Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 125 - 119: Conquering Crow’s Nest Valley
Raylo said no more and gently squeezed Baofeng’s sides.
The Storm Griffin King let out a piercing cry. With a mighty flap of its wings that whipped up a fierce gale, it carried Raylo and Moonlight soaring into the sky.
Following closely behind, eleven Storm Griffins also took to the air, circling high above.
"BLARE! BLARE!"
The movements of the Black Stone Army almost instantly alerted the Stone Crow Robbery Gang inside Crow’s Nest Valley.
A desolate, urgent horn blast echoed through the valley, shattering the tranquility of dusk.
"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"
"Quick! Grab your weapons!"
The valley instantly erupted into chaos.
Countless tattered, ferocious-looking robbers emerged from simple thatched huts and holes in the ground. They wielded a motley assortment of weapons—rusty cleavers, polished axes, and even sharpened wooden sticks.
From his vantage point high above, Raylo gave them a quick scan. There were about three hundred of them.
Among them, about a hundred were armored elites, likely the core members of the Stone Crow Robbery Gang.
In front of several relatively tall log cabins deep in the valley, a few figures hurried out.
The one in the lead was gaunt and wore an ill-fitting black Mage Robe. He had a hooked nose and sinister eyes. It was none other than the leader of the Stone Crow Robbery Gang, "Stone Crow."
Beside him was a brawny man built like an iron tower, a huge two-handed War Axe resting on his shoulder. It was the Vice Commander, "Iron Arm" Rogge.
Ed spurred his horse to the front of the formation, his voice booming like a great bell.
"By order of my lord! Lay down your weapons and surrender now, and your lives will be spared! Otherwise, when this valley falls, not even a chicken or dog will be left alive!"
"Pah! You want me to surrender? In your next life!"
A robber chieftain with a scar on his face spat and roared, brandishing the Curved Saber in his hand.
"Brothers, let’s fight them to the death! Kill these sons of bitches!"
The robbers were already desperados. Hearing this, they roared their approval. Organized by several chieftains, they quickly assembled inside the valley entrance, taking up defensive positions behind a crude wooden stockade and barricades.
A few Archers straggled up the low watchtowers on either side, drawing their bows and aiming at the Black Stone Knights outside the valley.
Seeing this, a cold smirk played on Raylo’s lips.
’So they won’t cry until they see the coffin, huh?’
He gently patted Baofeng’s neck. The Storm Griffin King understood and let out a deafening roar.
"Dive!"
At his command, the twelve Storm Griffins folded their wings and dove. Like twelve Meteorites falling from the sky, they shot toward the densely packed robbers below with a piercing shriek.
"Fire! Fire!"
The robber chieftain screamed himself hoarse.
Dozens of arrows flew sparsely into the sky. However, to the thick-skinned, Iron Feather-clad, and incredibly fast Storm Griffins, these feeble attacks were like trying to scratch an itch through a boot.
The Griffins nimbly twisted their bodies, easily dodging most of the arrows. The few that did strike their Iron Feathers only produced a shower of sparks before falling harmlessly away.
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"
The flock of Griffins smashed into the robbers’ defensive formation like tigers pouncing on a herd of sheep.
The massive impact sent the unprepared robbers flying, and screams of broken bones and torn sinews rose one after another.
Every swipe of their sharp claws and fangs brought a rain of blood.
The robbers’ carefully constructed defensive formation crumbled in an instant under the Griffins’ Thunderboltous Strike.
After scattering the robbers’ defensive line, Raylo steered Baofeng to lead the Storm Griffins soaring back into the sky, preparing for the next attack.
"Thor, break down the gate!"
Ed seized the opportunity and shouted sharply.
"ROAR!"
Thor let out an excited roar. The Armored Rhinoceros beneath him gave a low bellow, its hooves churning. Like a living Siege Hammer, it charged straight for the crude gate at the valley’s entrance—a simple thing made of thick, bound logs.
"THUD!"
With a tremendous crash, wood splinters flew everywhere.
The gate, struck by the Armored Rhinoceros’s thick, keratin-covered head, buckled inward and groaned under the strain.
"Again!"
The Armored Rhinoceros took a few steps back and charged forward with all its might once more.
"CRASH!"
This time, the gate could no longer hold and collapsed with a deafening roar.
"Charge!"
Ed took the lead, brandishing his Long Spear as he led the Black Stone Knights surging into Crow’s Nest Valley like a tide.
Having lost their formation and command, the robbers were scared out of their wits by the wolf-like Knights and the menacing Griffins circling overhead.
Many threw down their Weapons and knelt to beg for mercy, but the more stubborn ones continued their futile resistance.
Seeing that the situation was lost, Stone Crow’s face turned ashen.
He, along with "Iron Arm" Rogge and a dozen or so core members, fought as they retreated. They quickly occupied a raised stone platform in the valley, attempting to use the terrain to resist to the end.
Around the stone platform, there were still several dozen loyal robber guards.
"Archers, fire at will!"
Stone Crow commanded hoarsely as the Magic Staff in his hand flashed. Streaks of Arcane Missiles shot toward the charging Knights, trying to halt their advance.
"Iron Arm" Rogge, meanwhile, swung his Giant Axe, sending a Knight who was trying to charge up the stone platform flying—horse and all. He was incredibly ferocious.
From high above, Raylo took in the entire scene, his gaze locking onto "Stone Crow" on the stone platform.
’To catch the thieves, first catch the king.’
"Baofeng, let’s go down and meet him."
Baofeng let out an excited screech. With a flap of its wings, a visible, pale-green airflow gathered around its body.
Baofeng flapped its wings violently, conjuring a sudden gale. Like an invisible giant hand, the wind blasted the stone platform, knocking the robber Mages attempting to cast spells and the Archers preparing to fire off their feet. Stumbling and unable to stand steady, their attacks naturally lost all accuracy.
Immediately after, Baofeng descended like a tawny bolt of lightning, diving straight for "Stone Crow" on the stone platform.
"Stone Crow’s" expression changed drastically. He felt a mortal threat from the sky.
He hurriedly raised his Magic Staff, rapidly chanting a Spell. A ghostly blue Magic Shield instantly enveloped his entire body.
"Baofeng, tear it to shreds!"
"RAWR!"
Baofeng let out a furious roar and flapped its wings mightily. A visible, green tempest materialized out of thin air, lashing at Stone Crow’s Magic Shield like countless sharp blades!
At the same time, Baofeng’s massive body dove like a cannonball, its steel-like claws glinting coldly as they clawed at the shield with an aura that could tear through anything!
"SZZT! KRAK!"
Under the slicing wind and the Giant Strength of its claws, the Magic Shield that Stone Crow was so proud of lasted for less than two breaths before letting out a mournful cry and shattering into pieces like broken glass.
"No!"
Stone Crow let out a despairing shriek.
The next moment, Baofeng’s massive body pressed down hard, pinning "Stone Crow" to the cold Stone Slab, its sharp claws mere millimeters from his throat.
"Chief!"
Seeing this, "Iron Arm" Rogge’s eyes looked ready to split from their sockets. With a furious roar, he brandished his Giant Axe and charged forward to the rescue.
However, Baofeng merely shot him a disdainful glance and flapped its wings forcefully.
An incomparably powerful hurricane materialized, slamming into Rogge’s chest like an invisible wall.
Rogge felt an irresistible Giant Strength strike him, forcing him back step after step, the gale so strong he couldn’t even open his eyes.
With their chief captured, the remaining robbers completely lost the will to fight.
"THUMP!"
"THUMP!"
It is unknown who started it, but the robbers around the stone platform threw down their Weapons one by one, falling to their knees and trembling.
"We surrender! Don’t kill us!"
"My lord, spare us! We were forced into this too!"
Cries for mercy rose and fell.
Ed directed the Knights to quickly take control of the situation, disarming and guarding all the surrendered robbers.
The last rays of the setting sun vanished completely, and night fell.
Inside Crow’s Nest Valley, torches blazed, illuminating faces filled with either fear or numbness.
The flag of Black Stone Territory, snapping in the night wind, was planted in this former den of iniquity.
Raylo’s assessment of the battle was that it was rather unremarkable. With overwhelming superiority in every aspect, an easy victory was to be expected. If it weren’t for Master Barnaby’s experiments lacking "consumables," Raylo wouldn’t have bothered dealing with them, as long as they hadn’t provoked him. But it couldn’t be helped. It was their bad luck to cross his path.
