Chapter 243: Chapter 237: The Dragon Arrives at Eagle’s Nest Castle

Aiden Duke couldn’t help but laugh, instantly filling the study with a cheerful atmosphere.

"That Raylo boy getting an untamable Giant Dragon to accept a title... it’s not as simple as just being lucky."

His laughter subsided.

"Did he and that Golden Dragon sign a Knight Contract?"

This was the heart of the matter.

A Giant Dragon willing to obey commands is one thing. A Giant Dragon bound to a Knight through a contract, sharing both life and Power, is something else entirely.

"My Duke, our intelligence shows no contractual bond between them. It seems the Golden Dragon... accepted the title ’Sun Knight’ as a partner."

"Furthermore, Count Raylo has also established a new Sun Knight Order in his territory, appointing this Golden Dragon as its commander."

"A partner..."

Aiden Duke repeated the word softly, a trace of regret flashing in his eyes.

"Ultimately, it falls just short. A Giant Dragon unbound by a contract is forever an unpredictable variable. A true Dragon Knight... now that would be a decisive force, one capable of changing the course of a war and protecting the Duchy."

He fell silent for a moment, seemingly lost in thought, before finally waving his hand.

"Understood. Is there anything else?"

"Lady Anna is packing her bags. The official story is that she is going to Amber Territory to visit her daughter, Viscount Lillian."

At the mention of this name, Aiden Duke’s gaze softened slightly.

He didn’t speak, merely turning to look out the window.

Outside was the magnificent silhouette of Thunder Dragon City, the legacy he had protected his entire life.

As a mother, it was only natural for Anna to want to be closer to her child.

Aiden Duke did not state his position, but his silence was a form of tacit approval.

Ramon understood perfectly. He bowed silently, his figure once again melting into the shadows and disappearing.

...

Meanwhile, on the other side of Thunder Dragon City, the atmosphere in the residence of His Highness Prince Elliot was like a volcano on the verge of erupting.

A Knight knelt on the magnificent, expensive carpet. His back was covered in shocking lash marks, and blood soaked through his clothes, yet he clenched his jaw tightly, not daring to make a sound.

"Useless! A bunch of useless trash!"

His Highness Prince Elliot slammed the blood-stained whip in his hand onto the floor. His handsome face was twisted by extreme rage, all traces of his carefully maintained noble demeanor gone.

"I sent you to monitor a remote territory! And what do you bring me back? News that a whore’s son has earned the allegiance of a Golden Dragon?"

His voice grew hoarse with agitation, his chest heaving violently.

"Tell me, how did he deserve it?! How!"

He swept a Magic Crystal Cup to the floor, where it shattered to pieces.

"If my father the Duke finds out about this, what will he think?"

Elliot paced back and forth in the room, his eyes filled with panic and jealousy.

"He’ll think that I, the heir to the Duchy, am less capable than some mud-legged peasant exiled to the frontier! He’ll pour more resources, more attention, onto that bastard!"

The Knight on the floor trembled, lowering his head even further.

Elliot stopped abruptly, kicking the Knight in the shoulder and sending him sprawling to the ground.

"Get out! Take your incompetence and disappear from my sight!"

As if granted a pardon, the Knight scrambled out of the room, leaving a humiliating trail of blood behind him.

"Steward!"

Elliot roared at the doorway.

An old, white-haired steward immediately trotted in, his body bowed, not daring to look his master in the eyes.

"Your Highness, what are your orders?"

"Immediately! Right now! Prepare the highest-level magical message for me!"

Elliot’s eyes were bloodshot, like a cornered beast.

"I’m writing a letter to the Saint Violet Empire!" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

His voice suddenly dropped, yet it carried an even more sinister tone, as if every word was being squeezed from between his teeth.

"Tell my uncle, Angmar Duke! Tell him that Raylo Rost, that whore’s son, has become a serious threat to my inheritance of the Thunder Dragon Duchy!"

The old steward shuddered.

"Tell Angmar Duke he must, he absolutely must!"

Elliot stressed his words, holding up two fingers as a mad light glinted in his eyes.

"Send two Tier Five, Domain Level powers here! A Domain Knight or an Angel of Death—I want an overwhelming advantage to make that bastard die in a shithole in Black Stone Territory!"

"Tell him if he doesn’t act now, the Aidan Family’s next Duke is going to be someone else!"

"Yes... Yes! Your Highness!"

The old steward’s face was drained of all color. He stammered his assent, then turned and staggered out of the room.

In the room, Elliot stood amidst the wreckage. The firelight from the hearth cast his shadow on the wall—distorted, elongated, like a monstrous phantom.

He would not sit back and wait for death.

Watching the steward’s retreating back, Elliot slowly walked to the window. He gazed in the direction of the Duke’s Castle, his eyes as cold and sinister as a snake’s.

’Raylo... do you think having one dragon means you can do whatever you want?’

’I’ll show you that in this world, bloodline and influence are far more important than your pathetic bit of luck.’

’Just wait. Your death... is not far off.’

...

The Storm Griffin King spread its tawny Iron Feathers, shooting through the sky like an arrow released from a bow.

Aboard Baofeng’s broad back, Raylo’s expression was grim.

To his flank, Sun flew alongside, its golden draconic body shimmering dazzlingly in the sunlight.

Eagle’s Nest Castle, a fortress built atop a perilous mountain peak, soon came into view.

It resembled a crouching beast, its grayish-black stone structure blending into the mountainside, exuding a rough and forbidding aura.

"Lord, they’ve spotted us,"

a Griffin Knight said in a low voice.

Before his voice had even faded, six giant crossbow cannons, gleaming with a cold metallic light, were slowly rolled out onto the towers and walls of Eagle’s Nest Castle. Their menacing bolts locked onto the uninvited guests in the sky from afar.

Raylo’s gaze swept over the Giant Crossbows without lingering, turning instead to the Golden Dragon at his side.

"Sun, are those things a threat to you?"

Sun let out a derisive snort, the sound somewhat muffled by the wind.

"With just that scrap metal? Lord, back when I was a Judge in those human territories, their lords’ Giant Crossbows and great cannons couldn’t even leave a white mark on my scales."

It raised its head arrogantly, its golden eyes filled with the pride of a Giant Dragon.

"The Golden Dragon clan is known as the most defensive of all Giant Dragons, and that’s not an empty boast. If a few crossbow cannons could make me retreat, I would have been dismantled for parts by those with ill intentions long ago."

Raylo nodded and said no more.

Sun had dared to single-handedly fight a Black Dragon commanding a Magical Beast Legion of over ten thousand. Although it ultimately escaped with heavy injuries, it was still a testament to its formidable combat strength.

Any other Giant Dragon or Magical Beast would not have even had the chance to escape.
