Gigolo Diaries-Chapter 8: Dao Sister
"Boss, I didn’t know you had such a relationship with the lady."
Eros’s eye twitched for a moment as he tried explaining the misunderstanding.
"No need to hide it. You have clearly won her heart. Don’t worry I’ll take your secret to the grave. But you’ll have to teach me how to pick up girls."
In the end, Eros gave up trying to explain; he doubted there was any explanation he could give that would fully deter suspicions. He chuckled at Liam’s request and lied through his teeth, promising to teach him next time they met.
Not wanting to spend any more time here, Eros urged him, and the two quickly began their journey back.
Along the way, Liam kept blabbing about his hometown and how he wasn’t used to the environment just yet.
Eros replied with the occasional "yeah" and "oh, I see," but his mind wasn’t really on the conversation. His gaze was on the giant book sitting on his lap. Astoria had given it to him with the hope that he would gain a basic understanding of it in a month.
Eros, however, had other plans; when it came to nexus arts, one usually needed to get a basic understanding before they would enter the preliminary stage.
After the preliminary stage, one would begin truly cultivating the art. This point was said to be stage one—although different techniques had different names for their stages. The dragon blood art had a total of five stages, and Eros’ plan was to complete the first stage in the coming month.
This seemed like an absurd goal as most people were stuck at the preliminary stage for years, but he believed that with the tribulation acting as a furnace, he could achieve it.
Not long into the ride, the carriage came to a halt, bringing Eros back to reality.
"And that’s how my dead grandmother’s corpse fell in love with me," Liam said, concluding a major part of his back story.
As much as Eros wanted to figure out why his dead grandma’s corpse fell in love with him, he had a feeling he was better off not knowing, so he kept his curiosity to himself.
After getting out of the carriage, Liam waved at him. "Boss, you gotta make time to teach me. I’ve been a virgin for too long."
"That’s too much information," Eros muttered to himself as he watched the carriage disappear into the distance.
This Liam, he was definitely a character, a very eccentric one.
He shook his head, pushing the encounter to the back of his mind. He had to break the news to the old man then begin his preparations.
Before he went into the house, he noticed the mail box was open and there was a red letter with green stars inside.
Eros’s legs vibrated silently and his breath grew heavier by the second: while such a letter wouldn’t elicit much of a reaction from the average person. To him, it meant something entirely different.
He stepped closer and pulled it out of the box.
A wave of nostalgia washed over him as he stared at the packaging. There was an address on it directed to his residence, and with a deep breath, he broke the seal, retrieving the letter.
There was only one person he had seen using this design on her letters and seeing it again made Eros quite surprised.
It was a handwritten one and the handwriting was all too familiar.
It read:
Dear Eros, Although you may not remember me I remember you as if we parted yesterday.
The news of the destruction of the Yin and Yang sect got to me and I was so glad to hear that you survived. I have been under the holy knight’s command serving in another country so I couldn’t get a chance to see you.
I was recently reassigned to an operation in the Glygen Forest and when I was told you lived nearby, I couldn’t miss the chance.
Unfortunately, I can’t leave the command area. But I’ve been able to get a warranty to let you join in on our two-week-long expedition into the forest. I know this may be too much and your schedule is tight.
But if you want to see your senior sister again then meet me at the Flexis Border, tomorrow at dawn.
Your Dao Sister, Elina. (I hope you’re less of a pervert now.)
___________
Back in the Yin and Yang sect, he, Elina and a few others had been inseparable even though they were from different factions within the sect. Elina had been a member of the temple of fire and ice while he had been under the temple of duality.
He had lost contact with all of them and seeing Elina now try to reach him, he felt something he had buried, surface in his heart.
Even though he hardly showed it, the Yin and Yang sect was his family. And after losing that family, he had never been the same. There was no way he would miss this.
He quickly shoved the letter into his robe and entered the house with long strides.
"Kid, what’s with that big grin on your face, you fucked the empress?"
Eros ignored his comment and was about to drop the news to him when he noticed that the old man was knitting.
"What are you doing," Eros asked in concern. Old man Kodu would never do something so mundane.
"Oh this, I finally decided to take the granny next door’s advice. It’s really calming. Now that I’m growing so old I guess I should be trying this type of stuff even more."
Eros immediately pulled out a hidden dagger as his gaze sharpened.
"Who are you and where’s the old man?" The old man he knew would never admit he was growing old.
A laughter then came from the other rooms as another Kodu, wheeled himself into the living area. "Chill boy, it’s just a doppelganger talisman I’ve been trying to create."
That same instant, the Kodu in the middle of the room warped into a piece of paper that soon turned to dust.
Eros’ mouth stood agape as he stared at Kodu who had a proud look on his face.
"You created that?" He muttered under his breath.
The old man smiled, "What? You think God did?"
"No, no. It’s just..."
"I’m amazing, aren’t I?"
Eros had to admit that he was indeed a genius, he had invented an entirely new type of talisman after all. But there was no way he was going to hype up this old pervert so he just shrugged.
The old man saw through his act and scoffed, before dropping the matter.
"What’s all the jolly about? You look like you got some news, kid. Spill it." Old man Kodu said after a short silence.
