Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 365: Bad Luck Talisman
Getting permission from Lucian was actually very easy.
However, Lana soon noticed something strange.
Lucian’s attitude felt... different.
He wasn’t ignoring her exactly, but he seemed to be deliberately avoiding her. His responses were brief and distant.
’Did something happen to him?’ Lana wondered.
The thought made her search through her memories of her past life.
But even after thinking carefully for a long time, she couldn’t remember anything significant happening to Lucian around this time.
Meanwhile, Lucian himself wasn’t doing well.
He lay on his bed, his body burning with fever. The temperature kept rising, leaving his breathing uneven.
Beside him, his assistant looked extremely worried.
"You should call the healing spirit," the assistant urged anxiously. "It can heal you."
Lucian shook his head weakly. "The healing spirit won’t help."
A cold light appeared in his eyes.
"Once I deal with that person... I’ll make sure she regrets triggering it."
Hearing this, the assistant frowned.
"Our plan isn’t ready yet," he warned carefully. "But she already used the trigger in advance. I’m worried she might cross the line."
Lucian’s expression turned ice-cold.
"If she dares to do that," he said calmly, "then I’ll forget about everything else and kill her directly."
The assistant fell silent immediately.
Only Lucian himself knew how furious he truly was.
But whenever he thought of Lana, his anger gradually softened.
Meanwhile, Lana had already returned to focusing on her cultivation.
Recently she had been so busy improving her strength that she hadn’t had time to make talismans.
So after taking a short rest, she decided to start crafting them again.
Soon, several intermediate-rank talismans appeared in her hands.
Some of them were quite ordinary, but a few were truly remarkable.
One of them was a strange talisman capable of attracting bad luck.
At first, Lana hadn’t planned on making too many of that particular talisman.
But as she stared at the dark symbol slowly forming on the paper, a thoughtful smile appeared on her lips.
Before signing the contract with Daniel, Lana had secretly left something behind with him.
She was extremely curious to see how he would behave after receiving such an enormous amount of money.
To satisfy that curiosity, she had prepared a special talisman in advance.
It was a surveillance talisman, something she had created by combining ancient talisman techniques with a concept similar to modern surveillance cameras.
The method was simple.
One talisman would be placed in one location, while another remained with her. If she lightly flicked the talisman in her hand, the one on the other side would activate and transmit what was happening there.
A faint projection would appear in front of her, allowing her to observe everything.
However, the talisman had a limitation.
It could not be reused.
Once activated, it would continue showing the scene until the mystic energy stored inside the talisman completely ran out.
At that moment, the connection would disappear forever.
Now, Lana was dying to know how Daniel was behaving after getting the money.
So she lightly flicked the talisman between her fingers.
A moment later, a faint ripple appeared in the air before her.
Soon, a slightly unstable screen formed, flickering like an old television signal.
Through that blurry projection, Lana saw Daniel.
He was sitting alone in his living room, laughing loudly.
The sound was filled with greed and excitement.
Lana didn’t need to guess why he was laughing like that.
It was because of the four hundred million dollars he had just received.
For now, Lana had every intention of letting him enjoy that money.
But only for now.
’Let him celebrate...’ she thought calmly. ’Let him feel like he’s standing at the peak of his life.’
A cold smile appeared on her lips.
’The higher he climbs, the harder he will fall.’
She had already planned how to take that money back from him.
For the moment, she simply wanted him to become completely complacent.
Sure enough, Daniel soon stood up and walked toward the kitchen to pour himself a glass of water.
But the moment he took a sip, he suddenly choked.
"Cough! Cough!"
He bent forward violently as the water went down the wrong way, coughing desperately while pounding his chest.
After a moment, he finally caught his breath.
"What the hell..." he muttered.
He wiped his mouth and shook his head.
"Must be bad luck," he grumbled. "But since I just got four hundred million dollars, I’ll forgive it."
However, the next second... His foot suddenly slipped on the floor. Thud!
He tripped and fell flat onto the ground. Pain instantly spread across his body.
Daniel’s expression twisted with anger as he jumped back to his feet.
"Jenny!" he roared instinctively.
But halfway through shouting her name, he froze.
Jenny was no longer there. She had already left with Lana.
Daniel clicked his tongue irritably.
"I really need to find another punching bag," he muttered under his breath.
Then another thought crossed his mind. His eyes narrowed slightly.
"That girl still belongs to me," he murmured. "After all the losses she caused... this four hundred million is just compensation."
With that thought, he pulled out his phone and tried calling Jenny.
However, Daniel had already underestimated Lana’s intelligence.
Lana had long guessed he would try to contact Jenny again.
He might even attempt to manipulate her remotely.
So without hesitation, Lana had already replaced Jenny’s phone.
Through Monica, she had given Jenny a completely new device with a new number.
Now Daniel kept dialing repeatedly, but none of the calls went through.
After trying several times, his expression turned darker and darker.
"What an ungrateful girl..." he muttered angrily while staring at the phone screen. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"She really knows how to cut people off once she gets what she wants."
With an irritated snort, he ended the call.
But just as he lowered his hand... Slip.
The phone suddenly fell straight down. Thud!
It landed directly on his foot. "AAAH!"
Daniel screamed in pain and jumped around while clutching his foot.
