Genshin Impact: I'm The Envoy of Snezhnaya-Chapter 308: The Statue of the Seven
Chapter 308: The Statue of the Seven
Before the Vision Hunt Decree was issued, Watatsumi Island actually had a branch shrine of the Grand Narukami Shrine.
This shrine was called Mouun Shrine.
After the Vision Hunt Decree was announced and Watatsumi Island raised the banner of rebellion against the Shogunate, this Mouun Shrine—originally a symbol of Shogunate authority—was ultimately destroyed by Watatsumi’s side.
Now, there was no trace of its former prosperity to be seen. All that remained were collapsed halls and torii gates long since faded.
But what Bai Luo cared about wasn’t the condition of the shrine itself. After all, if it truly was still connected to the Grand Narukami Shrine, then someone like him—who had just offended Narukami—would be in serious trouble.
What he cared about was the thing standing in front of Mouun Shrine—the Statue of the Seven!
That’s right—the Statue of the Seven.
Having been in this world for quite a few years now, Bai Luo had noticed several differences between this world and the game.
The biggest difference was precisely the Teleport Waypoints and the Statues of the Seven.
Before he became a Fatui Harbinger, Bai Luo had already traveled through several nations.
Yet in all those lands, he had never once seen any trace of a Statue of the Seven.
He had originally thought this was simply a difference between the game and reality.
But now, the Statue of the Seven standing right here... how was that to be explained?
"Lord Battousai!"
Just as Bai Luo was standing beneath the Statue of the Seven, staring straight at it like a country bumpkin, an excited voice sounded from behind him.
Turning around, Bai Luo saw a very ordinary Watatsumi Island soldier.
Even though the Fatui had already fully taken over patrol duties on Watatsumi Island, the people of Watatsumi were clearly not entirely comfortable leaving such matters completely to them.
The Sangonomiya forces still organized their own patrol soldiers.
And these Sangonomiya troops, wearing distinctive uniforms, had their own unique unit designations—such as the Swordfish II Squad that had nearly been wiped out by Sveta before.
"Out on patrol? You’ve worked hard."
At present, only a handful of people on Watatsumi Island—such as Kokomi and Teppei—knew Bai Luo’s true identity. To everyone else, he was still the admirable Battousai.
"Not at all... you’re the one who’s worked hard, sir."
The soldier scratched his head shyly. Being praised by his idol, he was clearly even more motivated than before.
"By the way... when was this thing erected here?"
After exchanging greetings, Bai Luo pointed at the Statue of the Seven in front of him and asked.
Judging by the man’s appearance, he should be responsible for patrols in this area.
If that was the case, then he would surely know where this thing came from.
"Oh, you mean the Statue of the Seven? It’s always been here."
The soldier glanced at the statue Bai Luo was pointing at, not quite understanding why he was asking.
Could it be that Lord Battousai was seeing this thing for the first time?
"Always been here? You mean it’s always been standing here?"
Bai Luo’s expression gradually turned serious as he asked again.
"Yeah. Back when Orobashi-sama fell, Watatsumi Island had no choice but to bow its head to the Shogun of the Shogunate. After that, the branch of the Grand Narukami Shrine was built here, along with this Statue of the Seven."
"So that means... it’s been here ever since Inazuma was founded?"
"Yes."
"..."
A layer of goosebumps had already risen along Bai Luo’s arms.
It turned out... this continent had never lacked Statues of the Seven.
Rather, it was just that he had been unable to see them before.
But that raised a new question—why could he see them now?
Was it because he had just fought Raiden Ei, triggering some kind of system update?
Yet no matter how he tried to call out to the system, it was as if it were dead—there was no response at all.
Or was it that...
Realizing something, Bai Luo lifted his head and looked in the direction of Mondstadt.
Could it be that the Traveler... had already arrived?
And that the Traveler arrival had caused the Statues of the Seven—previously nonexistent in his eyes—to finally reveal themselves?
With a few words, Bai Luo dismissed the Watatsumi Island soldier, then turned his gaze back to the Statue of the Seven, which radiated a faint, mysterious glow.
When the Traveler touched this thing, their elemental affinity would change—so what would happen if he touched it?
Would Raiden Ei in Inazuma City notice his existence?
He understood clearly that rashly touching this suddenly appeared Statue of the Seven was an extremely unwise thing to do.
But after glancing at his quantumization, which was still available for use, Bai Luo steeled himself, extended his hand, and reached toward the Raiden Shogun’s Statue of the Seven.
At the instant his hand was about to make contact, the surrounding temperature plummeted.
On Watatsumi Island, where snow should have been impossible, thick, goose-feather-like snowflakes began to fall from the sky.
"Huff..."
A beautiful phantom appeared behind Bai Luo. She reached out, seized his wrist, and forcibly stopped him from touching the statue.
The bone-chilling cold made Bai Luo shiver involuntarily.
"Your Majesty?"
Of course, Bai Luo knew who the phantom behind him was.
What he hadn’t expected was that this action of his would provoke such a strong reaction from the Tsaritsa.
"Do you not want me to touch it?"
Feeling the icy presence behind him, Bai Luo felt no fear—instead, he felt an overwhelming sense of safety.
He gave up resisting and asked calmly.
The phantom of the Tsaritsa clearly had no ability to speak, but the gradually weakening snowstorm served as her answer.
"At least give me a reason. You know me—I’m extremely curious, and sometimes I do things without caring about the consequences."
Bai Luo wasn’t lying. He had always acted for the sake of the process, never the outcome.
If the Tsaritsa couldn’t give him a convincing reason, he was genuinely worried that he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from touching these statues.
After his words fell, the snowflakes around him seemed to be drawn by something.
They gathered before Bai Luo, gradually forming a Statue of the Seven belonging to the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya.
What was extremely strange was that this newly formed Statue of the Seven was upside down.
Yes—at first, he thought perhaps Her Majesty had simply placed it incorrectly.
But as the surrounding blizzard subsided, he finally realized that this inverted statue was arranged intentionally.
"An inverted Statue of the Seven?"
As he spoke those words, the image of a drunken poet appeared in Bai Luo’s mind.
If he remembered correctly, inverted Statues of the Seven had also appeared in the game’s storyline—but that part of the plot revealed too little information to truly explain their meaning.
Was the Tsaritsa’s inverted statue connected to those inverted statues in the story?
Or was it that once he touched the Statue of the Seven, he would overturn some existing order?
Slowly withdrawing his hand, he decided to remain cautious until he could fully investigate the truth behind all this.
At the very least, he needed to confirm whether the appearance of these Statues of the Seven was related to the Traveler arrival.
