Chapter 196: The Gathering Of Empires

[Glory Flag Competition, Present.]

The massive runic barriers enclosing the island thrummed with ancient magic, barely containing the collective battle auras of the continent’s most lethal prodigies.

"Now, let’s welcome the Dragon Empire Academy, The Dragon Academy!!" Davy yelled, as 249 students matched forward, all in black uniform, with red patterns on the sides, with a red dragon head engraved on the back. Their footsteps fell in perfect, synchronized rhythm, shaking the reinforced stadium floor, yet the glaring absence of their 250th member left a gaping hole in their formation.

Leading them were the Invincible four, Hitachi, Rose, Austin and Aurelia, standing at both side, the middle, which should have their Captain was empty... They stopped on the right side of the sword academy students, their expression fixed ahead. Despite their stoic faces, the pressure from the Sword Academy’s overwhelming levels was suffocating.

"Wow, the Dragon empire students are also strong, but the strongest there is only Lv101, while the sword academy students have four Lv200." Someone said in the audience, pulling up a low-tier appraisal skill to read the golden numbers hovering over the vanguard. Compared to the Level 250 monster leading the Sword Academy, it was a pitiful display.

"That young man is known as Hitachi Azul!! He’s the last survivor of the Azul clan massacre." Another audience from the dragon empire said, referencing the dark, bloody history that had wiped out one of the most feared bloodlines in the realm.

"Wow!! How powerful is his celestial eyes?!" A lady asked in surprised. The Celestial Eyes were a mythical ocular skill, known to perceive the flow of energy and shatter illusions, a cheat-like ability that defied standard levels.

"I don’t know, we will see in this competition, but where is their Captain?" Another asked, voicing the confusion rippling through the tens of thousands of spectators. An academy entering the Glory Flag without a vanguard leader was practically conceding defeat.

"Also strange." Davy stared at them, and nodded, the Dragon Academy don’t even match the Sword academy Aura, so he moved to the last, keeping the grand spectacle moving to avoid a dip in the crowd’s energy.

"Now!! Let’s welcome the Eagle empire!! Eagle academy!!"

Everyone turned their heads to the entrance again, watching as the eagle academy 200 students matched forward, leading them was a beautiful lady, Mirabella knows too well. She has long blonde hair and blue eyes, a bright smile was on her face.

This was Eve, one of the leaders Mirabella met in the first server. Her bright, diplomatic smile hid a ruthless, calculating mind of a killer.

"Wow!! She is so beautiful!!" Someone yelled in awe, staring at Eve, caught in the passive charm effect radiating from her high Charisma stat.

"I can’t believe it! She is Lv150!! And a warrior bloodline!!" Another added, stunned by the juxtaposition of her elegant appearance and her brutal, close-quarters combat class.

"With the beauty, she can get anything." The third added, completely underestimating the blood and sweat required to reach Level 150 before graduation.

"Well, the Eagle empire might not be that powerful, but they surely have a Beauty with them."

The Eagle empire, all dressed in red uniforms stopped on the left side of the sword empire, their eyes fixed ahead, waiting for Davy words. The three academies now stood in a tense triangle, their combined auras clashing invisibly in the center of the arena.

"Wow!! This is getting interesting!!" Davy smiled, as he moved his gaze on the 750 students before him." Before he could say anything, a voice sounded in his mind. It was a direct telepathic transmission from the VIP box above—an unarguable command from the ruling powers seeking immediate entertainment.

Davy waited for a moment, and after getting the instructions, he nodded his head, his professional demeanor flawless.

"Before we start the first round, there will be a friendly match between Captains!!" He yelled, his words stunning not only the students, but the whole audience. The tournament brackets were strictly regulated; an impromptu exhibition match was unheard of.

"A friendly match between Captains?! This is new!"

"Yes!! Who would win here?"

"I have no idea, I haven’t even seen the Dragon academy’s Captain, who should I bet on?"

"Why are you all lost?! Of course, the Sword academy Captain will win this friendly battle!" A man from the sword empire yelled, his nationalistic pride fueled by Jessica’s absurd Level 250 advantage.

"No way!! The dragon empire will win!" A lady from the dragon Empire yelled, refusing to back down despite the mathematical odds stacked against them.

High above the roaring masses, in the reserved guild seating. Yakima moved her gaze around the place, she was surrounded by her guild members, Sofia, was right beside her.

"Guild leader, You are searching for her?" Sofia asked in a low voice, noticing Yakima’s eyes darting across the Dragon Empire’s roster.

"Not just her, Both the Princess and my father aren’t here." Yakima answered in a dark tone. The absence of Master Teacher Hayatobi was far more alarming than a missing student.

’Could something have happened? No, that’s impossible, with my father there, who can harm them?’ She thought, turning her head to the Arena, trying to quell the rising dread in her chest. The Devil Cult’s recent movements had been too erratic to ignore.

"Captains!! Please step forward and listen to the rules." Davy said, gesturing to the captains of the three academies to step forward. The arena floor rumbled slightly as the isolation barriers activated, preparing to contain God-level shockwaves.

Jessica from the Sword academy stepped forward without hesitation, entering the arena field. Her white hair trailed behind her.

Eve also stepped forward, her smile still on her face, and lastly...

Everyone turned to the dragon academy in confusion, even the students were also confused. The empty space at the front of their formation felt like a glaring weakness, a target painted on their collective backs.

’Where is Big sister?’ Carl thought, moving his gaze around. She was the one who had given them the Awakening Stones; she was their unshakable pillar.

"Why is she late?" Grace whispered to him, her hands tightly gripping her uniform.

"I don’t know, but she will be here." Carl added, his faith in Mirabella absolute.

The invincible four of the dragon empire looked at one another, and they nodded at Hitachi. As the strongest present, the burden of leadership naturally fell to him.

"Seems your captain isn’t here, what about the Vice Captain?" Davy asked, staring at them, trying to salvage the protocol of the event.

Hitachi stared at the group, who were gesturing for him to step out, but he didn’t move, Hayatobi didn’t mention any Vice Captain, and he wasn’t going to proclaim himself as one. His discipline was ironclad; until the Master Teacher or Mirabella gave the order, he would hold the line, refusing to usurp a title he hadn’t earned. The awkward silence stretched, the tension snapping tight.

Suddenly, the ambient energy in the stadium completely warped. The clouds high above the open-air arena tore apart violently, a spatial rift ripping open with a deafening sonic boom.

"Who said I won’t make it?"

".....?!" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

A voice, cold, absolute, and carrying the heavy pressure of a true apex predator, echoed off every stone in the arena. Everyone raised their heads to the sky, their eyes wide in shock and disbelief, watching as a figure plummeted from the heavens like a meteor.
