Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 104: Real family
Chapter 104: Real family
Elena forced a smile as she looked at Emma.
"Emma’s here. Where’s your mom?"
Then, Cecilia walked in with a smile.
"I’m right here."
Cecilia noticed Elena had been crying and then looked gently at Emma.
"Emma, didn’t you want to come to Great Grandma’s house to catch butterflies? How about letting Great Grandpa take you to catch them now?"
Emma nodded happily. James understood what Cecilia meant, so he took Emma’s little hand to bring her away.
"Let’s go! We’ll catch some butterflies!"
Once they were far away, Cecilia poured Elena a glass of water and asked with concern, "Aunt Elena, did the talk with them not go well?"
Elena nodded, her brow filled with worry. freēwēbnovel.com
"Mary told Grayson and Jaxon that she had been kicked out and won’t let it go. She even said she wants to sever ties with me..."
"How did she turn out like this?"
Cecilia gently hugged Elena. She knew how much affection she had for Mary—this time, she was truly heartbroken.
Elena couldn’t help but cry again as she looked at the photo of her with Mary in her hand, her eyes full of sorrow.
Suddenly, the sound of high heels clicking echoed in the building. Then, Mary stormed into the living room while staring at Cecilia with resentment.
"It’s you again! Will you only be satisfied when you completely destroy my relationship with Aunt Elena?"
"Alright! Now you’ve got your wish. Aunt and Uncle are about to sever ties with me!"
Elena wiped away her tears and stepped forward to stop Mary.
"This has nothing to do with Cecilia..."
Mary interrupted Elena, raising her voice.
"How can it have nothing to do with her?! All of this happened after she appeared. This is all her conspiracy! You’re blinded by her, so you side with her at every turn!"
Cecilia didn’t want to argue with her. If it weren’t for Elena feeling so hurt, she would have retorted long ago.
"Aunt Elena has treated you well all these years; you should know that better than I do. It’s fine if you have no respect for me, but you cannot disrespect her!"
Mary sneered, "Don’t pretend to be kind here, okay?! Without you, how could there be any discord between us to begin with?!"
She then glanced at Elena and said, "Moreover, I was just a foster child in your house. You never even considered me your successor, right? You treated me well, but you were always on guard against me and never gave me real power. It’s clear you only wanted to use me to care for you in your old age!"
Cecilia frowned. Mary inherently lacked gratitude; there was no use in speaking to her more.
Elena’s tears flowed again. She held up the photo in her hand in front of Mary.
"Mary, you really have wronged us..."
"We didn’t give you any power initially because we were worried you would suffer from career anxiety. Later on, when the business wasn’t doing well, we didn’t want other people to scam you..."
Mary showed an impatient expression as she raised her hand, letting the photo fall to the ground.
"Enough with your fake noble words! Scam me? Only you would be the one who would scam me!"
"You didn’t want to invest in the Foster family’s cosmetics, right? Fine, I won’t waste such a great opportunity on you. Don’t blame me for giving it to my real family!"
"My dad and Jaxon have already raised enough money. We’re investing in it by ourselves. Once we make a fortune, don’t beg me to come back!"
Elena was startled.
"Where did you find the money to invest?"
Mary crossed her arms, looking smug.
"Mona introduced me to someone who can provide large loans. I mortgaged the properties under me and my dad and secured thirty million!"
"In critical times, friends are far more reliable than so-called family!"
Elena couldn’t help but worry. Business people were most afraid of obscure money sources. It might be easy to get the money, but it would be hard to repay it!
Cecilia clearly understood this as well; it seemed like someone was setting up a trap for her, but she was oblivious to it.
From this point of view, her severing ties with Elena was actually a good thing. At least if something did happen later, Elena wouldn’t be implicated.
As for Mary and her family, if they wished to destroy themselves, let them proceed however they want.
As she was thinking, Emma’s joyful voice came over.
"Mom, shall we leave? Daddy’s business banquet is starting soon!"
Elena was taken aback.
‘Daddy?’
