Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 207 - 201: Baofeng’s Giant Beast Armor
Dressed in a knight’s attire, Raylo followed the messenger out of his tent.
The sunlight chased away the last vestiges of his hangover. The clamor of the previous night had faded from the camp.
The command tent was situated in the very heart of the camp. Outside, two squads of elite guards from the Thunder Dragon Knight Order stood at attention, their auras heavy and their gazes fixed forward.
Upon seeing Raylo, the Guard Captain stepped forward and lifted the heavy tent flap for him.
A massive sand table, meticulously marked with the terrain of the Wind Cry Plain, dominated the center of the tent.
Luke was standing before the sand table.
On the other side of the tent, over a dozen seats were arranged in a semicircle, most of them already occupied.
Raylo’s entrance immediately drew everyone’s attention.
"Haha, the Raylo kid is here!"
a gruff voice boomed.
The speaker was Barton, the Count of Giant Stone, a man as burly as a brown bear.
His custom-made armor strained against his bulging muscles. It was clear that his defeat in the Fighting General’s duel hadn’t broken his spirit.
The other Lords, whether they knew Raylo previously or not, all nodded to him in a friendly manner.
In the army, the strong are most respected.
First, Raylo had become famous in a single battle by single-handedly fighting the "Angel of Death."
Then, he had captured the Kingdom’s Crown Prince, Karachi, alive. This achievement alone was enough to earn the heartfelt admiration of any Lord present who made his living by the sword.
Raylo returned their goodwill and walked to his designated seat.
His seat was placed just below those of Luke and the three Counts—Barton, Gao Wen, and Raymond—a clear reflection of his status.
"Everyone is here."
Luke turned around.
The tent fell silent instantly.
"Everyone, our battle on the Wind Cry Plain was a complete victory,"
Luke said.
"In the past two days, the Quartermaster has finished taking inventory of the spoils of war."
A gleam of anticipation appeared in the eyes of every Lord present.
This was what they cared about most.
Luke didn’t keep them in suspense. He took a thick list from his adjutant and held it up.
"The overall distribution plan will be handed out to each of you shortly. I guarantee that no one will leave empty-handed this time."
He paused, his gaze falling upon Raylo, Barton, and Raymond.
"However, before the general distribution, there are three individuals who must be rewarded first."
Luke’s voice rang out.
"According to the agreement made before the battle, any who participated in the Fighting General duels, regardless of victory or defeat, have the right to choose one item first from the most valuable spoils. The victor may choose two."
All eyes converged on them, filled with a hint of envy.
Luke gave a signal, and a Quartermaster immediately came forward carrying a box made of white birch wood, which he opened with great care.
When the box was opened, it did not contain physical items, but rather a list rolled into a scroll, made from high-quality beast hide.
Luke gestured.
"All Magic Items and materials of Tier Four and above are on this list. Baron Raylo, if you please."
Raylo reached out, took the list, and slowly unrolled it.
On the fine-textured hide, alluring names were written line by line in elegant Common Tongue, each followed by a concise and precise description of its function.
[Heart of the Storm]: The core of a Tier Four Wind Element Magical Beast. Contains the rampaging Hurricane Power and can be used for Enchantments or to power large Alchemy Puppets.
[Flame Dragon Breath Potion (3 doses)]: After drinking, one can spew Blazing Flame akin to Dragon Breath, with power comparable to Tier Four Magic.
[Shadow Walker Cloak]: A piece of Tier Three Magic Equipment. Allows the wearer to blend significantly into shadows, a treasure for assassins and scouts.
Raylo’s eyes scanned the list line by line, his mind racing with calculations.
Every item on the list was exceptional, enough to make any Lord’s heart pound with desire.
Raylo accepted the list, and as his eyes swept over it, his heart skipped a beat.
Luke’s voice rang out again.
"Raylo, you won one duel, so you may choose two items first."
Raylo didn’t hesitate for long.
He first pointed to an item on the list.
"I choose the [Azure Sky Armor]."
[Azure Sky Armor]: Alchemy Battle Armor designed for flying giant beasts. Forged from Meteor Iron mixed with Wind Magic Crystals. It consists of thirty-six armor plates that can cover a mount’s vital areas, such as the chest, abdomen, and neck. The "Light Body Technique" and "Wind Guardian" runes inscribed upon it can greatly enhance a flying mount’s defense without affecting its speed.
This choice was within everyone’s expectations.
Raylo was famous as a Storm Griffin Knight, and the Tier Four Storm Griffin King, Baofeng, was his most powerful combat partner.
A set of Alchemy Battle Armor that could allow a Tier Four Magical Beast to fight above its tier was of immeasurable value, directly raising Raylo’s combat prowess by a whole level.
The Quartermaster immediately stepped forward and carefully lifted the set of armor, which shimmered with a faint cyan light, from a chest.
The armor plates were streamlined, their surfaces as smooth as a mirror. The runes engraved on them were as fine and dense as feathers, and together they exuded an aura of both lightness and solidity.
Just by looking at it, one could feel the immense power it contained.
"A keen eye."
Luke nodded in approval.
Then, Raylo’s finger landed on the second item.
"For my second item, I choose the [Heart of Water Moon]."
[Heart of Water Moon]: A Tier Five defensive artifact. A palm-sized Heart-Protecting Mirror made from a fusion of Moonlight Stone Essence and a Space Crystal Stone. It contains a solidified Law of Space within. When the wearer faces a fatal attack, it will automatically activate, deflecting the attack (up to Tier Six) into an unknown dimension. Can be used once per day.
This choice made both Barton and Raymond pause in surprise.
In their opinion, while the effect of the Heart of Water Moon was astonishing, the "once per day" limitation made it somewhat impractical.
Barton couldn’t help but speak up.
"Raylo, kid, you sure you don’t want to reconsider? I see plenty of other good stuff on this list!"
Raylo smiled faintly and shook his head.
He knew better than anyone that as he grew stronger, the enemies he would face in the future would only become more powerful.
Tier Five Domain Knights, or even more terrifying existences, could become his opponents.
In battles of that caliber, having an extra trump card to save his life meant having another chance to turn defeat into victory.
He had many ways to attack, but a chance to save his life was priceless.
"Very well."
Luke waved his hand.
The Quartermaster handed a deep blue, palm-sized Heart-Protecting Mirror that looked rather unremarkable to Raylo.
The surface of the mirror was cold to the touch, as if he were holding a piece of ice from the starry midnight sky.
A faint trace of Magic Power flowed within it, faintly resonating with the Fighting Spirit inside Raylo’s body.
Next, it was Raymond and Barton’s turn.
"You two, as per the agreement, you may each choose one item. Who wants to go first?"
Luke said, looking at them.
"My choice shouldn’t conflict with Count Barton’s, so let him choose first,"
Count Raymond said.
It was apparent that Count Raymond knew his old rival from the Northern Territory well.
Barton was overjoyed. He slapped his thigh with a hand as large as a cattail fan, stood up, and pointed unceremoniously at the battle hammer.
"Lord Luke, I’ll take this [Mountain Warhammer]!"
[Mountain Warhammer]: A battle hammer from ancient times. The head is carved from a single block of volcanic obsidian and seals a wisp of the earth’s fury within. When swung, it is immensely powerful and heavy, causing a small-scale shockwave upon impact. It has devastating killing power against city walls and heavy armor units.
The Quartermaster had to exert considerable effort to carry the enormous battle hammer into the tent.
The moment the hammer touched the ground, a heavy, violent aura spread out, making the surrounding air feel somewhat stagnant.
Barton strode forward and snatched the battle hammer up in one hand.
The heavy weapon seemed as light as a feather in his hands. He swung it twice in satisfaction, creating a dull, whistling sound.
"Excellent! What a beast! With this, the next time I run into those tin cans from the Fiery Sun Kingdom, I’ll smash ’em one by one! Turn ’em into iron pancakes!"
Barton’s face was flushed with excitement, and he couldn’t put his new weapon down.
The Lords in the tent broke into good-natured laughter.
"I will take this [Oath of Rock]!"
[Oath of Rock]: A Tier Four Enchanted Shield. The body of the shield is the shell of an adult Mountain Dragon Turtle, with the edges reinforced with Hundred-Refined Fine Gold. The face is inscribed with earth runes, which greatly enhance the wielder’s defense and impact resistance. It also provides the "Power of the Earth" effect: when the wielder’s feet are on the ground, their strength and endurance receive a small boost. This shield can briefly withstand a direct attack of Domain Level Power.
Raymond made his choice.
Soon, the wooden chest containing the [Oath of Rock] was carried in.
Count Iron Pine, Raymond, walked to the chest and solemnly lifted the shield.
The shield was extremely heavy in his hands, but a power as steady as the earth itself flowed up his arm, invigorating him.
Count Raymond caressed the ancient runes on the shield, his eyes filled with satisfaction.
"With this shield, my subordinate, Rodney, will be a true ’Barrier’."
The priority selection round was over, but this was merely the appetizer.
Luke spread another, much longer and thicker, list out on the sand table and cleared his throat. The gazes of all the Lords in the tent once again burned with scorching intensity.
"Alright, everyone. Now for the main course."
