shane activated one of his most useful tools, the Zombie Mask.
He liked its passive abilities, the Undead Aura, and with the addition of his necklace’s Deathly Shroud, it was simply perfect.
[ Undead Aura (Passive): Low-Tier and Mid-Tier zombies ignore the wearer unless directly attacked. ]
[ Deathly Shroud (Passive): Envelop the surroundings in an invisible shroud of mystical aura that clouds the minds of zombies, rendering the wearer invisible to their undead senses. ]
Thanks to these two passive abilities working together, even the high-tier Zombies weren’t able to notice their appearance.
With the mask’s aura surrounding him, Shane slipped past wandering packs of undead without drawing
attention.
The creatures sniffed the air, confused, but ultimately turned away as if he were just another moving corpse.
This allowed him to travel faster, cutting through areas that would normally require long detours or exhausting skirmishes against Zombies...

After more than 12 hours had passed, Shane was already getting closer.
He didn’t have that super expensive Haste Scroll after all, so he was taking a lot of time moving despite the Zombie Mask’s assistance.
On the other hand, while the Overlord Clan’s outpost was gathering its elites for the raid, Hendryx, the leader and the current owner of the safe fishing zone, continued his daily routine.
Unlike Eugene, who possessed the rare Merman Physique Talent that allowed him to claim multiple fishing zones, Hendryx’s ability was far simpler but still effective.
His talent was called Zapper, and it was an Epic Grade Talent. Anything he touched carried a surge of lightning energy.
It wasn’t flashy in combat compared to other talents, but for fishing, it was perfect.
With a single touch to the water, currents of electricity spread out in a controlled radius...
Bzzzt~
Just like that, fish stunned by the shock floated to the surface, where his helpers quickly hauled them aboard.
Hendryx only needed four men to manage the nets and baskets, while he focused on directing the catch.
This was his daily life after being assigned here...
Every week, he would head out to the zone with his small crew. The boat was sturdy, reinforced with various special materials from the Survivor Store, and carried large storage containers for the weekly transport of fish to the Overlord Clan’s shelters.
"Haul them fast," Hendryx ordered. His hand then sparked as he tapped the edge of the boat. A ripple of lightning spread across the water, and dozens of fish floated up. His helpers scrambled to scoop them with nets, piling them into baskets.
The routine was efficient. Within an hour, the boat was already half‑filled. Hendryx repeated the process, his talent draining Spirit Points but this talent was yielding results far greater than traditional fishing.
"Keep the baskets sealed. We’ll need them fresh for transport," he reminded, watching as the men stacked the catch.
The crew worked in silence, accustomed to this daily task...
Lightning, haul, store. Lightning, haul, store...
It was a repetitive job, but it was feeding a great number of people, and they were also earning a lot from this.
Hendryx’s talent made him valuable to the Clan, and his fishing zone was considered one of their reliable food sources.
At this time, Hendryx planned to have his afternoon tea... It was his small luxury every afternoon and it was provided by the main branch to leaders like him...
It was an expensive tea that boosts Spirit Points permanently. Each cup of tea only gives about 3 to 5 Spirit Points increase in his max capacity, but it was already a huge deal since it wasn’t temporary.
Unfortunately, he was unaware that Shane was already closing in. The man who had killed the Sea King and the Zombie Lord was moving steadily toward the outpost, and soon, they would be facing him...
***
After several more hours, Shane finally reached the outskirts of the Overlord Clan’s outpost. It was already dark once again as he reached the place...
The glow of torches could be seen along the half-built walls, and the sound of guards patrolling could also be heard...
Shane then stopped, adjusting the Zombie Mask.
This time, he wasn’t going to slip past unnoticed. He wanted them to see him... However, it would be a different experience...
He decided to use one of his masks’ effects.
[ Undying Metamorphosis (Active): Embrace the essence of the Zombie and undergo a metamorphosis, turning the wearer into a formidable undead entity. Cost: 200 Spirit Points/30 minutes. ]
Shane triggered the ability.
His body convulsed as deathly energy burst through him.
His veins suddenly darkened, his muscles bulged, and his skin hardened into a pale, corpse-like texture. His eyes even glowed faintly red as his frame expanded...
He was now almost three meters tall!
He even had bone-like protrusions forming along his shoulders and arms.
He suddenly looked like an Armored Tyrant Zombie! A hulking monstrosity with terrifying presence, yet his mind remained sharp and human...
It was all just transformation ability!
The guards at the gate froze when they saw him.
"What the hell is that?! Our detections didn’t notice him until now..." one shouted, raising his rifle.
"How did it get here... It passed through all our traps! This is suspicious..."
"Someone might’ve summoned it."
Nonetheless, his origin didn’t matter now. They had to kill him!
Just like that, gunfire erupted.
Bullets slammed into Shane’s transformed body, but the hardened flesh and the death aura absorbed the impact. The rounds barely scratched him, bouncing off with dull thuds...
Shane continued walking forward and he seemed so unstoppable.
"Guns aren’t working! Switch to blades!" the squad leader shouted...
The guards dropped their rifles and drew their special swords...
Their elites haven’t returned yet, but a High-Tier Zombie wasn’t something they were afraid of.
Soon, blades forged with high-grade materials, designed to pierce armored zombie, were drawn. They charged as they activated their various abilities...
However, Shane also had another active skill from his Zombie Mask...
[ Dreadful Roar (Active): Unleash a deafening roar to strike terror into the hearts of enemies and cause nearby zombies to tremble in fear. Cost: 100 Spirit Points for each use. ]
A monstrous roar erupted from his throat, echoing across the outpost. The sound was unnatural, like a beast from the abyss. The guards faltered, but it wasn’t enough to push them back...
Unfortunately for them, Shane had a lot of Spirit Points!
Roar! Roar! Roar!
He did the same move three more times, spending 400 Spirit Points!
Because of that, their knees started trembling as their grips loosened on their swords.
Even some wandering low-tier zombies outside the outpost walls shrieked and scattered, terrified by the roar. Even hardened survivors who were resting inside the outpost felt their hearts seize in fear.
Now, they realized that the opponent outside was something they had to kill at all costs!
Shane didn’t stop.
He swung his arm, the sheer force sending one guard flying into the wall.
Bang!
Bones cracked on impact. Another survivor charged with his sword, but Shane caught the blade with his mutated hand.
Bam!
Sparks flew as the steel screeched against his hardened bone. Shane twisted his fingers and snapped the weapon in half, then slammed the guard into the ground.
Boom!
The remaining three tried to circle him as they triggered various skills to boost their morale or courage to fight...
"Surround him! Aim for the joints!" one shouted in desperation....
However, Zombie Shane just smiled...
His glowing eyes locked onto them.
Shane moved faster than they expected, his massive frame was deceptively agile and surprised them all. Then, he grabbed one by the throat, lifting him effortlessly before tossing him into another!
Thud!
The last guard swung desperately, with his blade slicing across Shane’s shoulder. The strike left a shallow mark, but Shane barely flinched.
"You monster!" The man exclaimed as he poured 300 Spirit Points in that Sword Slash...
Shane, however, didn’t care as he grabbed the man’s wrist and crushed it with terrifying strength...
