Gateway of Immortality-Chapter 468: The Hidden Moon Landscape Scroll
Chapter 468: The Hidden Moon Landscape Scroll
The sect leader of Yuanshen Sect hadn’t arrived, but these three were not to be underestimated either. The handsome youth was at least in the Fake Core Realm, while the old man and the plain-robed youth were undoubtedly Golden Core experts.
Qin Sang’s eyes flickered uncertainly. He couldn’t tell whether Granny Jing had deliberately dragged him into this, or if it was merely coincidence that they happened to arrive just as the three from Yuanshen Sect entered.
Qin Sang would rather believe it was unintentional on Granny Jing’s part.
Having failed to retreat in time and now face-to-face with the three, there was no way he could stay uninvolved.
Let alone the fact that the Star-Controlling Elder had already shown killing intent. If even one of these three escaped alive, Qin Sang would have no way to clear his name.
He would become an enemy of a Spiritual Infant powerhouse, as well as Yuanshen Sect, one of the Eight Major Sects.
Worse still, for conspiring with Granny Jing to infiltrate Zhitian Peak, he might even be labeled a traitor by the entire Small Cold Domain.
Any of those consequences would be unbearable.
It seemed there was only one path left...
"You dare speak so insolently of the sect leader?! Who are you?!"
The Star-Controlling Elder shouted coldly, his face grim as he fixed a penetrating gaze on Granny Jing.
The two youths beside him were likewise furious, prepared to lunge forward, only to be stopped by the elder’s raised hand.
Granny Jing’s tone and bearing clearly carried hostile intent, making the Star-Controlling Elder feel an ominous foreboding, and he became highly vigilant.
Qin Sang grew more suspicious. Granny Jing is so mysterious that even the Star-Controlling Elder doesn't recognize her. Can she truly be a Spiritual Infant cultivator?
He had no idea what kind of grudge she bore against Leng Yuntian that would drive her to risk herself and meticulously plan this assassination inside Zhitian Peak.
With a faint sweep of her brows, Granny Jing ignored the elder’s interrogation and paid no mind to the handsome youth. Her gaze landed calmly on the old man and the plain-robed youth. "Star-Controlling Elder. Yu Shanting. Two elders of Yuanshen Sect and Leng Yuntian’s left and right hands. Since you are so loyal to him, then repay his debts in his stead. I trust you’ll have no complaints."
"Arrogant!"
"Seeking death!"
The three from Yuanshen Sect roared in fury.
The Star-Controlling Elder’s white hair flew wildly as his silver robe billowed, stirring up a violent wind. Rising into the air amid flying dust and stones, he transformed into a patch of starry sky, brilliant with celestial light.
This silver robe was clearly an astra. From his position on the edge of the plaza, Qin Sang couldn’t determine its grade.
Because the Star-Controlling Elder’s cultivation was suppressed to the Fake Core Realm, he couldn’t unleash the astra’s full power.
Even so, the robe was formidable. The starlight enveloped the entire plaza without leaving a single gap, yet it carefully avoided the outer barriers.
As a famed late-stage Core Formation cultivator, the Star-Controlling Elder clearly had a wealth of combat experience. With a glance, he had judged that the plaza’s outer barriers were not to be trifled with.
Under the starry illusion, the elder raised one hand and stirred the stars.
In an instant, myriad starlights blazed and converged into a dazzling pillar of light, brimming with murderous intent. It plummeted from the heavens, aiming straight for Granny Jing.
From a glimpse, one could see the whole.
Qin Sang had witnessed Golden Core battles before, but few cultivators displayed such ease and overwhelming presence. The Star-Controlling Elder’s true strength must be terrifying.
Meanwhile, the plain-robed youth named Yu Shanting wore a somber expression. Above his head floated a massive bronze bell, its interior swirling with violet energy, its surface glowing golden, reflecting the surrounding starlight.
Boom!
The purple energy inside the bell churned violently. A deafening toll rang out, shaking the soul. Even Qin Sang’s heart thudded hard in response, making him feel faintly unwell.
Whoosh!
The bell’s toll sent out visible sound waves, surging together with a blast of violet qi, forming a thousand-layered tidal wave. It clashed evenly with the Star-Controlling Elder’s pillar of light.
Though their cultivation was suppressed to the Fake Core Realm, their astras were not restricted. They could still deploy their own astras, and while weakened, their power still far surpassed that of ordinary artifacts.
Compared to them, the handsome youth’s sword qi seemed feeble and insignificant, completely overshadowed by the two astras.
Faced with this triple onslaught, Granny Jing’s gaze remained calm. She raised a single jade finger and gently pointed skyward. A scroll flew from her fingertip.
The scroll spun rapidly, growing larger and larger until it extended to three chi in length. It unfurled slowly in mid-air.
The Hidden Moon Landscape Scroll revealed itself before all eyes.
Within the scroll unfolded a vast landscape. The brushwork was exquisite—an absolute masterpiece, brimming with divine artistry. Clouds and mist rolled endlessly across the mountains and rivers, and within the boundless sea of clouds hung a solitary moon.
Yet it wasn’t the bright moon of the night sky—glowing like a silver disk—but a subtle, hidden moon, outlined only in a few simple strokes, barely visible at all.
The sun had not yet set, but the moon had begun to rise.
That seemingly inconspicuous hidden moon suddenly shone brightly the moment the scroll fully unfurled. It transformed into a true radiant moon which rose from the painting, slowly lifting into the air.
The moon blocked the impact of the bronze bell, resisted the falling starlight, and soared upward with unstoppable momentum until it became embedded within the starry sky conjured by the silver robe.
The luminous moon became the focal point, and all the myriad stars paled in comparison.
"Who exactly are you?!"
The Star-Controlling Elder's eyes were filled with shock as he couldn’t help but ask once more.
Granny Jing gave no response. She simply raised her left hand and took out a wooden carving.
Caw!
A crisp cry rang out as a Luan bird soared from her palm. Its wings stirred the air as it flew straight toward the sword qi launched by the handsome youth. The Luan opened its beak and spat out a streak of azure qi, striking the sword qi head-on—both forces clashing and extinguishing each other.
But the Luan only grew faster, like an arrow loosed from a bowstring, streaking directly toward the youth.
Sensing something unusual about the Luan, Yu Shanting flashed in front of the youth to block its path. The bronze bell vibrated once more, its chime echoing as a vicious beast emerged from the swirling violet mist. It was a beast resembling a Qilin[1], fierce and menacing.
Roar!
The beast let out an enraged bellow.
Its purple soundwaves merged with the vibrations of the bell, forming a colossal wave even more powerful than before. It surged forward and clashed with the incoming Luan.
The Luan raised its noble head high. A flicker of disdain flashed in its intelligent eyes. With a flap of its wings, it suddenly vanished in place, leaving behind only flecks of glowing azure light.
In the next instant, it reappeared above the beast’s head. With a backward rake of its talons, it tore through the creature’s skull.
With a whimper, the beast dropped dead. Its rampant roar was cut off in an instant. Its body twitched violently before abruptly vanishing along with the rolling waves of sound.
But the Luan wasn’t finished. Like a streak of lightning, it changed course mid-air and lunged straight for Yu Shanting.
Yu Shanting’s expression darkened. He swiftly formed a complex hand seal. The bronze bell spun rapidly, releasing three streams of violet qi.
This time, they didn’t take the shape of a beast. Instead, they formed into a violet blade, brimming with murderous intent, slashing straight toward the Luan’s nape in a streak of purple light.
At the same time, Yu Shanting shot a cold glance at Granny Jing and shouted toward the handsome youth, "I’ll take care of this demonic bird. Go assist the Grand Elder!"
The handsome youth was the weakest among them, far inferior to the other three masters. But since everyone’s cultivation was restricted to the Foundation Building Realm, even he could prove useful as a distraction; it would enough to force their opponent to split her attention.
