Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All-Chapter 737: Collateral
Chapter 737: Chapter 737: Collateral
Sheng Yin’s fingers tightened around the hem of her dress.
She inhaled deeply, her heart pounding against her ribcage.
"You don’t need an explanation," she said, her voice deliberately calm.
"Things change, Mr. Yu. That’s life."
Yu Shuchang narrowed his eyes, stepping even closer. His presence was overwhelming, suffocating.
"Things change? Just like that?" His voice was laced with frustration. "Are you seriously expecting me to believe that?"
Sheng Yin looked away, refusing to meet his gaze.
"Believe whatever you want."
A sharp exhale left Yu Shuchang’s lips. He ran a hand through his hair, his patience wearing thin.
"Sheng Yin, look at me," he demanded.
She hesitated but eventually lifted her gaze. The intensity in his eyes made her breath hitch.
"Do you love him?" Yu Shuchang asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Sheng Yin felt her throat tighten.
She had prepared herself for this confrontation, but standing before him now, she found herself wavering.
Lying to Yu Shuchang felt like lying to herself.
He must have seen the flicker of hesitation in her eyes because his expression darkened. "You can’t even say it," he murmured.
Sheng Yin swallowed hard. "It doesn’t matter what I feel."
"It matters to me." Yu Shuchang’s voice was sharp, his frustration palpable.
"Sheng Yin, if you’re doing this because of your family, then fight it. If you don’t love him, don’t marry him."
Sheng Yin, however, didn’t bother to look at him.
"Mr. Yu, please leave. There is nothing I want to talk about..."
Seeing her stubbornness, the frustration from Yu Shuchang’s face slowly vanished and was replaced with eerie silence.
He turned around and walked up to the door.
Seeing him leave, Sheng Yin’s heart sank, and she couldn’t help but think,
’See, he doesn’t even know me. I don’t love Qi Bailu at all! But...he didn’t ask anymore, and after 5 minutes of argument, he is planning to leave. He truly doesn’t love me!’
Click.
The sound of the door shutting brought Sheng Yin out of her thoughts.
"Mr. Yu, what are you doing?" Sheng Yin asked when she saw Yu Shuchang removing his watch and placing it on the table.
Yu Shuchang had a smile plastered on his face,
"Nothing much. Come and sit me."
With that, he plopped on the sofa.
Sheng Yin rolled her eyes and said with an irritated expression,
"I am not interested; just leave."
Yu Shuchang chuckled and said in a gentle tone,
"Yin, I have a very interesting video which your fiance will love to watch and might break off the engagement after seeing it.
Do you want to look at it one last time before I send it, or..."
"What video?" Sheng Yin was instantly on alert; her heart skipped a beat, and she marched to where Yu Shuchang was.
She extended her hand, but instead of handing her the phone, Yu Shuchang held her hand and pulled her to his lap.
"Don’t be angry. It’s not any private video, just an interesting one."
His one hand tightly held Sheng Yin’s waist, while the other turned the video on.
At first, Sheng Yin struggled slightly, however, the video soon attracted Sheng Yin’s attention.
It was a video of her kissing Yu Shuchang. She looked...as if she was truly in love with Yu Shuchang.
Her heart pounded violently against her ribs.
Her mind screamed at her to snatch the phone away and delete the evidence, but her body refused to move.
She was frozen, trapped in his arms, trapped by the truth staring back at her.
Yu Shuchang’s hold around her waist tightened as he whispered,
"Now, tell me again... do you love Qi Bailu?"
Sheng Yin clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
"This—this video means nothing. It’s in the past."
"Is it?" Yu Shuchang’s lips curled into a smirk, but his eyes were anything but amused.
"Because it doesn’t look like the past to me. It looks like the truth you’re so desperately trying to hide."
Sheng Yin sucked in a sharp breath, forcing herself to regain her composure.
"You think you can blackmail me with this? Do you really think Qi Bailu would care? Even if he sees this, it won’t change anything."
Yu Shuchang’s expression darkened. "Then why do you look so scared?"
Sheng Yin swallowed, but she refused to let him see her waver. "I’m not scared."
He leaned in, his breath warm against her ear.
"Alright then, I will send it to Qi Bailu and the Sheng Family..."
Sheng Yin panicked and tried to snatch away the phone, but Yu Shuchang moved the phone away and whispered in her ears,
"After sending it to them, I am going to post it on internet, at least then you won’t act like a scumbag and learn to take responsibility."
If earlier, Sheng Yin was only panicking a bit after hearing Yu Shuchang’s words, she panicked even more.
"No! You can’t."
"I can, and I will." Yu Shuchang said with a smile.
Sheng Yin bit her lips, she cursed the moment she was mesmerized by Yu Shuchang’s beauty and kissed him.
Yet a part of her heart was excited and screamed at her,
’Look, he loves you! Otherwise, why would he go to such a length to blackmail you?’
Her mind rorared at her,
’Idiot, this isn’t the time to think about all of these! Your entire plan will be ruined if you dare to let Yu Shuchang intervene.’
Taking a deep breath, Sheng Yin, with a smile, tugged on Yu Shuchang’s sleeves and begged,
"Brother Shuchang, please don’t mess with me. I will answer you, okay? I don’t love Qi Bailu. I am marrying him for my own reasons."
Yu Shuchang’s smirk deepened as he studied her expression. His fingers trailed up her arm, his grip light but firm enough to keep her in place.
"Own reasons?" he repeated, voice dripping with mockery. "That’s a nice way to say you’re running away."
Sheng Yin stiffened, but she didn’t deny it.
Yu Shuchang tilted his head, his eyes locked onto hers.
"Tell me the real reason, Yin. What are you so afraid of?"
Sheng Yin’s lips parted, but no words came out. She couldn’t tell him. She couldn’t let him get involved.
Instead of answering, she reached for his phone again.
Yu Shuchang anticipated it this time, smoothly slipping the device into his pocket before catching her wrist.
"Not so fast," he murmured.
Sheng Yin gritted her teeth. "What do you want?"
"I already told you," he said, voice low and dangerous. "Don’t marry Qi Bailu."
Sheng Yin let out a bitter chuckle. "You think it’s that simple?"
"It is," Yu Shuchang said, his thumb brushing over her wrist. "Unless you’re telling me you actually want to be with him."
Silence.
Yu Shuchang’s eyes darkened.
"You can’t even lie properly, Yin."
Sheng Yin exhaled sharply, yanking her hand free.
"You don’t understand," she said, her voice suddenly weary. "Even if I don’t love him, I have to do this."
Yu Shuchang’s gaze flickered with something unreadable.
"You have to?" he echoed. "Why? What are they holding over you?"
"Nothing." Sheng Yin shook her head and said, "I...I have my own plan, and if you love even a bit, you will not interfere."
Yu Shuchang paused before asking,
"You don’t plan to marry Qi Bailu at all, right?"
Sheng Yin stiffened but didn’t give any answer.
Yu Shuchang’s mood lightened; from what he knew about Sheng Yin, he could deduce that Sheng Yin agreed with his question.
Tucking the loose strands of her hair behind her ears, he softly said,
"Yin, I will wait for you. After completing what you are going to do, come back to me. However..."
His tone suddenly turned chilly, and he said,
"If you dare to wander off or did something foolish, I will your pretty ass, I am clear?"
"You...you...are you implying that you will sp...you!" Sheng Yin’s face slowly turned red, and she pointed at him with disbelief.
Yu Shuchang chuckled and buried his face into the crook of her neck.
"I will spank you, and depending on your offense, take necessary action." He said in a voice filled with arrogance.
Before Sheng Yin could reply to him, Yu Shuchang said softly,
"I have everything, Yin. I can give you everything of mine. Money, fame, and even...myself. I can be your househusband if that is what you want; I can even deal with the Sheng family. With such a good dog by your side, if you dare to look for some other dog, I will bite you."
Sheng Yin exhaled sharply.
For a moment she felt...she was being too cruel to Yu Shuchang...however...
"This conversation is over. Give me your phone."
Yu Shuchang chuckled, lazily reclining against the sofa. "No can do. Consider it collateral."
"For what?" She crossed her arms, glaring at him.
"For making sure you don’t do anything stupid," he said smoothly. "Like actually going through with this marriage."
