Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 47: Roasted Goose Mountain
Back at the castle, the Griffin was placed in a spacious Beast Cage that had been prepared in advance.
The floor was covered with a thick layer of hay, and fresh water was placed to the side.
Raylo looked at the unconscious Griffin and rubbed his chin.
"Moonlight, it’s up to you this time."
Raylo habitually glanced at Moonlight.
Moonlight tilted its head, looking at the big, unconscious creature in the net, then back at Raylo, seeming eager to try.
It hopped over to the Griffin’s head and gave its small paw a symbolic wave.
"BAP..."
A soft sound, like tapping on cotton.
The Griffin didn’t react at all, remaining unconscious.
"..."
Raylo felt a little exasperated.
It seemed this "Bang Bang Two Punches" method of physical subjugation wasn’t very effective on an unconscious target.
"Forget it."
Raylo shook his head. "Let’s save its life first."
He turned and ordered an attendant beside him, "Have Carl come over. We must keep it alive."
A living Tier Three Storm Griffin that could potentially be tamed was far more valuable than a corpse.
Carl hurried over and began treating the Griffin.
Just as Carl was tending to the Griffin’s wounds, Thor walked in from outside.
Compared to before, his posture was more upright and his gaze was sharper.
Although it was still faint, it was undoubtedly the mark of an Official Knight.
"My Lord!"
Thor knelt on one knee, his voice loud and excited.
"I have successfully activated the Seed of the Knight and advanced to an Official Knight!"
"Excellent! Thor, you truly haven’t disappointed me!"
Raylo personally stepped forward to help him up, patting his shoulder. Feeling that nascent Power, he was very pleased.
Black Stone Territory had gained another young Knight, and one with a solid foundation and immense potential at that.
"Thank you for your guidance, My Lord!"
An excited flush appeared on Thor’s face.
"You’ve earned it."
Raylo said with a smile.
"I’ve seen your hard work and talent. As the first Apprentice from the Knight Training Camp to break through to Official Knight, I will give you a reward."
He paused, his gaze shifting toward the Beast Cages. With a hint of a smile, he said, "Of the two Armored Rhinoceros cubs we captured last time, there is still one without a contracted Knight. I’ll bestow it upon you!"
Thor’s eyes widened instantly, and his breathing grew ragged.
An Armored Rhinoceros!
A Tier Three Magical Beast.
For a newly promoted Knight, this was undoubtedly the partner of his dreams!
"My Lord... this... this is too valuable!"
Thor was a bit tongue-tied, overwhelmed by the immense surprise.
Raylo smiled. "Go on. Take my writ and head to the Beast Cages to select the uncontracted Armored Rhinoceros cub. I hope to see the day you two fight side-by-side."
The next morning, the first rays of sunlight pierced through the windows of the Beast Cage, spilling onto the hay-covered floor.
Carl had been busy all night and was now carefully checking the Storm Griffin’s recovery.
After emergency treatment and an infusion of precious Potions, the powerful Tier Three Magical Beast had finally been pulled back from the brink of death.
Its heavy breathing had steadied somewhat. Though still weak, its life force had stabilized.
Suddenly, the Griffin’s eyelids twitched a few times and then snapped open.
They were a pair of eyes filled with wildness and vigilance.
It struggled to lift its head, but the movement pulled at the wound on its abdomen, causing it to let out a low, pained cry.
The unnatural twist of its wings reminded it of last night’s brutal battle and its current predicament.
It scanned the unfamiliar surroundings, full of hostility and wariness.
If not for its body being bound by the large net and its injuries being too severe, it would have likely attacked already.
Raylo stood outside the Beast Cage, an appreciative look in his eyes as he watched the Griffin. Even though it was heavily injured and trapped in a net, it still tried to raise its proud head.
This defiant posture was the very symbol of a powerful Magical Beast.
Moonlight padded along at Raylo’s feet, curiously sizing up the creature that was countless times larger than itself.
Its round eyes darted about, as if it were assessing the hardness of the Griffin’s skull.
"Carl, what’s the situation?" Raylo asked.
"My Lord, its life is no longer in danger."
Carl answered respectfully. "Its injuries are severe, especially its wings and abdomen. It will require a long period of recuperation to recover. However, it’s extremely vigilant and aggressive right now."
Raylo nodded, his gaze turning to the Griffin in the net.
The Griffin was also staring daggers at him, a threatening growl rumbling in its throat.
"Moonlight, you’re up."
Raylo called out softly.
Moonlight got the hint. It took a few quick, small steps, leaped lightly onto the railing of the Beast Cage, and then jumped again, landing precisely on an empty patch of ground next to the Griffin’s head.
This action agitated the already tense Griffin even more. Unfortunately, its body was bound and it couldn’t move, so all it could do was glare fiercely at this suicidal "little cat."
Moonlight tilted its head, as if studying the Griffin’s expression.
Then, it raised its small, fluffy front paw.
Carl and a few attendants held their breath. They knew Moonlight was extraordinary; last time, it had tamed over twenty Pegasi.
Facing a conscious Storm Griffin, a beast renowned for its ferocity, they wondered if a miracle could happen again.
"BONK!"
With a light thud, Moonlight’s small paw tapped the Griffin on the forehead.
The Storm Griffin’s reaction, however, was completely different.
It snapped its head up and let out an enraged roar!
Although the sound wasn’t loud due to its weakness, the pride from the depths of its soul and the fury of being provoked by an "ant" were crystal clear.
A blazing fire burned in its eyes as it stared daggers at Moonlight, as if it wanted to swallow it whole.
"..."
Raylo rubbed his chin.
’It seems this move isn’t very effective on a conscious and proud creature.’
’Is a Tier Three Magical Beast beyond Moonlight’s ability to tame?’
Moonlight also seemed to freeze for a moment, not expecting this "big guy" to be so disrespectful.
It tilted its head, then raised its paw again.
"BONK!"
This time, with more force.
"ROAR!"
The Storm Griffin was thoroughly enraged.
It began to struggle violently, the large net creaking under the strain as several of its wounds started bleeding again.
It shrieked madly at Moonlight, its voice sharp and piercing, filled with savagery.
A flash of displeasure crossed Moonlight’s pale gold eyes.
As a noble Silver Dragon, even in its disguised form, being provoked like this by a mere Griffin was very irritating.
Watching the scene unfold, Raylo thought to himself, ’Looks like Moonlight’s physical subjugation method has hit a bottleneck.’
Moonlight seemed to have lost its patience.
It turned its head to look at Raylo, let out a soft "meow," and waved its little paw at him.
Raylo paused for a moment, then understood what Moonlight meant.
’Looks like this little guy is about to get serious, and it doesn’t want an audience.’
"Carl, all of you, leave for now."
Raylo ordered.
Carl didn’t dare say another word and quickly exited the Beast Cage with the attendants.
Seeing that Raylo had no intention of leaving,
Moonlight impatiently turned its head and let out a little "mrrowl."
Raylo left grumpily.
When Raylo and the others re-entered, they saw Moonlight flicking its tail and licking its paws, as if nothing had happened.
It walked with elegant steps over to the Storm Griffin, which had completely lost its will to resist, and symbolically patted its head with a paw.
This time, the Griffin didn’t resist at all. Instead, it obediently lowered its proud head and let out a placating murmur.
"Mrow..."
Moonlight let out a satisfied cry.
’It worked!’
"Carl!" Raylo called out.
Carl hurried back in and saw the scene before him, his mouth agape in astonishment.
’The Storm Griffin was so ferocious just a few minutes ago, but now... it’s so docile?’
"Keep a close eye on it for the next two days and heal it completely."
Raylo bent down, picked up Moonlight, and rubbed its little head. "You worked hard this time."
Moonlight narrowed its eyes comfortably, a purring sound rumbling in its throat. It nuzzled its head against Raylo’s palm, then held out both its paws.
"Ten roasted geese?"
Raylo scratched its forehead.
"I’ll build you a Roasted Goose Mountain."
