Chapter 44 - Role Play

"Arthur Ashe," he said, a massive smirk dancing on his face. "Register me as Arthur Ashe."

This chapter is updat𝙚d by freeweɓnovel.cøm.

Noa had a weird idea.

He wanted to beat Arthur with the same name.

It was childish but interesting, nonetheless.

Imagining how the class and Arthur would react when they met him also told him not to change his mind.

Tifa nodded.

She didn't care about his choice, dialed a number, and messaged an instruction.

'She is talking to Caroline,' Noa guessed that the mysterious woman would register him as a new student.

It wouldn't take her long, and after exiting the car, he looked at the building.

The Arcane Academy was prestigious within the New Glory City, but compared to the rest of the world, it was passable at best.

Well, the fact that both protagonists and Noa studied there should mean something.

Noa didn't waste time and strolled inside.

He had changed his smelly clothes in the car, and thanks to Tifa's artefact, he was feeling clean and refreshed.

Because this was the day when the studies resumed, the building was flooded with people.

Not minding students, teachers, and parents, Noa found the stairs.

He aimed to reach his new classroom while experience from the game guided the way.

Climbing six floors' worth of stairs would have exhausted the old Noa, but he walked cheerfully, remembering his old days at school.

The painful memories of Noa and the bullying he experienced also haunted him.

Yet Noa knew it was nothing but a past he could easily fight back.

He was strong as ever, and some weak-ass brats didn't scare him.

The marbles of the academy, the luxurious halls, and art pieces created a wonderful atmosphere to put any student in a suitable mood.

Even Noa wasn't an exception.

'This is better than the crappy graphics I have seen.'

He put his knuckles on the door and softly knocked.

"Come on in," a soft voice called out, permitting him to enter.

Being the first one to arrive had its own advantages, and entering the almost empty room, he saw a familiar female teacher.

"Ooh. It's a new student. Good thing you are punctual," Elowen said, pointing him to take a seat. "I was told about your transfer last minute, and it's a bit hectic here."

Her blonde hair was tied in a ponytail, explaining why she was so popular among the students.

Elowen read his file and exclaimed,

"Arthur Ashe? But we have another student with the same name. Is it some kind of mistake?"

"No, ma'am," Noa corrected.

"You mean... you are Arthur Ashe as well? What a coincidence."

She tried to hide her confusion with her smile, but it didn't escape his radar.

As Elowen wondered about this unusual situation, Noa's other classmates arrived as well, taking their designated seats.

Some of them noticed his presence.

The class wasn't that big, hosting about 20 desks.

Its modern outlook with screens all around gave Noa the impression that he was in some kind of sci-fi world, but he knew it was nothing like that.

Slowly, other students arrived, filling the empty seats.

All of them greeted Elowen and observed a new guy, their interest piqued.

Arthur was the last one to reach the classroom, looking rugged and exhausted, with a frown on his face.

He noticed Noa's presence—a wave of anger trembled in his eyes.

'The poor guy,' Noa mocked silently. 'He definitely went for the Will of the Many and couldn't find it.'

The anger on Arthur's face and his unkempt condition were proof of that, but barely anyone paid any attention to him.

As for Noa, he looked proud.

He had already activated the artefact, and its effect prevailed.

But Arthur's real misery was on the way.

It began when Elowen closed the door and started the lesson.

However, she called out to Noa to introduce him to the rest of the class.

"This is our new transfer student. Funnily enough, his full name is Arthur Ashe, and I hope you can get along with him."

Fuss and confusion surged through the listeners.

But it lasted only for a moment.

Just because their classmate shared the name with nobody, they wouldn't lose their shit.

Yet, all eyes moved in both of their direction, giving Arthur the attention he tried so hard to hide from.

Noa wasn't like that.

He had no intention of hiding like a rabbit in a world where wolves couldn't catch up to him.

The only thing he would conceal was his immortality and identity.

Everything else would be his weapon to gain even more strength and make Arthur's life even more difficult.

And it worked splendidly.

The boy was already in a foul mood.

Seeing Noa's face and guessing that he was using a fake identification worsened his condition.

Of course, Noa didn't care about it and listened to Elowen.

"As you can see, this is our new class for all the students in your age group. Everyone else failed to awaken," she explained.

"However, this is not the end road. Just because you gained magical powers, it doesn't make you a better human. It means responsibilities that carry danger. None of you are ready for it, but this place will prepare you with the best of our abilities. Still, remember that Abysses are unexplained and mysterious, and no amount of preparation is enough."

Everyone, including Noa, listened to her speech carefully.

She didn't mention the death of two students.

Noa Osborn and Klaus Stark were dead to the public, but there was no need to lament their death.

Velrox was an unforgiving planet.

And Noa knew it would get even more dangerous.

After the teacher ended her opening speech, she announced,

"We are going down to the training room. Instructors will explain about the Eclipsed Tournament, and you will start your first practice."

Then the students rose from their seats and walked down the floors to begin something everyone was passionate about.

Even Noa's heart pounded.

But his brows twitched when someone forcefully touched his shoulder.
