Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 541 The Raid Party
541 The Raid Party
Shane had already tried his Bio-Armor in combat, and with the help of his A.I. Assistant, he was able to gauge how good it was. However, even the Bio-Armor has its limits, so in order to fully utilize this incredible armor, he also had to be strong enough to lessen its burden during their integration.
In any case, Shane asked the three magicians to prepare for the next few days since he planned to bring them to raid the citadel.
Because of that, he gave them a room for themselves!
Sona set up an arcane workshop as she experimented with her frost magic to develop defensive enchantments for the walls.
Otto also had his own residence, but he wanted to just work on what Shane had assigned him to do. He was stationed in the defensive line and used his fire magic to destroy waves of zombies from afar.
Finally, Zephyrion remained in a room that Shane had arranged for him… It seemed that he was also preparing for their upcoming raid.
"Good… Once we raided that Citadel, there was no going back. We have to be at our peak condition." Shane muttered as he learned about everyone's situation.
Three days after the portal to the other two shelters was established, Shane gathered his team as he laid out the mission details.
Thankfully, Ghostcaller Sol and Kaelira had already conducted some scouting outside the citadel that was about three hours away from their shelter.
"We're raiding Maggotfall Citadel in the next two days." No one was surprised as soon as he said this.
Instead, they were all excited to get into action. They had received so many benefits from Shane after all. Tokens, Potions, Spirit Stones, and even some various high-level gears were given to them. They were all itching to show their abilities.
Nonetheless, the report from the Ghostcaller and the Vulpian calmed everyone down.
Apparently, the Necrotic Swarm Sovereign that Shane was targeting was a hive-minded abomination.
Indeed, the citadel where it was located had legions of large undead insects under its command...
"We'll need a strategy," Shane continued. "And I need each of you to be at your best."
Kaelira's ears twitched. "Stealth should get us inside without being noticed—at least at first. The insects' senses will get stronger the further we get... I suggest that we at least try to cut down their numbers while outside the citadel."
Kain the Werewolf rolled his shoulders. "I'll be in the front. I don't care how big this thing is—I'll rip it apart."
Kaelira shook her head and explained. "The smallest insect was the size of an infant while the largest one is as huge as an adult human. We should consider bombarding them first, or we will be overwhelmed."
Shane nodded at this and immediately spoke up.
"I'll be the one preparing for the bombardment. I have a good plan for that…" Shane said with a mysterious smile on his face.
Jafal nodded at this as he also volunteered to fight in the front lines.
Borek, the blacksmith, pondered for a moment before looking at Shane.
"Are you planning to burn down the citadel… If that's the case, if we get enough materials, I might be able to forge something that could provide you all with some fire resistance."
Shane was delighted as soon as he heard this. "Very well… Whatever item you need, I'll get them as long as they're in the Marketplace."
Sona wanted to inform them that getting close to her would help them feel safe from the fire, but in the end, she knew that she couldn't just cover for everyone… Instead, she just pushed the idea of burning down the citadel.
"Fire and frost should work well against insect-based undead."
Otto, the Fire Magician, grinned. "Then I'll make sure it burns..."
Zephyrion remained still and nodded. "Leave the undead minions to me. I'll turn them against their master."
In the meantime, Nia, Vernon, Kale, and Lysandra were just silently listening to their conversation. They have just realized that the seven recruits that Shane brought to the shelter were all incredibly talented.
This was especially true after learning that three of them were magicians!
It was such an amazing addition to their current force! Then, they were the most surprised when they learned that Zephyrion was actually a Necromancer. They knew very well what kind of ability they had, and for sure, Shane would no longer have an issue creating an Army to raid the citadel.
As for Shenlong, the Legendary Monk, he was just observing silently as his main task in this raid was to help Shane with the battle against the Zombie Lord.
Shane smiled at the group as he proceeded to explain their plan…

Two days had quickly passed.
After having their breakfast and wearing all the gear they needed, Shane and his team moved out of Eclipse Domain. Today was the day they would raid the Maggotfall Citadel.
During this time, they had meticulously planned every detail of this raid—entry routes, attack formations, and contingencies for the Swarm Sovereign's army of insects. And now, it was time to execute.
The Raid Party consisted of Shane, Lysandra, Nia, Vernon, Kale, Kaelira, Kain, Jafal, Sona, Otto, Zephyrion, Sol, Shenlong, and finally, their newest addition: Tundra, the Terrorist.

He had recently completed his Zombie Lord Raid, and he was even the 11th killer of it… Shane knew that he would be a great addition to the team. Furthermore, with his experience and strong combat abilities, Shane could feel assured leaving some of the dangerous work to him.
At this time, the number of Zombie Lord killers had already reached nineteen!
If Shane could succeed today, he could be the 20th Zombie Lord killer.
"Let's go…"
It was a three-hour journey from the Eclipse Domain.
Shane had, of course, asked the chat if there were other Survivors who had tried raiding it, but in the end, no one answered.
It seemed that even if someone tried, they had probably failed and were all eliminated in the process.
These round or fat Zombies were blocking the road that they needed to pass through.
"Heads up," Kaelira muttered… "We've got company. Spitter Zombies."
Shane nodded as he also noticed the presence of the bloated Spitter Zombies…
As they got closer, they saw their swollen, discolored throats ready to spit some acid at them.
As soon as they were noticed, the Spitters opened their maggot-infested jaws and unleashed a barrage of acidic bile toward the group.
"Sona!" Shane shouted. Well, he also activated his Aura Sentinel but he also wanted to see how Sona would stop the attack. Sona smiled at this as she waved her staff and froze the projectiles coming at them. She couldn't make a huge ice barrier after all.
Nonetheless, Kale moved with his new Halberd made by Borek… He was at the very front so as soon as the frozen acid spit came at him, he immediately crushed them with his Halberd.
Now, the Spitter Zombies needed a few seconds to ready their second volley of Acid Spit. It was time for the others to attack.
"Kill them!" Shane commanded.
Kaelira sprinted ahead as she almost vanished from their sight, before slitting the throat of the nearest Spitter…
Thud…
[ You have eliminated a Spitter Zombie. ]
Otto knew about the Spitter Zombie's explosion. So, as per Shane's instruction, he immediately burned the Zombie to stop it from building up gas to explode.
Kain, in his werewolf form, dashed forward to assist the Vulpian, tearing into another Spitter with his claws before ripping its head clean off.
[ You have eliminated a Spitter Zombie. ]
He was resistant to the acidic properties of the Spitter Zombies, so he wasn't worried about using his claws or getting too close to the Spitter Zombies.
Similar to Otto's task, Tundra also used his gloves and touched the Spitter Zombies, who had collapsed and detonated the bombs to crush them immediately.
Of course, everyone taking part in the elimination of the Spitter Zombies seemed to be overkill, but Shane knew that they needed such cooperation to get ready for the real deal. After all, they never had a practice fighting together.
After seeing that they had eliminated the Spitter Zombies without any issues and also by using some attacks that require teamwork, Shane felt satisfied.
"Don't get too comfortable. We keep moving." He reminded.
An hour into their journey, they reached the ruins of a collapsed overpass.
This time, they encountered a horde of Jumper Zombies… However, these Jumper Zombies seemed to be a variant as they all had about an arm's length of tongue!
There was no doubt that this was a different or new version of Jumper Zombies. They might even be related to the Licker Zombies.
Soon, a dozen of them started leaping around as they seemed excited about their presence.
"They're new… Don't get too close. Use long-range weapons." Shane said, as he wasn't sure about the special abilities of these variants.
Those tongues, plus their incredible speed, could become a problem in close combat.
"I can deal with them…" Lysandra whispered.
As the Zombies leaped, she raised her rifle and shot at them, nailing two in the skull before they could land on the ground!
