Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 479 - 418: Upholding Justice
"Princess, give me a child, please..."
The young man gazed at her imploringly, unbridled desire burning in his eyes.
Sang Luo could feel his intense craving. Her heart hammered in her chest. She took a deep breath and smiled reassuringly. "Okay!"
The young man’s eyes lit up with joy, but in the next instant, just as he lowered his guard to press closer to her, Sang Luo brought the edge of her hand down hard on the back of his neck. With a muffled grunt, his already feverish body went limp, and he collapsed, unconscious.
Sang Luo quickly wrapped an arm around the young man’s waist, letting him slump against her to keep him from falling. ’Thank goodness I learned some self-defense from Lan Cang back when I had nothing better to do,’ she thought, relieved. ’When my Talent Skill is unusable, crude methods are the most effective.’
She helped him onto the bed and pulled the covers over him.
His face was still flushed and scalding hot. It seemed his fever had worsened.
Sang Luo sat on the edge of the bed and gently took his hand. For a moment, her feelings were a tangled mess she couldn’t begin to unravel.
Soon, a knock came at the door. The witch doctor from the Princess Mansion arrived to examine Yun Qi. It had started as a common cold, which was nothing serious for a male Beastman; they could usually recover without medicine. However, this Concubine had somehow been exposed to extreme cold. The damp chill had settled deep within him, developing into a much more severe ailment.
The witch doctor prescribed some medicine and gave detailed instructions: the patient must take his doses on time, his physical and emotional well-being must be carefully monitored, and he absolutely could not be exposed to the cold again anytime soon.
After seeing the witch doctor out, Sang Luo called Kong over. "What was your master up to last night?"
Kong stammered, "My master doesn’t like to have personal attendants. Ever since his eyes healed, I’ve had much less to do. I went to bed early last night, so I don’t know what he did... But when he returned this morning, he was soaking wet. His clothes were completely drenched, dripping Ice Water onto the floor. It was like... like he’d spent the entire night in the river..."
Sang Luo squeezed her eyes shut, then snapped them open. "Stupid fox! Such a drama queen!" she cursed.
’This little fox really knows how to torment himself! He seems so gentle, thoughtful, and understanding. I never imagined he was the obsessive type who could be ruthless even to himself!’
Kong hurriedly explained, "Please, Princess, don’t blame my master. He just missed you too much. For all the days you were away, he couldn’t eat or sleep. Yesterday, the servant Yi Xing even came over to mock him. He said... he said a lot of awful things... My master was provoked into doing this..."
Sang Luo frowned. "I understand. Keep a close eye on him, and don’t let him do anything this foolish again."
"As you command, Princess."
After leaving the Plum Blossom Garden, Sang Luo didn’t return to the main hall. Instead, she went to the rear courtyards, to Qingxiang Courtyard, where Yi Xing resided.
Yi Xing had been delighted when he heard that Yun Qi had fallen gravely ill the night before, feeling a sweet sense of vengeance. But then he heard that the Princess had visited the Plum Blossom Garden that morning, and in a fit of rage, he smashed several vases and jars. He even accidentally shattered a precious vase Princess Ji Wan had gifted him years ago.
Yi Xing panicked and ordered a servant to clean up the fragments on the floor, but then he heard an attendant’s voice from outside.
"Greetings, Princess!"
Yi Xing’s panic intensified. Just as he was about to step out and greet her, a set of steady footsteps preceded him into the room.
"Pri-Princess, what brings you here?" Yi Xing hurried to the front of a screen, his smile tinged with panic, the curve of his lips strained.
Sang Luo glanced at him, a smirk on her lips. "Oh? Is my presence unwelcome, servant Yi Xing?"
Yi Xing felt a pang of guilt. "Of course not. This servant spends his days alone, wishing on every star in the sky for the Princess to visit his chambers. You haven’t come in so long. You have no idea how much I’ve missed you."
"And yet, you don’t seem as happy to see me as you claim."
Sang Luo’s gaze shifted to the space behind him. Yi Xing’s face turned white, and he trembled, trying to block her view.
Sang Luo strode past him and saw the shattered vase on the floor.
She remembered this one. It was a glazed, blue-and-white patterned vase that Ji Wan had given Yi Xing years ago, and it was worth a fortune.
Princess Ji Wan had never held any genuine affection for her servants. If one managed to please her, however, she would reward them with treasures.
But while they were called rewards, the treasures technically still belonged to the Princess Mansion and were only given to the servants to enjoy in name. If one were to be broken, the Princess would seize the opportunity to vent her frustrations.
There was a story about a bed slave who had lost a bracelet she’d gifted him. Rumor had it he’d snuck it out of the mansion to sell. When Princess Ji Wan learned of this, she had him beaten until he was half-paralyzed, then sold him off to Qingfeng Hall.
Yi Xing was skilled in the bedroom arts, having been promoted from bed slave to servant; there was no way he didn’t know this cautionary tale. His face instantly drained of color. His body swayed, and he looked as if he might collapse at any moment. "Princess, I..."
Sang Luo inspected her crimson fingernails. "It seems you don’t appreciate the gifts I give you, Yi Xing."
"N-no, that’s not it..." Yi Xing stammered, terrified.
"Then is it that you look down on the possessions of the Princess Mansion?" Sang Luo asked, her smile widening.
Yi Xing fell to his knees with a THUD.
"Spare me, Princess! I only broke the vase by accident! I didn’t mean to!"
Sang Luo’s brows knitted in anger. With a flick of her sleeve, she said coldly, "A mere servant dares to shatter a gift from this Princess. That is your first offense."
"Offending a Concubine, that is your second!"
"Guards! Effective immediately, strip Yi Xing of his title as servant and expel him from the Princess Mansion!"
Yi Xing collapsed, all the strength gone from his body. He was thrown out of the mansion like a stray dog, forbidden from ever returning.
...
When Yun Qi woke that evening, he heard the news.
Kong was chattering beside him like a little parrot, explaining how the Princess herself had avenged him.
A smile touched Yun Qi’s lips, but then he recalled what happened before he passed out. ’If she really likes me, why wouldn’t she give herself to me?’
’She knows better than anyone how much I want her.’
’I want her so badly I’m going mad.’
Forcibly cutting off his arousal... for a hot-blooded male who had just come of age, it was a torment worse than death.
His expression dimmed. "The Princess is fickle. This isn’t the first time she’s expelled a servant. It wasn’t necessarily for my sake."
"Who’s badmouthing me behind my back?" Sang Luo lifted the curtain and swept into the room, a radiant smile on her face. "Since when was I known for being fickle?"
Kong quickly bowed, both surprised and overjoyed. "You’re here, Princess!"
Yun Qi was stunned. "Princess, I thought you..."
"The witch doctor said you need to rest. I have to keep an eye on you," Sang Luo said, raising an eyebrow. "Besides, I promised to spend the night with you, and I am not a woman who breaks her promises."
They stared at each other, and the air between them grew charged and intimate.
Taking the hint, Kong discreetly excused himself.
In the end, Sang Luo decided to follow her heart. She had to admit this troublesome little fox had captured a piece of it. ’As for everything else,’ she thought, ’that can wait until morning...’
Meanwhile, Yun Rong had been waiting for Sang Luo in the main hall. By dusk, she still hadn’t appeared.
The Princess had only sent an attendant to inform him that something had come up and she wouldn’t be able to see him today, but that he was welcome to stay the night.
