Gigolo Diaries-Chapter 14: Sein Vs Eros
Eros, who didn’t realise how much that simple action angered his opponent, sharpened his eyes as he circulated the dragon blood technique. While this didn’t have a significant effect on his physical condition, it did make his blood boil.
There was a palpable silence as they stared into each other’s eyes, no one making the first move.
"If you guys keep staring at each other like that then I fear you might end up kissing." A short holy knight said with a laugh. He was with the others around the campfire, and they were all watching the show.
Neither Sein nor Eros paid him any heed as their eyes never left their opponents.
’Ten seconds, uhh. Shouldn’t be too hard.’ Immediately the thought surfaced in Eros’ mind, Sein vanished from where he was standing as his body moved in a silent blur.
Eros’s eyes struggled to keep up with him as Sein’s afterimage kept flickering about in some strange sort of leg movements. Eros cursed under his breath and raised his sword to parry the strike.
Sein sent out a double strike with both blades, he was a bit surprised to see that Eros could react quickly enough to the strike.
However, reacting wasn’t going to save him. Seeing he was about to hit, Sein hesitated; there was no way a commoner’s sword would survive a strike from his runed blade. If he were to cut through then Eros was as good as dead.
There was no time to think as the strike was going to land in the next second.
In the end, he snickered and went ahead with the strike, after all, it wasn’t his fault if his opponent died due to arrogance. Elaine wouldn’t do anything to him other than report to the capital.
The strike hit, and Sein’s eyes widened when the feeling of cutting metal that he had expected never came. His blades bounced back, almost flying out of his grip. He hadn’t even cut through the sheath.
The strike was powerful nevertheless, and the sheer force hurled Eros a few meters away.
Still, all that effort had gotten him was a flowing line of blood dripping from the corners of Eros’ grin as his feet stood firmly on the ground.
Warm crimson flowed up Eros’ throat but he swallowed it, not wanting to show any sign of weakness.
He wasn’t given a single moment to breathe. Sein had started moving, this time planning to strike with more force than he originally planned to use.
After watching his movements, Eros parried once again, but this time his opponent had attacked from two different angles.
This wasn’t enough to beat Eros though. He leaned in towards the left, causing the strike on the left to hit first.
Utilising the force from the strike, he pushed himself backwards, narrowly escaping the second blade. It still grazed him, leaving a line of blood on his shoulders.
"Six," he muttered inaudibly.
Sein grunted in annoyance and attacked once more; he hadn’t expected his opponent to be this tough, but either way, he was still going to win.
He moved forward and his blades were a blur. His goal was to make the strike impossible to defend. But one thing he had failed to realise was that Eros could do more than defend.
As a body refiner, there were only a few nexus arts he could have successfully studied and only one he could use in actual combat.
The nexus dualism art was the staple technique of the yin and yang sect, and the intricacies of the technique were quite simple. It focused on the usage of both yin and yang forces in combat. Yin was a stable, calm and elastic force, he had been using it all this while to defend against Sein’s attacks.
Yang on the other hand was explosive and caused immense strain on his body—at his current stage, he could only use the Yang force once. That was why he had baited Sein into thinking he was only going to parry, he couldn’t afford to miss this chance.
If yang forces exploded at any part of the body, that body part would gain immense power. Hands would move like lightning. Feet would strike like thunder.
Just as this final showdown was about to happen. Elaine exited her tent, drawn by the chaos that had caught her attention.
She was shocked to find two people fighting. When she noticed one of the participants was Eros she winced inwardly and immediately moved to stop the battle.
She wasn’t fast enough, though, and the final strike would happen before she got there. While she could use sage mode to go faster, there wasn’t enough time to even enter sage mode.
She could only curse and hope Eros didn’t get hurt.
Seeing Sein’s blades move in a blur, Eros didn’t panic. He circulated the yin nexus in him and used the elastic attribute to defend against a single sword. The second one came down in that same instant, and there was no way to block it. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He winced and braced himself, shifting to the side to minimise damage. The blade cut, leaving a deep wound on his shoulder as blood gushed out in a torrent.
The force from the attack was just about to send him flying, when he smirked. He exploded yang in his legs, and the ground beneath his feet shattered sending out a wave of energy. The force pushed him forward at a speed nearing the sound barrier. In an instant, he stood mere inches from Sein.
Sein’s pupils shrank to a slit.
But Eros wasn’t done yet; he once again, exploded yang in his hand as he sent out a slash.
Waves of pain reverberated throughout his body as the exertion on him became too much.
The strike, however, was definitely worth it. The blade cut through the air with a deadly kind of speed that awakeners, let alone body refiners, shouldn’t have.
Sein hadn’t expected his opponent to fight back. His nexus barrier wasn’t even up. The only thing standing in the way of Eros’ blade was his skin and that couldn’t protect him.
And as he watched the sheathed blade make contact with his face, there was only one thing going on through his mind, ’how could a body refiner be this powerful..."
He was yet to realise that his biggest mistake was thinking that Eros was anything normal.
The force of the strike sent him flying and when he finally hit the ground, he blacked out for a few seconds.
Eros wasn’t having it any easier as even standing was too much of a chore. Body refiners weren’t supposed to use the explosive power of yang, and doing it twice was asking for death.
His legs had lost all strength. And when he felt Elaine hug him from behind, he finally let go and slumped into her embrace.
The others around the fire hadn’t even realised the fire was dead as they all stared blankly at Sein’s body.
The short man broke the silence, "Did Sein just lose to a body refiner?"
