Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 1049: The New Weapon
After greeting Raze and the others, Klara and her team marched out into the chaos.
Behind her, crates were hauled by survivors from New Genesis Shelter. They were heavy containers marked with the insignia of the Alchemist Division.
Inside those crates were the newest creations of Alchemist Anna, the woman whose genius had saved countless lives.
Anna had worked tirelessly with Cloud, Shane’s advanced A.I., to analyze every serum and stabilizer the defenders had stockpiled... the Aegis Serum, the Super Soldier Serum, the Z‑Virus Stabilizers, and dozens of experimental vaccines.
Alone, none of them was enough. But combined, refined, and weaponized through Cloud’s simulations, they had become something new.
The result was a weapon unlike anything the defenders had ever seen... Anti‑Zombie Injectors.
They made weapons that looked like heavy rifles, but instead of bullets, they fired pressurized darts filled with specialized solutions. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Each dart carried a payload of anti-virus compounds designed to destabilize the necrotic cells inside the zombies. Once injected, the solution spread rapidly, breaking down the unnatural regeneration that made the Kings and Lords so difficult to kill.
Of course, these darts weren’t meant to turn Zombie into their original human form or anything. However, it would basically break down their superpower.
It was Anna’s brilliance that made the chemical formulas possible, but it was Cloud’s advanced modeling that ensured they would work against the unpredictable mutations of the undead.
Without both, the injectors would have been impossible.
Klara raised one of the weapons as she aimed at the Rot King Zombie from afar.
"Load the injectors," she ordered.
Her team obeyed.
Survivors slotted cartridges into the rifles, each filled with various shades of blue liquid. Some were designed to burn necrotic tissue, others to destabilize viral cores, and a few were tailored to counter specific mutations like acid secretion or other mystical abilities.
The defenders on the walls looked down in awe.
They had seen plasma cannons, ballistae, and Layla’s storm of knives, but this was something entirely different.
"Target the Kings first," Klara said. "We’ll save the Lords for last."
The team spread out, taking positions behind cover.
On the battlefield, the Zombie Kings pressed forward.
The remaining Armored Kings sprinted across the ruined ground, Rot Kings spread their aura of decay, and Acid Kings dripped corrosive slime. The mechs were holding them back, but barely.
Klara took aim at an Armored King. She squeezed the trigger, and the injector fired with a sharp sound...
Whoosh~
The dart streaked across the battlefield, embedding itself in the creature’s neck, the one part that wasn’t protected by its bone armor.
For a moment, nothing happened. Then the King staggered. Its movements faltered, and its limbs started twitching uncontrollably.
Soon, black veins spread across its body as the solution worked from within, destabilizing the virus that animated it.
"Now!"
Seeing the opportunity, the Juggernaut mech didn’t hesitate and slammed its pile bunker into the weakened King.
Boom!
[ You have eliminated an Armored King Zombie. ]
The creature collapsed instantly, its regeneration gone...
The defenders roared in triumph.
"Again!" Klara shouted.
Her team fired in unison. Dozens of darts streaked through the air, embedding themselves into the bodies of the Zombie Kings.
One Acid King shrieked as the solution neutralized its corrosive slime, its body hardening before crumbling under plasma fire. A Rot King’s aura withered, its decay field collapsed as the injectors burned away its viral core.
The battlefield shifted. This had never happened before...
This was simply too easy, and this might be the way to end this Apocalypse!
Just like that, the defenders weren’t just holding the line, they were pushing back!
On the walls, snipers cheered. "It’s working! They’re falling!"
Even the mechs adjusted their tactics, coordinating with Klara’s team.
Vanguards blasted weakened targets, Juggernauts crushed destabilized Kings, and Phantoms sliced through those whose regeneration had been nullified.
But the true test was yet to come.
The Zombie Lords moved forward with their forms still radiating catastrophic power. Varak’s chains could still smash everyone, Jura spread her toxins, Yor just finished devouring corpses and felt a lot stronger, Syth also blocked most of the Phantom Mechs wreaking havoc, while Dreth’s aura continued to create a field of decay.
Klara steadied her breath. "Aim for the Lords. Focus fire."
Her team raised their injectors.
Varak was the first target. Darts slammed into his chest and arms, piercing through decayed flesh. The Lord roared, chains whipping wildly. But as expected, the solution was slow to act...
The Zombie Lords simply had a different or stronger mutation. The strain of the virus within their bodies was too much!
However, Klara didn’t stop and used various kinds of anti-zombie solutions and fired them en masse!
Thanks to that, the effect finally spread quickly, weakening the viral structures that gave his chains unnatural strength. When a Juggernaut blocked his strike, the chains actually snapped under pressure!
"Hahaha! That Varak is weakening! Fire at him!" a defender shouted.
Next was Jura. The Plague Matron exhaled her toxins, but Klara’s team fired into her bloated body.
The darts injected compounds designed to neutralize airborne pathogens.
They failed to count how many of these injectors were used, but soon, her toxic cloud thinned, then dissipated entirely.
After that, the plasma fire from a Vanguard burned through her weakened flesh, forcing her back.
Yor the Hungry was more difficult.
Every time he devoured a corpse, he grew stronger. But Klara’s team targeted him relentlessly, firing dart after dart into his swollen frame.
Thankfully, its body was huge, and all parts of it could basically be injected as its skin wasn’t too tough.
Soon, the anti-virus solution spread inside him, disrupting his ability to absorb biomass. When he tried to consume the Plague Matron’s corpse to recover his strength, his body convulsed violently, rejecting the flesh!
Just like that, the Zombie Lords, including Syth the Shadow Reaper and Dreth the Rot Sovereign, collapsed.
Boom! Boom!
As soon as they saw the Zombie Lords’ collapsing to the ground, barely alive, the defenders roared louder than ever.
"It’s working!"
"The Lords are weakening!"
"Push forward!"
Klara lowered her rifle, sweat dripping down her brow.
She had fired dozens of darts already, but she knew they couldn’t stop. The injectors were powerful, but the Lords were resilient.
"Keep firing," she ordered. "Don’t let them recover."
Her team obeyed, reloading cartridges and firing again. Then, after some time, the notifications they wanted to see had finally appeared.
[ You have eliminated a Lord-Tier Zombie. ]
