Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 43 - 28: Saving the Golden Lion
Sang Luo hesitated for a moment before running over. Leaning close to the man, she checked if he was breathing. Thank goodness, he wasn’t dead—he was still alive!
His physical injuries weren’t severe, but his entire body was shrouded in Black Qi. This was a symptom of genetic mania, though it was slightly different from an ordinary Beastman’s episode. On closer inspection, it somewhat resembled Caesar’s condition on the warship. ’He seemed to have been poisoned by the Insect Clan then.’
’Did this lion fight the Insect Clan?’
’When Anubia left in such a hurry... could he have been the one she fought?’
’They’re both King Beast Level, so they’d be evenly matched in a fight. And Anubia has a habit of backstabbing...’
’Sigh, to meet twice by chance... I guess it’s fate. And this lion was just trying to protect me, too.’
A pale green energy began to radiate from her front paws, enveloping the man’s body and slowly dispelling the Black Qi.
Duotu awoke from a deep slumber as if from a nightmare, yet his body felt an indescribable sense of relief.
He opened his eyes and looked down to see a small, dusty-gray satin mouse curled up on his chest, fast asleep.
Just as he awoke, the little gray mouse opened its inky-black eyes and stared at him.
He sat up, picking her up by the tail with one hand. Sitting casually on the ground, he propped an elbow on his bent knee. A roguish smile played on his lips. "Why are you staying in your beast form? Not planning on changing back?"
’He quite liked her human form. It was beautiful.’
Sang Luo blushed. ’My clothes were left behind in the Insect Clan palace. If I change back now, I’ll be completely naked...’
Duotu realized what was wrong and tapped the pendant on his necklace.
He took out a jacket and draped it over her.
Sang Luo grabbed the edge of the jacket with her paws and poked her head out, her eyes fixed on the golden pendant around the man’s neck. ’It’s a type of Magic Artifact, refined by a Beastman with Space Talent... But the space inside is tiny, and you can’t control the flow of time. It’s useless for preserving food, only good for storing miscellaneous things like clothes. I’d much rather have a real Space Talent.’
"Turn around!"
The man raised an eyebrow at her but obediently stood up and went behind a tree.
Sometimes, the unseen is what truly stirs the imagination. Hearing the soft rustle of fabric behind him, a rare blush crept up his ears.
Sang Luo shifted into her human form and quickly draped the jacket over herself. She reached back to pull her long hair out from under the collar, letting it cascade down her back and revealing her long, fair neck.
"Are you decent?"
"Mhm."
Only then did he walk over. His eyes, fixed on Sang Luo, visibly brightened.
"You... you’re gorgeous," Duotu stammered, his Adam’s apple bobbing as his heart pounded in his chest.
"Thank you." Sang Luo looked down, smoothing the folds of the jacket. ’I know I’m pretty good-looking.’
"You must be a Beastman from the Western Continent, right? Which region are you from? Do you need me to take you home?"
"There’s no need." Sang Luo shook her head. "Actually, I’m not from the Western Continent. I’m a native female from a nearby tribe. My old tribe was destroyed in a Beast Tide, but I’ve already found a new one to settle in. So, I won’t trouble you."
’Birds of a feather flock together. A King Beast’s friends are probably King Beasts, too.’ Sang Luo grew a little worried. ’What if this blond man knows Caesar? Then the fact that I snuck away would be exposed!’
The man looked a little disappointed. "Well, which tribe are you from? I can still take you back!"
’I’m not sure how the fallout from me killing Tu Zhu has played out. The daughter of the Thousand Elephant Tribe’s Clan Leader seemed to really like him. If I go back rashly, I’ll probably run into trouble.’
’Better to lie low for a while.’
"I’m not in a hurry. I’ll head back in a few days."
"Perfect. I’m not planning to head back to the Western Continent until tomorrow anyway. Why don’t we just make do and spend the night here together? It’s safer with a male around, at least." He sat down right next to her, his furry tail stealthily wrapping around her waist and giving it a gentle caress.
"..." Sang Luo silently glanced at the man’s expectant expression. ’Honestly, right now, neither Star Beasts nor the Insect Clan feel as "dangerous" as the male in front of me.’
Seeing her discomfort, the man stealthily unwrapped his tail. "I’ll go pick some fruit for you."
The roasted meat she’d eaten earlier had been a bit greasy, so she nodded. "Thanks."
Just as the man was about to get up, his expression changed abruptly. He pulled her behind him. "Watch out! Insect Clan!"
Countless bizarre black shadows swarmed them. The man instantly shifted into his beast form, his body wreathed in an aura of flames. He shot out a volley of Fireballs, incinerating the shadows in an instant.
There were too many Insect Beasts for the Golden Lion to handle alone. With a sweep of its thick, long tail, it lifted her onto its back.
A swarm of Insect Beasts with translucent wings dove down from above. Sang Luo quickly formed one Thunder Ball after another, blasting them out of the sky.
Her current strength was easily on par with an early Seventh Rank Beastman. Her Thunder Balls had more than doubled in size, and in terms of pure Attack Power, the Thunder Element was undoubtedly at the top of the list.
The moment the Golden Thunder touched those low-level insects, they were instantly annihilated!
"You have a Talent Ability? From a... mate?" the Golden Lion asked in shock.
Sang Luo grunted in agreement.
His disappointment was quickly doused by the unending wave of insects.
"Can you keep this up?"
"I can!"
Sang Luo cracked her knuckles. ’This is a blast!’
’So this is the power of the Seventh Rank! It’s incredible!’
"Heh heh." A pleased rumble vibrated through the Golden Lion’s chest. He gave her a little bounce on his back. "Alright then, let’s team up and wipe every Insect Beast in this area clean! Hold on tight!"
The two of them swept through the area like a plague of locusts. With thunder and fire, they wiped out every last member of the Insect Clan in the region in a single night.
The slaughter was exhilarating for Duotu; he vented all his pent-up frustration from being ambushed by the Insect Clan earlier.
He looked at Sang Luo, his eyes practically glowing.
The first time, he was captivated by the female’s alluring scent, which stirred his primal instincts as a male.
The second time, it was her stunning beauty, a face he couldn’t forget.
And the third time, it was her combat prowess and fiery spirit. She was exactly his type!
At dawn, it was time for Duotu to return to the Western Continent. He blushed as he looked at her. "So, uh... since fate brought us together, we should add each other as friends."
Sang Luo didn’t refuse. She took out her Light Brain and they scanned each other’s contact information.
A Light Brain could change its appearance; the one she wore looked just like an ordinary Crystal Stone bracelet.
"You really aren’t a female from the Western Continent? People from the other continents don’t use these."
"I have a friend in the Western Continent. He gave it to me." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"If you ever need help, you can come find me in the Western Continent. My name’s Duotu."
"Mhm. Sang Luo."
"...Doesn’t my name sound a little familiar to you?"
"Am I supposed to know you?"
Duotu was now completely certain she wasn’t a female from the Western Continent.
"Nope." A faint smile touched Duotu’s handsome, sunny face. "Well, I’ll be heading back then. Let’s grab a meal sometime if we get the chance."
"Mhm, we’ll see." Sang Luo waved and also turned to leave.
A strand of her hair brushed his face as she left. Duotu reached out as if to catch that wisp of fragrance, but his hand closed on empty air.
Gazing at her retreating figure, his heart fluttered...
