Game Invasion Era: Rise from Binding the Goblin King!-Chapter 157: Heart of the Ocean, Career Advancement
"You have a treasure?" George heard the turtle’s words and hesitated a little.
He had originally wanted to kill this thing and finish his Frost Keeper career advancement.
But the turtle was actually pretty tough. Its defense was surprisingly strong. Even a god-level warrior might have trouble with it.
"I do, and it’s an Artifact gear. It’s perfect for you. Let me out, or I’ll be roasted alive..." The turtle was scared, panicking in the fire, even using water magic. But this was a Forbidden Spell, not normal fire. Water magic couldn’t put it out.
George hesitated for a moment, then waved his hand. A path opened in the fire.
The turtle didn’t hesitate. It rushed out of the fire, fell to the ground with a plop, and took big breaths. Its body was blackened from the flames, looking really messy.
George looked at it and said coldly, "You can live, but you have to obey me."
The Artifact gear was strong, but George didn’t care. Eliex could make God-Making gear, and he could make it in bulk.
"Impossible!" The Corrupted Giant Turtle didn’t hesitate. It refused right away.
It had lived for countless years. It would never bow to anyone.
"Old fool, don’t be stubborn. The master even looks at you, that’s your luck," Obsidian Wraith said, coming closer now that there was no danger.
"You have no choice. Either die or obey," George said coldly, not giving it a chance to speak.
The turtle stayed silent. It was scared of dying. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have hidden when its world was destroyed.
And it had no real goals. It just wanted to live, even in a place like The Chaos Battlefield.
"What do I get in return?" The Corrupted Giant Turtle asked, not wanting to die.
George said coldly, "I don’t know, but it’s better than being a coward all your life."
It sighed in frustration and said, "Fine, I’ll obey you."
George nodded in satisfaction. But the turtle was level 90, and to make a contract, George needed to be level 80. He had enough experience, but hadn’t finished his advancement quest yet.
"Do you know if there are any Abyss bosses here? Level 80 and above, with SSS tier stage?" He asked. Since he wasn’t killing the turtle, he had to find another monster to fight.
If not, he could go to the Abyss Realm after leaving the battlefield and kill a boss that fit the requirements.
The Corrupted Giant Turtle replied, "Yes. I was sleeping in a desert before. A big snake pushed me here. That snake is also a 90-level SSS-tier boss. It fits."
"Same level as you? Can it threaten you?" George was curious. He had seen how strong this turtle’s defense was.
"Ah," the turtle sighed, looking helpless. "Of course I’m not afraid of normal monsters. But that snake was born to beat me. Even if I hide in my shell, it could get in and poison me. It can’t kill me, but it sure makes me suffer. So I ran here."
That made sense. George looked at the turtle’s shell, which was strong but not completely sealed. He said, "Take me there. I’ll help you get revenge."
"Okay," the turtle nodded without hesitation. It had seen George’s strength. Killing that snake would be easy for him.
"Master, this is the treasure I promised you," it said, pulling out a light blue pendant from its mouth. It still had sticky saliva on it.
George took it off the ground and rubbed it on the dirt before picking it up and looking at it with curiosity.
[Heart of the Ocean: Artifact gear, +10,000 to four basic stats
Effect One: Magic cost reduced by 50%
Effect Two: Regains 10% of magic per second]
George’s eyes lit up. This pendant was actually a real treasure.
The stats were simple. Each of the four basic stats got +10,000, which was normal. The best part was the two effects-cutting magic cost in half and regenerating 10% magic every second.
That meant he could now cast Forbidden Spells without worrying about magic at all.
"This thing is good. I’ll take it," George said happily and took it.
The turtle was proud. It said, "Master, climb on. I’ll take you to kill that big snake."
George nodded and jumped onto the turtle’s shell, which was like a mountain. Obsidian Wraith also climbed on.
That made him a little upset, but he said nothing.
The turtle moved fast. Even though it wasn’t as fast as George’s flying, it was way faster than they could walk.
...
Without realizing it, a week had passed. Obsidian Wraith got impatient and said, "Old guy, is your old nest that far?"
The Corrupted Giant Turtle turned and glared at him, then looked at George and said, "Master, we’re there."
The area was still gray and foggy. In the distance, a ruined desert was barely visible.
"Hmm?" George was surprised. He pulled out a map-Skyforge Empire’s treasure map.
He checked it carefully. The direction the map showed was also in this desert.
"Turtle, have you been in this desert all along? Did you find anything special?" George asked curiously.
According to the map, the Skyforge Empire treasure was deep in this desert. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The Corrupted Giant Turtle shook its head. "Master, I don’t know much about this place. I’ve been sleeping underground in the desert and don’t know of any special areas."
George was a little disappointed and didn’t say anything else.
This desert was huge. The map only showed a general location, and it was easy to get lost here. Finding the treasure spot was hard.
The wind howled. The turtle stepped into the desert. The sand was soft, and every step sank deep into the ground.
"Master, it’s coming!" The turtle felt the sand moving under its feet and warned quickly.
Dust flew up. A giant snake suddenly shot out.
It was a huge yellow snake, over ten zhang long. It also had a pair of wings on its back.
"Old fool, you really don’t know when to die. You came back here again!" The snake raised its body slightly, looked at the turtle, flicked its tongue, and said coldly.
"I’m not fighting you this time. Master, this one’s yours," the turtle knew it couldn’t win, so it quickly asked for George’s help.
The snake raised its body high, then noticed the two on the turtle’s back.
"Haha, you brought help. Don’t think those two can beat me," it saw George and Obsidian Wraith were not high level, and sneered.
George didn’t want to waste words. He vanished in a flash and appeared in front of the snake. He clenched his fist and hit its vital point.
Boom!
A heavy sound rang out. The snake fell to the ground, rolled in pain.
"Despicable human, you’re asking for death!"
The snake hissed, its huge body slithering quickly through the desert. In an instant, its massive body wrapped tightly around George.
"Haha, you’re just a weak human, and you dare to step in for others? Today, I’ll tear you apart!"
The snake was confident, its huge body slowly tightening, trying to crush George to death.
A feeling of suffocation came, along with the sound of cracking bones.
George grimaced in pain and quickly activated the Diamond Scripture.
A faint golden light surrounded him, and he blocked the snake’s tight grip.
He felt relieved, then gave a cold laugh and mocked, "You do have some skill, but that’s about it."
"How is that possible?" The snake’s eyes widened in shock. Its slit pupils stared at George, its tongue flicking wildly. It used all its strength, but it felt like it was squeezing a huge, hard rock-completely useless.
This human was strange.
"Then I’ll just swallow you!" It said, opening its huge mouth. A terrible stench filled the air.
George quickly held his breath. He didn’t have time to play with this thing. He then activated the Celestial Pole Scripture.
"Open!" He let out a low roar. His muscles bulged, and the snake felt a terrifying force hit it. A terrible pain shot through its body.
It began to doubt-was it squeezing this human, or was it the other way around?
In the pain, it loosened its grip.
Then George jumped up. The snake only saw a fist growing bigger and bigger in front of its eyes.
Boom!
The snake let out a painful scream. A fang flew out, and its huge head crashed to the ground.
Before it could catch its breath, it felt a heavy weight on its head. George was already standing on its massive head, and his fists rained down like rain.
Boom boom!
The heavy sound echoed. The snake suffered greatly. It tried to beg for mercy, but its words were cut short by the fists. It had no way to fight back.
Brutal!
Beside him, the Corrupted Giant Turtle watched the scene in shock. It felt a chill run down its spine. At the same time, it secretly felt lucky that it had pledged loyalty to George. Otherwise, its fate wouldn’t be much better than this snake.
Gradually, the punches stopped. The snake collapsed to the ground, its huge head a pile of mush.
Same level 90, same SSS-tier stage, but this snake’s defense was far worse than the turtle.
[Defeated Desert Serpent Boss, Experience +900,000]
[You have completed the Frost Keeper advancement quest. Frost Keeper advances to 8th rank, stage upgraded to SSR tier. Basic stats +5000, all skills level up, Taming slots +2. Can tame monsters no more than 20 levels below you.]
[Detected a suitable pet nearby: Corrupted Giant Turtle, level 90, stage SSS tier. High cultivation value.]
...
The message flashed.
George was stunned. His Frost Keeper had advanced again, and now he had two more Taming slots. Also, the level limit for taming had been raised to no more than 20 levels below his own.
He could now capture the Corrupted Giant Turtle.
"High cultivation value?"
George looked at the message in surprise. He had never gotten such a high rating when he tamed Lilia.
It seemed this turtle’s potential was on par with the Golden Flame Dragon.
George picked up the snake’s body and looked at the Corrupted Giant Turtle. He said coldly, "Sign the master-servant contract."
