Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 1016: Shameless Questions
Shane was about to leave when something caught his eye.
"...Wait."
He was too focused on the people just now. But now that he looked at it, there were other creatures involved!
He squinted and focused on the chaos below.
’What?’
At first, he really thought the ragged group was just scavengers fighting for scraps. But then he noticed the beasts among them... There were wolves pouncing on the enemies, a massive bear swiping its claws, and even a scaled lizard-like creature thrashing against the Survivor Skills.
Shane’s eyes widened. Summons... Pets...
This made him realize that these weren’t just scavengers fighting for supplies. They were also Foreign Survivors fighting desperately to free their companions who were captured...
Indeed, not too far from them, Shane noticed a few creatures captured by the Survivors with better equipment.
Even the remaining creatures weren’t attacking freely. They were actually bound! Their movements were restricted by chains or even nets.
They would even use binding abilities! Every strike from the better-equipped fighters tightened those bindings, forcing the beasts to turn against their own masters at some point!
Shane finally realized what was going on...
’So that’s it... They’re trying to save their summons. Damn... I know how that feels.’
He thought of his own five or so summons, the bond he had forged with them. The idea of losing them, of watching them enslaved and forced to fight against him, twisted his gut.
Well, he felt sympathy for the ragged fighters below.
But he wouldn’t just act rashly...
A roar echoed across the valley as the bear collapsed...
It wasn’t dead, but it was already exhausted... The chains glowing brighter around its body as the binding skill or ability had completely settled in...
One of the ragged men screamed, "No! Don’t take him! He’s mine!" He charged forward, only to be knocked back by a glowing spear.
Then, one of the armored fighters stepped forward as he believed that this battle was already almost over...
"Enough! You’re facing the River Flow Clan! Leave now, or die here with your beasts!"
Shane froze.
’River Flow Clan...’
He knew that name. They weren’t just another clan, they were part of the Overlord Alliance, one of the dozen clans under the Overlord Clan’s banner.
After Shane absorbed the Blood Talon Clan that was previously part of the Overlord Alliance, he learned a lot of things about how Lancelot and his crew operate.
He also learned about the leading members of the Overlord Alliance.
Their top allied clans were the Arcane Dawn, Crimson Shield, and lastly the River Flow Clan!
Other clans like the Silver Lark, Thunder Roar, Blazing Sun, Iron Forge, Green Haven, Sky Riders, and Shadow Dagger were also very strong clans, but they were not even in the Top 40 Clans.
Shane’s jaw tightened as he suddenly felt angry...
’So it’s them. Overlord’s dogs. Binding summons, enslaving pets...’
Shane actually heard rumors about them in the Regional Chat. It seemed that it was true.
’Hmph~’
Shane’s breath misted in the cold air as his killing intent surged.
"The Overlord Clan... I hate them. And if they’re really part of the River Flow Clan, then there’s no way I’m walking away from this."
He crouched lower as he focused on the battlefield. The scavenger-like fighters were battered...
They all looked desperate, but were still struggling to free their companions. On the other hand, the River Flow Clan warriors were all confident with their glowing weapons and binding spells tightening around the beasts.
Shane’s grip tightened on his weapon.
’If they’re Overlord’s allies, then they’re my enemies too.’
***
Shane’s killing intent surged as he stepped forward... He had already removed his stealth at this point.
’Enough watching.’
His flesh rippled as the Bio‑Armor activated.
Muscle‑like strands burst across his skin, forming together into hardened steel-like plates. The transformation was a little bit grotesque yet majestic after it was done...
Just like that, veins of energy pulsed through the armor, and he became about one foot taller as well.
The River Flow warriors froze when they saw him descend.
"What the hell?!" one shouted.
Shane’s voice could not be recognized at this point.
"I heard you’re from the River Flow Clan... Is that true?" Shane asked to confirm.
"Yes! So now that you know, scram or you will face Lord Lancelot’s wrath!" One of them said with confidence, believing that Lancelot would scare Shane away.
Of course, they weren’t afraid to face Shane. They had defeated Giant Zombies and participated in many Zombie Lord hunts...
However, they didn’t want to face the unknown... They just needed the creatures for now.
Unfortunately for them, Shane would never let them get away from this...
"Good... You’re Overlord’s dogs. I’ll cut you down."
He drew his weapon... It was only a Master‑Grade Reinforced Bone Sword, looted from the Bone‑Armored Tyrant.
However, it was already more than enough.
Using a Mythic Sword against them would be a waste of durability points.
Whoosh~
The blade was pale white, and it may not have active skills, but it had various enhancements like sharpness and piercing boost...
The moment the sword left its sheath, Shane’s Swordmaster’s Domain was triggered.
A battlefield aura spread ten meters around him. This domain was oppressive and suffocating for his enemies..
At the same time, his Strength surged by 5% and Agility by 10%. Then, his stamina consumption dropped.
Of course, the River Flow Clan warriors also felt the Debuff after entering his domain... They realized that their evasion ability had weakened and their movements became sluggish!
"Crap! Use the potions! We’re inside Field Magic!" One of the leaders shouted.
He wasn’t unfamiliar with Field Magic or Domain Abilities. As a matter of fact, even Zombie Lords and some Zombie Kings have such abilities.
Because of that, they were prepared to face such an ability.
Nonetheless, Shane didn’t care and activated the Skill that came with the Swordmaster’s Domain Talent...
"Domain Server," Shane whispered.
The aura intensified... Now, his strikes carried a cutting wave two meters beyond the blade! Every swing was now capable of cleaving multiple foes.
It didn’t end there...
Lightning buzzed across his armor as Stormbreaker and Zapper Talent activated.
These two talents were actually quite similar... The Stormbreaker had a passive effect that created arcs of lightning at a 10% chance on each attack.
On the other hand, the Zapper Talent had a 15% chance to inflict Shock!
Of course, they also have a guaranteed chance if they use the active skill that came with their talent. That would be Tempest Crash and Arc Discharge!
"Clench your teeth...." Shane said as he struck his sword...
However, even if sparks danced along the bone sword and arcs of electricity snapped in the air, the enemies didn’t care!
The River Flow Clan warriors were veterans of the apocalypse. They were all at levels 45 to 55!
They weren’t afraid to face him...
"Kill him! He’s just one man!"
Shane smirked. "One man is enough."
He vanished as he used his new Shadow Step Lv5.
In an instant, he blinked through the shadows, reappearing behind the first warrior. His sword cleaved downward...
This wasn’t just a simple attack... After all, there was venom coating the blade from his Venom Infusion Lv5. The strike split armor, flesh, and bone!
Even poison started seeping into the wound as lightning surged, stunning the man before he collapsed.
Another warrior charged with a spear that was glowing blue.
Shane turned a little with his Bio‑Armor absorbing the impact, then countered with a sweeping slash. The cutting aura extended beyond the blade, slicing two enemies at once.
Sparks erupted since the Zap On was triggered, shocking them, slowing their movements.
"Tempest Crash..."
Storm energy exploded outward, and a burst of lightning suddenly covered the battlefield. Fifteen meters around him lit up like a thunderstorm, frying River Flow warriors and forcing them back.
Several of them screamed as their defenses had weakened... Even the chains they used to bind the creatures started snapping due to the shock!
The ragged survivors gasped. "He’s... helping us?"
Shane didn’t answer. His focus was on the enemies...
Another squad of River Flow fighters tried to flank him, with various buffs glowing around their bodies. Shane’s aura burst!
This time, he triggered Aura Suppression Lv5.
Their enhancements weakened instantly, and their speed and strength dropped.
Without waiting for them to break away, Shane’s sword carved through them mercilessly!
One warrior tried to rally. "We’re River Flow! We won’t—"
Shane’s blade silenced him with venom and lightning tearing through his chest.
"Aaacckk! Curse you! You’ll regret this!"
The battlefield was chaos now.
Soon, more wolves broke free of their bindings, roaring as they returned to their masters.
The massive bear also rose again with chains, shattering after their casters were killed!
As for the Lizard-Beast, it even rejoined the fight!
The members of the River Flow Clan felt frustrated... After all, most of their attacks were bouncing off! Shane’s Aura Sentinel and his Bio-Armor were simply tough to crack!
"Shit! This guy’s crazy!"
"He’s hiding his identity so he’s not scared of the Overlord Clan!"
"If you’re really brave, show us your face! Tell us your name!"
"That’s right! Identify yourself! Are you scared?!"
