Getting a Technology System in Modern Day-Chapter 1036: Build Up II
With ten hours to go until the fight, something finally changed on the stale live stream as spatial disturbances were detected and immediately highlighted. Viewers now saw with their own eyes as the disturbance turned into a tear, and a wormhole formed. A single, massive ship appeared about a million kilometers from the dwarf planet.
It was immediately highlighted on the live stream with a summary piece of information about it: [Xor’Vak Fairness Inspection Team].
Due to the Terra Empire being the one with the ability to choose the location, the other side needed to be allowed to check the site and ensure nothing was set to specifically advantage the emperor or disadvantage the Grand Xor’Vak. The massive ship was here to do exactly that.
The ship didn’t move from its location as it released a blinding light that covered the distance in just three seconds, illuminating an entire hemisphere of the dwarf planet for a moment before the light moved to the next point. It scanned in a grid pattern, moving from one grid to another within seconds as it gathered every feasible piece of data from all available sensors on the massive ship to ensure there was nothing hidden.
The entire process took an hour before the massive lights, which acted as the only source of light in the area, finally shut down, returning the area to pure darkness if viewed from the visible light spectrum. There was no source of light anywhere near the area. With the gravity source being an artificial one, no light was produced from it, leaving the area in pitch darkness, and nothing was planned to resolve that.
The empire had gone out of its way to limit the amount of equipment present in the area to the bare minimum needed to ensure everything went well without allowing any excuse to be provided later. Among those not needed, light was one of them, as the two individuals who were going to face each other in this place didn’t need it to see; the mana in the area was enough to allow them to see as if it were noon.
As for how the live stream was being broadcasted with the dwarf planet clearly visible despite no source of light, that was because there were no cameras, but rather mana sensors observing all the mana within the area. This was then decoded and converted into video, allowing the live stream to be flexible in both the angles and things shown, as if it were just a live 3D rendering of the area and not the real world.
Once done with the inspection, and with nothing outside of the expected materials and equipment discovered, the ship opened another wormhole in front of it and disappeared into it, returning the area to stillness once again as the live stream returned to just showing the dwarf planet, which rotated fully every six hours.

As the hours to the occasion continued to dwindle, the amount of tension felt by the people continued to increase. They knew from watching live sports that even teams many believed would win had the possibility of losing, and it had happened many times across different sports. That was one of the reasons why people loved live sports. But when that live sport situation had the leader of your civilization, who had moved you from a single planet to now conquering an entire Conclave, as one of the subjects, with death being one of the potential outcomes, there was no way anyone would be calm, no matter how confident they were about their leader’s capabilities. They knew it only takes a short moment before everything goes wrong and the empire loses its beloved leader.
Rina was no different; in fact, she was more worried than anyone else, despite being one of the few people who knew just how powerful the emperor, her husband, was. But as a woman who was six months pregnant, the thought of her husband going to a fight to the death was not something she could fully digest.
However, knowing the inevitability of the situation, she didn’t make any of her worries obvious, or at least she tried. She continued acting the same way she usually did, knowing that showing any changes to her emotional state risked introducing a variable in Aron’s mind which, no matter how minuscule the chances were, might be the reason he ended up losing in the first place.
“I really want to see the FOL (Fountain of Life) in its original environment to see if we can understand how exactly it was created,” she said as she drank mango juice, which had now become a regular drink in the palace due to it being the emperor’s favorite.
“I will take you with me once the mapping ship arrives at TRAPPIST-1, when I go to relieve those who were left there of their duty,” Aron said as he placed his glass back down on the table, acting as if what he was about to do in a few hours was just a normal errand. At least, that was how Rina saw it.
Both the husband and wife were acting calm in front of each other for the sake of the other person.
“I look forward to it. Is Ayaka going to come along with us?”
“I think she will, unless she declines, as she will be promoted to overseeing the area since it is her area of expertise,” Aron said, but didn’t go into detail about what exactly he was planning to do with the star system, because at the moment, a more urgent situation needed to be handled first.
Their conversation about random things continued for about an hour before Aron stood from the garden and gave his wife a kiss before leaving as usual. He headed to where one of the stargates located in the Imperial Palace was, immediately heading to Mars, as he was now just an hour away from the face-off.
