Chapter 184: Chapter 178: Red Ridge Flying Dragon

"BOOM!"

A deafening roar resounded, as if the entire mountain was shaking.

The solid gate was rammed so hard it caved inward. Countless cracks spiderwebbed across its surface, and the stone wall securing the hinges began to crumble.

Before the defenders could react, the second and third Mammoths charged in, one right after the other.

"BANG!"

With one last, heavy thud, the entire Black Iron Gate and the surrounding walls were utterly shattered.

The gate was breached.

"Kill!"

The Knights of Black Stone Territory and Amber Territory, long in waiting, roared as they poured into Eagle’s Sorrow Castle like a flash flood through a broken dam.

The outcome of the war was sealed in that moment.

Or perhaps, the moment the Count of the Falcon died to the Storm Steel Claw, the fall of Eagle’s Sorrow Castle had already been inevitable.

The battle that followed was more of a one-sided purge.

In less than an hour, all resistance within Eagle’s Sorrow Castle was completely wiped out.

Raylo and Lillian steered their mounts down, slowly landing in the debris-strewn plaza at the center of Eagle’s Sorrow Castle.

"Clean up the battlefield. Tally the spoils and the prisoners."

Raylo commanded, then turned to Lillian.

"Come on, let’s go find what we came for."

The two crossed the plaza and entered the main keep, the residence of the Count of the Falcon.

The keep was lavishly furnished, but now completely deserted.

The Count of the Falcon treated those eight Flying Dragon Eggs like priceless Treasure, so he must have hidden them in the most secure location.

They went straight to the Count’s bedroom. The room had been completely ransacked; clearly, some routed soldiers or servants had already paid a visit during the chaos.

Raylo scanned the surroundings, his gaze finally settling on a locked room adjacent to the bedroom.

The door was made of heavy ironwood, and was even enchanted with a Defense Array.

"This must be the place."

Lillian stepped forward and pressed her fair palm against the door, her Magic Power surging.

A few seconds later, the light from the Array on the door flickered a few times before fading completely.

Raylo stepped up and kicked the door open.

Their eyes widened at the sight within the room.

This wasn’t a treasury for gold and silver, but a small hatchery.

In the center of the room was a circular platform forged from some unknown metal. Beneath it, a complex Constant Temperature Array was inscribed.

Atop the platform, nestled on a thick layer of soft cloth, lay eight Flying Dragon Eggs, each about the size of a human head.

The shells were covered in natural, cloud-like patterns, and they radiated a potent life force under the magical light.

’Found them.’

Raylo stepped forward and gently stroked one of the Flying Dragon Eggs, feeling its warm, smooth texture and the vibrant life pulsating within.

Just as Raylo’s fingers touched the shell, a soft rustle came from behind him.

"Mrow?"

A silvery-white shadow leaped nimbly onto the hatchery platform. It was Moonlight.

It swished its large, fluffy tail, pale gold eyes filled with curiosity. It began to pace elegantly around the eight Flying Dragon Eggs, as if inspecting its own territory.

Then, a black shadow materialized out of thin air. Coal Ball had followed, its round body tumbling between the eggs like a curious child.

Moonlight approached one of the Flying Dragon Eggs, extended a paw with its pads out, and gave it a gentle, cautious poke.

The egg rolled half a turn and bumped into another, making a crisp CLACK sound.

Apparently finding this new toy quite interesting, Moonlight raised its paw again.

Raylo was about to cry out and stop it, but he was too late.

"PAT."

Moonlight’s paw landed gently on the shell.

"CRACK..."

An extremely faint cracking sound rang out, but it was clearly audible in the quiet hatchery.

Moonlight’s entire body went rigid, its paw still poised to strike, its pale gold eyes wide as saucers. It snatched its paw back as fast as Lightning and leaped away, letting out an innocent "Mrow," as if to say, ’It wasn’t me!’

Meanwhile, Coal Ball, ever the agent of chaos, sidled up to the cracked egg. It nudged the shell with its little head, letting out excited whimpers.

The crack, as if a signal, rapidly spread across the entire shell.

Immediately after, in a chain reaction, the other seven Flying Dragon Eggs on the platform began to tremble, and fine cracks started appearing on their shells as well.

"This is..."

Lillian covered her mouth, her eyes filled with a mixture of shock and anticipation.

"CRACKLE... CRACKLE..."

The cracking sounds rose and fell, blending into a continuous chorus.

From the egg that had cracked first, a small piece of shell was pushed away from within, revealing a tiny, wet, dark-red head.

The little creature shook its head, as if adjusting to this brand-new world. Its molten-lava eyes, filled with newborn confusion, finally locked onto Lillian, who was standing closest.

It opened its mouth and let out a cry that was both shrill and surprisingly strong, carrying a trace of scorching heat.

Lillian’s breath hitched. She could clearly feel the Fire Elements in the air leaping for joy.

Soon, another egg shattered completely. It was also a dark-red Young Dragon, though its scales were darker, like cooled volcanic rock, and flecked with patterns like flowing lava.

It seemed stronger than its sibling from the moment it was born. It stumbled to its feet, curiously sizing up the other, and then the two little ones huddled together, nuzzling each other’s heads.

Moonlight watched the two little creatures, lifting its chin proudly as if to say, ’Behold, my masterpiece.’

Coal Ball, on the other hand, tried to paw at one of the tails with its stubby legs, only to get an impatient tail flick right to its face from the little Flying Dragon.

Following that, the remaining six Flying Dragon Eggs hatched in succession.

From them emerged six Flying Dragons, their bodies a vibrant, verdant green.

Their scales resembled the finest Jade, shimmering with a faint cyan halo in the Magic light. Their bodies were more slender and streamlined than their dark-red siblings, their wing bones longer, giving them an air of graceful agility.

They looked around curiously.

In an instant, the small hatchery was filled with eight stumbling Young Dragons, buzzing with the chaotic energy of new life.

Lillian’s gaze was completely captivated by the two dark-red Flying Dragons.

She could feel the Fire Magic Power within her body resonating with them in a wondrous way.

She tentatively extended a hand. As if sensing something, the two little creatures immediately abandoned one another and scrambled toward her on wobbly legs, each trying to get there first.

They reached Lillian’s feet. One nuzzled its head against her Mage Robe, while the other opened its mouth to gently nibble on the hem, a contented purr rumbling in its throat as if begging for affection.

Lillian’s heart melted instantly. She knelt and gently stroked the tops of their heads.

The Young Dragon’s scales were warm and smooth, carrying the unique warmth of a living being. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

She could clearly feel their affection and reliance on her, a connection born from a natural affinity of their Magic Attributes.

"They’re called Red Ridge Flying Dragons."

Raylo’s voice came from her side, a smile in his eyes.

"A type of Flying Dragon with a fiery temper, capable of breathing Blazing Flame. As adults, they make for excellent aerial assault units. It seems they’ve taken quite a liking to you."
