Chapter 204: Chapter 198: Returning a Favor

On the battlefield below.

Luke’s gaze locked onto "Radiant Blade" Kade once more.

Slaying a Knight of the same tier seemed to have cost him nothing.

"It’s your turn."

He spoke three words. With a flick of his Long Sword, he transformed back into a streak of blood-red light and charged at Kade.

A chill ran through Kade’s heart.

He looked at the man before him, a veritable Slaying Deity. He glanced at his own army, which had completely collapsed and was being ravaged by the Giant Beasts and cavalry. Finally, his eyes fell upon the nearby Prince of Karachi, whose face was ashen.

He knew the battle was lost.

CLANG!

Kade barely managed to block Luke’s powerful, heavy blow. The web of his thumb went numb, and the force of the impact sent him stumbling backward.

Luke’s attacks had no flair, only the purest, most extreme killing intent and Power.

Each slash was so fast it nearly left him breathless.

’If this keeps up, I’ll likely share Aston’s fate.’

Kade hesitated no longer. He unleashed a dazzling flash of sword light, forcing Luke back half a step. Using the momentum, he retreated explosively, appearing by Karachi’s side in a few flashes.

"His Highness Prince, go! We’ve lost!"

Karachi was already frightened out of his wits. Hearing Kade’s words was like being granted amnesty, and he scrambled and crawled toward his mount, a Fiery Sun Golden Eagle, nearby.

"Quick! Let’s go!" he urged incoherently.

Kade shoved him onto the eagle’s back and vaulted onto his own flying mount.

A dozen or so Personal Guard Knights also mounted their Pegasus, forming a protective circle around the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle.

"Luke! Thunder Dragon Kingdom! My father will not let you get away with this!"

Karachi roared from the sky, but his voice was full of bluster, hollow with weakness.

They abandoned the tens of thousands of soldiers being slaughtered below and fled toward the southern sky without a second glance.

"Trying to run?"

Luke looked up, a bloody glint flashing in his eyes.

He let out a sharp whistle.

SCREECH!

A piercing cry echoed from the clouds as a Giant Eagle wreathed in blue lightning dove down, hovering steadily beside Luke.

It was his mount, the Thunder Eagle.

Luke vaulted onto the eagle’s back and shouted to Raylo, who was still wreaking havoc in the sky.

"Raylo! Forget those small fry! Follow me and capture Karachi alive!"

"Roger that!"

Raylo cut down the last enemy who tried to resist and immediately changed direction.

"Storm Griffin Knights, with me! The rest of you, continue cleaning up the battlefield!" he commanded loudly.

Baofeng let out an excited cry. With a powerful beat of its wings, it carried Raylo away in a streak of light, closely following Luke.

Behind them, the Storm Griffin Knights stopped mopping up the remaining enemies and quickly regrouped, giving chase hot on the heels of the fleeing Prince of Karachi.

In the vast sky, the wind howled.

The ground receded rapidly below, blurring into indistinct patches of color.

The sounds of battle faded into the distance. Raylo crouched low, pressing himself against Baofeng’s broad back.

Ahead of them were the Prince of Karachi of the Fiery Sun Kingdom and his guards, fleeing in disarray.

And between Raylo and Karachi, there was an even faster streak of cyan lightning.

That was Luke and his mount, the Thunder Eagle.

The chase had already spanned more than ten kilometers, and the distance between them was slowly closing.

Only about ten of Karachi’s Personal Guard Knights remained. Their Pegasus mounts were clearly no match for the Thunder Eagle and Storm Griffins in terms of either stamina or speed.

Luke’s mount, the Thunder Eagle, was a Giant Eagle covered in blue, scale-like feathers. As it flapped its wings, tiny arcs of electricity would jump along the edges, making a faint CRACKLE.

Not only was it incredibly fast, but it also possessed an innate ability to control lightning.

SCREECH!

The Thunder Eagle let out another piercing cry. It suddenly accelerated, leaving a sapphire-blue afterimage in the air.

It spread its wings, and thick bolts of lightning erupted from beneath them, weaving into a massive Thunder Net in the air that descended upon "Radiant Blade" Kade, who was guarding Karachi’s flank.

Kade’s mount was a crimson Griffin, a King Level Tier Four Magical Beast, just like Baofeng.

Faced with the sudden Thunder Net, the Griffin King let out a terrified shriek and desperately tried to swerve and evade it.

But the Thunder Eagle’s attack was too fast and too sudden, giving it no chance to dodge.

"You beast, get away from me!"

Kade roared as his Long Sword erupted with brilliant Fighting Spirit, and he slashed at the net of lightning.

The sword light and the Thunder Net collided with a deafening explosion.

The blinding light bleached the sky white for a moment.

Kade was, after all, a Tier Five Domain Knight of immense strength. His slash managed to tear an opening in the Thunder Net.

His mount, however, was not so lucky. It was grazed by the volatile arcs of electricity and let out a sharp cry of pain. It convulsed, its flight instantly becoming unsteady.

Although it quickly recovered, that momentary delay was all Luke needed to catch up.

"Your opponent is me."

Luke’s voice was cold. He and his sword became one, a pure manifestation of killing intent, as he lunged at Kade.

Kade’s face was grim as he was forced to turn and block with his sword.

CLANG!

The two swords met, sending sparks flying.

High in the sky, the two Tier Five Domain Knights were instantly locked in combat.

Flashes of sword light and bloody aura crisscrossed, each collision causing the air to shudder violently.

"Raylo!"

Luke yelled back over his shoulder during a lull in the fierce battle.

"Karachi is all yours!"

The words reached Raylo’s ears, carried by the rushing wind.

Raylo gave a slight nod, understanding perfectly.

’He’s referring to when I lent him the Soul Horn to help him kill ’Blood Lion’ Aston.’

’This ’Iron Blood’ Knight is deliberately intercepting the strongest enemy, Kade, as a way of repaying the favor. He’s handing the immense credit for capturing Karachi alive to me.’

"Baofeng, let’s go!"

Raylo no longer hesitated and slapped his mount’s neck firmly.

SCREECH!

The Storm Griffin King let out an even higher, more excited cry, sensing its master’s fighting will.

Its yellowish-brown Iron Feathers stood on end, and the cyan Wind Element Magic Power around its body instantly began to roil.

With a powerful flap of its wings, its speed surged once more. Like an arrow loosed from a bow, it instantly shot past the Storm Griffin Knights behind it, bypassed the battle between Luke and Kade, and flew straight for the Prince of Karachi.

The ten Storm Griffin Knights, left in the dust by Raylo, could only watch with wry smiles as their Lord streaked away. They urged their mounts on desperately, trying to keep up.

They knew, ’In a chase of this caliber, the best we can probably do is cheer him on from behind.’

Karachi looked back and saw this, and he was scared witless.

"Faster! Go faster!"

Karachi shrieked incoherently, frantically beating the Fiery Sun Golden Eagle beneath him.

"Lose him! Or we’re all going to die!"

The Fiery Sun Golden Eagle, sensing its master’s terror, also flapped its wings with all its might.
