Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All-Chapter 744: Coldness
Chapter 744: Chapter 744: Coldness
Sheng Yin took a few days off from the shoot and visited the Sheng Family.
She stood in front of the big Sheng Mansion, taking a deep breath before stepping inside.
The servants greeted her politely, but she ignored them and walked straight to the living room.
Inside, all the family members of the Sheng Family were waiting for her.
Mr. Sheng, Mrs. Sheng, her eldest brother, and her second brother.
It had been more than a decade since she last saw them, and yet she didn’t feel an ounce of affection for them.
Maybe their past cold blooded reaction made her see their true color, or maybe it was their indifference with which they treated her earlier.
All the memories that she had never thought started to rush into her mind.
The times when she was mistreated by the many, the small time period for which her family treated her, and how after the birth of her younger sister they completely transferred their love to Sheng Xin.
This mistreatment continued as Sheng Xin took away her things, and eventually...she took her boyfriend.
Having had enough, she left, and now that Sheng Xin was found dead, they suddenly remembered about her and wanted to fix her marriage with Qi Bailu...her ex-boyfriend.
The room was silent for a moment. Then, Mr. Sheng cleared his throat. "Yin, it’s good that you have come back."
Mrs. Sheng gave her a soft look, as if she was truly happy to see her. "Yin, we have missed you all these years."
Her eldest brother nodded. "We know we made mistakes in the past, but we want to make things right."
Her second brother added, "You are our family, Yin. Let’s start fresh."
Sheng Yin listened quietly, a small smile appearing on her lips. She tilted her head slightly, watching their faces as they spoke.
They looked regretful, their voices gentle, as if they truly wanted to make amends.
But Sheng Yin knew better.
Their words were just words. If Sheng Xin were still alive, would they even remember she existed?
She kept her smile, her expression calm and elegant.
But when Mrs. Sheng tried to take her hand, Sheng Yin stepped back slightly, keeping the distance between them.
Mr. Sheng frowned. "Yin, we just—"
Sheng Yin’s smile didn’t falter. "Father, I understand. You all want to make things right."
She looked at each of them, her gaze gentle but distant. "I have grown up. I have learned to live on my own. There is no need to talk about the past anymore."
Her words were polite, but the invisible wall between them was clear.
Mrs. Sheng’s eyes wavered. "Yin, we are still family."
"Yes, we are," Sheng Yin agreed, but there was no warmth in her voice.
Silence filled the room again. Her family members exchanged glances, unsure of what to say next.
Finally, her eldest brother forced a smile. "Then, let’s talk about your marriage with Qi Bailu."
The moment he said that, Sheng Yin’s smile faded.
Before she composed herself and said,
"Don’t worry. I will arrive at the marriage venue on time. Just tell me the address."
The room fell silent at Sheng Yin’s words.
Mrs. Sheng’s hands trembled slightly, and Mr. Sheng looked troubled.
Her brothers exchanged glances as if unsure of how to respond.
Her eldest brother spoke first. "Yin, that’s not what we meant. We just—"
"I understand perfectly," Sheng Yin interrupted, her tone light but firm. "You want me to marry Qi Bailu. That’s fine."
She smiled again, but it didn’t reach her eyes. "Just give me the details, and I’ll be there."
Mrs. Sheng’s eyes filled with sadness. "Yin, we want what’s best for you."
Sheng Yin tilted her head, amusement flickering in her gaze.
"Do you?" she asked softly. "You ignored me for years. But now, when you need me, you remember I exist."
Her words stung. Her second brother shifted uncomfortably. "It’s not like that."
"Then what is it like?" Sheng Yin asked, raising an eyebrow. "Tell me."
No one spoke.
Mr. Sheng sighed. "Yin, the past is in the past. We made mistakes, but we want to move forward."
Sheng Yin chuckled lightly. "So do I."
Mrs. Sheng stepped closer again, but Sheng Yin took another small step back. The movement was subtle, but it was enough.
Enough to show that the distance between them wasn’t just physical.
"I’ll come to the wedding," Sheng Yin said, her voice still calm. "But don’t expect anything more from me."
Her brothers looked frustrated, but they didn’t push further. They knew they had no right to.
Mr. Sheng finally nodded. "Fine. We’ll send you the details."
Sheng Yin nodded back. "Good."
She turned toward the door, not giving them a chance to say anything else. Before she left, she paused and glanced over her shoulder.
"And please don’t call act familiar with me or touch at the wedding venue, or else I will cancel it right then and there."
The air in the room turned even colder after Sheng Yin’s words.
Mrs. Sheng opened her mouth as if to say something, but no words came out. She looked hurt, but Sheng Yin didn’t feel sorry. She had been hurt for years, and no one had cared.
Mr. Sheng sighed heavily. "Yin, must you be this distant? We are your family."
Sheng Yin gave a small smile. "Family?" She let out a soft chuckle. "You only remember that now?"
Her eldest brother clenched his fists, his face darkening. "We are trying, Yin. Can’t you see that?"
Sheng Yin tilted her head slightly. "Trying? Or just making sure the marriage happens?"
Her second brother stepped forward, his expression tense. "Qi Bailu is a good man. He—"
"He was my boyfriend," Sheng Yin cut him off, her voice sharp for the first time.
"Then he became Sheng Xin’s. And now, after she’s gone, you’re giving him back to me like I’m some replacement?"
The room was silent. No one could deny it. That was exactly what they were doing.
She turned and walked toward the door, not bothering to look at them anymore.
Mrs. Sheng’s voice trembled. "Yin... we truly are sorry."
Sheng Yin paused for a second but didn’t turn around.
"If you were truly sorry, you wouldn’t have waited until now."
After coming out, Sheng Yin looked at the sky and chuckled.
Even after living two lifetimes, she was still hurt. Humans are truly unpredictable.
Maybe if they had never treated her well from the beginning and didn’t show even an ounce of guilt, she might have accepted the reality.
As if the cloud had sensed her sadness, rain started to pour.
Sheng Yin lowered her head and fell into deep thought.
The times when her mother, father, and brothers cared for her and pampered her.
Those moments felt like a dream now—something fragile that had shattered into pieces a long time ago.
Suddenly she realized that the rain wasn’t falling on her. Lifting her head, she saw a blurry figure wearing a black trench coat.
Yet she recognized him...Yu Shuchang.
"Told you they would make you feel miserable. Come to me. I will pamper you. Your ex has already cheated on you, but I...I never looked at a woman other than you."
Sheng Yin’s eyes turned red, and her shoulders started to shake.
She cried.
He did. He once loved Susan. With his whole heart. To the point that...he never accepted Sheng Yin’s pursuit and always doubted her love.
Yet, in this life, he truly never spared a single glance to anyone but her.
She sniffed, wiping her face quickly. "Why are you here?"
Yu Shuchang sighed. "Because I knew you’d be sad. And I didn’t want you to be alone." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Sheng Yin let out a shaky laugh. "I’m used to being alone."
Yu Shuchang frowned.
He took a step closer, then another, until he was right in front of her.
His hand lifted, hesitated for a second, then gently landed on her head.
"You don’t have to be," he said softly.
Sheng Yin closed her eyes for a moment. His touch was warm, steady, different from the cold words she had just heard from her family.
She opened her eyes again and took a deep breath.
"You love me, right?"
"Yes." Yu Shuchang said firmly, and for a moment, he felt as if Sheng Yin would accept his confession.
He had already thought of a way to deal with the Sheng family.
His Yin suffered so much, and yet those b*stards dare to act high and mighty.
If they had dared to show this attitude to Yu Holea back then, she would have refused to ever contact them.
But it’s alright. Yu Holea forgave them, and he would take care of her.
As for Sheng Yin, he would make sure to pamper her and spoil her to the point she couldn’t bear to leave him.
"I want you to date Susan for 2 weeks." Sheng Yin said.
