Game World: I Can Share Talents-Chapter 44: Tribute to the Legendary T0
Westheid waved his hand and said,
"Since Her Highness Reiya has already sworn her oath, let’s hurry. Open the treasury and take as many materials as you can."
’We don’t have to return it anyway.’
"...Yes, we’ll see to it at once."
Tudor and the other Giant Dragon Execution Officers had no grounds for refusal. Someone of the noble Divine Ancestor’s True Blood had sworn an oath to Star Abyss Wings! Were they really going to play dumb?!
That would be blatant insubordination, practically a death sentence! It would be perfectly reasonable to be executed on the spot.
Besides, this was a rather plum assignment. Not only did it show deference to Reiya, but the double compensation also allowed them to curry favor with Scorching Wings.
Thus, the Giant Dragon Execution Officers scrambled over each other to leave, rushing to unseal the treasury and claim the credit that had just fallen into their laps.
"Brother, is this really all right?"
Yolanda moved closer to Westheid and whispered, "To swear an oath directly to Star Abyss Wings... isn’t that inappropriate for Her Highness Reiya?"
Westheid stated confidently, "Don’t worry. The ’jailed’ Dragon won’t have any objections."
If this were reality, Westheid would never have let Reiya swear an oath to the Dragon God.
Even if Reiya wasn’t a follower of Star Abyss Wings, her bloodline alone was enough to be detected by the Dragon God. If a carelessly sworn oath was used against her, it would be an absolute mess.
After all, Star Abyss Wings had merely lost contact and vanished from the Supreme Heaven; its fall wasn’t confirmed. It could return at any moment.
But within this Secret Realm, isolated from reality, there was no need to consider any Celestial God other than the Radiant Holy Tree.
This historical snapshot, clipped out by the Radiant Holy Tree, was a perfect replica of the real world, and Westheid had no idea just how vast it was.
Was it just the Kepal Plain? Or did it encompass the entire known world?
No one could say for sure, but Westheid was certain of one thing: the Secret Realm definitely did not include any other Celestial Gods.
The Radiant Holy Tree wasn’t powerful enough to clip out other Celestial Gods as well. The great existences of the Supreme Heaven were in a relationship of both cooperation and counterbalance; the difference in their Tiers wasn’t that great.
Without the constraints of other Celestial Gods, the Radiant Holy Tree wouldn’t even need to replicate historical fragments. It could just send the Trial Takers directly into the past and rewrite history at will. Such is the power of a Celestial God who holds authority over the world!
Therefore, in this Secret Realm Trial, both Star Abyss Wings and the Venerable Master of the Azure Heaven could be treated as nothing more than background decoration. What should have been a solemn oath sworn to the heavens could now be used as a tool.
"Brother, you really are... an expert at finding loopholes."
Yolanda sighed after hearing Westheid’s brief and concise explanation.
The black-haired, purple-eyed young man raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean, ’finding loopholes’? If the Radiant Holy Tree didn’t patch it, it’s a game mechanic! What’s wrong with making good use of game mechanics? If you don’t like it, don’t play!"
"Tsk."
Yolanda clicked her tongue softly and looked out the window at the Giant Dragons diligently preparing the ritual. Even though they were just NPCs in the Trial—and Demon Dragons, at that—she couldn’t help but feel a flicker of pity watching them being played so masterfully by Westheid.
"RUMBLE—"
A muffled rumbling came from the furnace erected in the High Court. As crimson patterns spread across the ground, the roars from within the furnace grew louder and louder, until a soft glow enveloped the entire High Court.
The essence of a blood sacrifice ritual was, in fact, an absolute Energy Conversion Technique.
It didn’t necessarily have to be as gruesome as sacrificing living people; anything rich in energy could be used as a sacrificial material.
However, the conversion rate for this energy was appallingly low. Using legitimate materials would mean losing one’s shirt, with less than one percent of the effect being retained.
Thus, performing this ritual typically required a massive amount of materials that were both cheap and high in value.
And the cheapest miracle in this world is life itself.
The lives of mortals were the most suitable material, which is why this simple Energy Conversion Technique earned the name "blood sacrifice."
Without harvesting hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of mortal lives, they had no choice but to substitute with precious Extraordinary Materials.
The Giant Dragon Execution Officers opened their master’s treasury and brought out one priceless material after another, presenting them before the Dragon Tower’s floor-to-ceiling windows to await Reiya’s instructions.
Regardless of the item, Reiya would just give a slight nod, signaling for it to be tossed into the furnace.
This furnace, which had been forged by Scorching Wings before its departure, possessed permissions granted by the Legendary True Dragon, linking it directly to the Dragon Tower’s Magic Pool. The Spirit Veins of the entire Kepal Plain were at its disposal.
"THUMP THUMP THUMP—"
Each time a treasure was dropped into the furnace to be rendered down, it would let out a colossal bang, sending echoes reverberating through the air.
This act of wanton wastefulness made the Giant Dragon Execution Officers’ hands tremble. If Reiya hadn’t sworn an oath to Star Abyss Wings—essentially signing an IOU—they would never have dared to squander their master’s treasury like this. This was the culmination of nearly a thousand years of accumulation!
Westheid pressed his face to the window, marveling. "Those things... Thousand-Year Cold Lotus, Tears of Fallen Stars, Deep Red Beverage... Good heavens, that’s all top-shelf stuff. Scorching Wings really knew how to hide its private stash."
Reiya nodded in agreement. "A Legendary Powerhouse, and a Legendary Dragon Species in possession of the entire Kepal Plain, no less. The wealth it amassed over several hundred years of relentless hoarding is truly astonishing. Many of these materials have long since vanished from the world."
"And now it’s all ours. If we toss all these precious materials into the furnace, the ritual’s potency should be enough to grant us a considerable boost in strength for this Trial."
Westheid was quite satisfied. Although the power gained through such an unorthodox ritual was fundamentally unreliable—effective only within the Trial—he knew its actual quality couldn’t compare to that of a true high-Tier Transcendent.
At best, you could say that in terms of raw numbers and power output, they would barely be considered in the same tier.
Yolanda asked quizzically, "Brother, I know the bloodline Talent you awakened can handle direct infusion, but what about Her Highness Reiya? Can she as well?"
Reversed Celestial Spirit!
The Withered Glory Sun Talent was supposed to belong exclusively to Reiya; Westheid had simply been the one to ’pay tribute’ to the legendary Tier T0 Talent first.
However, when it came to experience in using it, Westheid was actually the more proficient one.
"It’s fine. The energy infused by this ritual is quite gentle. Reiya and I can both see it through to the end. Even you, Yolanda, can try to absorb a little."
Yolanda nodded after Westheid spoke.
She still didn’t know the reason why, but throughout the Secret Realm Trial so far, Westheid’s judgment had never once been wrong. Even Yolanda, who was habitually critical, no longer questioned her brother’s decisions.
Only after the Giant Dragon Execution Officers had emptied the entire treasury and thrown every last material into the ritual’s furnace did they disperse to the periphery to begin channeling the blood sacrifice ritual. For this type of ceremony, preparing the materials was the most tedious part; the rest could be executed with swift efficiency.
Tudor nodded to the Silver-haired Dragon Lady and said,
"Your Highness, please come to the center of the ritual. It will begin to take effect shortly."
So Reiya and the other two also moved to the center of the High Court, standing in the very heart of the Technique. This earned them sidelong glances from the surrounding Giant Dragon Execution Officers, but none of them said a word.
Reiya couldn’t possibly absorb so much energy alone; it was understandable for the Star Fury Power to take a share.
