Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 305: Storage Talismans
Her eyes widened. "Then how did I even have instant noodles?"
Mr. Crow shook his head slowly. "Axel, of course. He probably couldn’t bear to see you hunting for food."
Warmth spread through her chest at those words.
"And there’s more," Mr. Crow added. "They found food, yet they’re eating without enthusiasm. Have you noticed?"
Lana nodded slowly.
"That’s because they lack basic seasonings and spices," he continued.
"Without them, food becomes almost inedible. Right now, they’re eating like someone forced them to chew raw apples just to survive."
Hearing this, Lana felt both amused and slightly annoyed. ’That’s... painfully accurate,’ she thought.
"I don’t have any spices either," she admitted quietly.
Mr. Crow chuckled. "You don’t need to worry about that."
She frowned. "What do you mean?" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Your crazy uncle," he replied smoothly. "He definitely left something behind for you."
Her brows furrowed deeper. "Left what?"
"Something Axel gave you," Mr. Crow said calmly. "Something to make sure you don’t go hungry."
Hearing those words, Lana shook her head slowly, the firelight flickering across her face.
"I haven’t," she replied. "That’s what’s strange. He only handed me a few talismans, and that was all."
Mr. Crow’s lips curved into a cold smirk. "Those weren’t the only talismans," he remarked.
"Before you reach that conclusion, check your messages."
Lana paused, then took out her phone.
The faint glow of the screen reflected in her eyes as she opened the message thread.
Several short lines from Axel appeared before her.
"Take care of your safety."
"If you feel you’re in grave danger, use the teleportation talisman immediately."
"I’ll handle other matters."
Her fingers stilled as she read the final line.
"The talisman I gave you is a storage talisman. Drop a bit of your blood on it, and you’ll be able to open it and access its contents."
Lana’s eyes widened slightly. ’A storage talisman...’ Curiosity surged through her chest.
She had heard of them before... rare, precious, and notoriously difficult to unlock.
The urge to test it immediately tugged at her, almost irresistible.
Then she felt it again.
The stares.
Her classmates were watching her like hungry vultures circling prey.
Suppressing her curiosity, she exhaled softly and reached into her bag instead.
Taking out five packets of instant noodles, she looked up with a polite smile.
"I have plenty," she said gently. "If I’m eating, everyone should have one."
The response was immediate.
"How could we take that?" Betty protested, waving their hands hastily.
Richard forced a smile. "We... we actually prefer barbecue more."
Lana chuckled softly, the sound light and unbothered. "Don’t be so polite with me," she replied.
"If you really feel indebted, you can just transfer me the money later."
Her words made several hearts waver.
After a brief pause, Fay finally stepped forward and picked up a packet.
Wade followed soon after, then Richard, Quinn, and Betty.
One by one, the tension eased. In the end, Layla was the last to approach.
She smiled awkwardly at Lana. "I didn’t think you’d still leave one for me," she admitted.
"Especially after I ate more than half of yours earlier."
Lana waved her hand dismissively. "It’s fine."
Without another word, she turned and entered her tent, the fabric rustling softly behind her as the outside chatter faded into the night.
Seeing Lana leave so abruptly, the classroom fell into an awkward silence.
The air felt heavy, as if even the dust motes floating under the pale lights had frozen.
For a brief moment, no one spoke, especially Quinn.
He stared at the tent, fingers rubbing together nervously, before he finally murmured in a soft voice,
"Do you think Lana understood that we were eyeing her food, and that’s why she distributed it without hesitation?"
He paused, then added, almost guiltily,
"Maybe she felt offended after seeing like this."
Layla shook her head.
"I’ve never heard of anyone getting so offended that they’d give away all their food and just leave," she replied.
"It must’ve been because of our behavior. We took her food without promising anything in return."
Hearing that, the others nodded one after another.
The explanation felt reasonable enough, and soon, a quiet sense of agreement settled among them.
They would give Lana something once they return.
....................
Meanwhile, Lana had no idea that her reaction had caused such a misunderstanding.
Curiosity bubbling inside her, she pulled out the storage talisman Axel had given her.
The paper felt strangely warm against her fingertips.
She pricked her finger, wincing slightly as a sharp sting shot through her skin, and a single drop of blood fell onto the yellow paper.
The moment the blood was absorbed, the talisman began to float.
Lana’s breath hitched.
In the next second, it expanded until it reached about half the height of an average person.
A soft yellow glow spread across its surface, shimmering like liquid light.
The surface rippled as if it were made of water, and because it stood upright, it looked eerily like a small door suspended in midair.
Lana stared at it, fascination written all over her face.
Mr. Crow cleared his throat.
"You should... well, you should put your hand inside and try to take things out."
Lana hesitated, her fingers twitching, and was just about to do it when Mr. Crow suddenly grabbed her wrist. "Wait."
He extended his own wings instead, his expression tense and faintly terrified.
Even though fear flickered in his eyes, his worry was greater than his hesitation.
’What if someone tampered with the talisman?’ he thought grimly. ’I’d never forgive myself if she got hurt.’
Taking a steadying breath, he waved his wings inside the glowing opening.
His movements were frantic at first, but when nothing happened and his hand came out unharmed, he quickly pulled it back.
"Alright," he said, exhaling in relief. "It’s safe now."
Lana arched an eyebrow. "I never thought you’d be this thoughtful."
Mr. Crow rolled his eyes. "Just do as I said."
She nodded, then slowly reached her hand inside. Instantly, her senses were overwhelmed.
