Chapter 401: Chapter 340: He Loathes Her

Sang Luo awoke from a daze to find moonlight spilling across the floor.

The man stood by the bed, his robes disheveled and his eyes gloomy, his face still tinged with the flush of passion.

He clutched a gash on his side with one hand, fresh blood seeping through his fingers. His sinister gaze fell upon her, terrifyingly cold.

His voice sounded as if it were being forced through gritted teeth.

"What did you two—do!"

Biya was back.

The warmth on Sang Luo’s face vanished. She climbed out of bed and, nursing a slight headache from a night of indulgence, pressed her temples. The soft bedding slid down her arm.

She was completely naked.

Her skin was dazzlingly white and delicate, marked with the lingering red traces of passion.

The man took two steps back.

He glanced down and saw the Soul Mark that had appeared on her right wrist. The flush on his handsome face drained away in an instant, leaving it deathly pale.

"He... how dare he use my body to be with you!"

Sang Luo pulled a messy robe over her shoulders and leaned against the headboard. She nodded. "Yes. We were both into it, so we slept together."

Biya’s eyes blazed as if he wanted to kill her. "You’ve got a death wish!"

Sang Luo smiled wickedly, full of confidence. "You’re welcome to try."

Biya was consumed by a rage he couldn’t vent, and it burned him from the inside out.

He knew that if Sang Luo died, the Soul Mark would disappear.

And he knew what the disappearance of the Soul Mark meant for him now.

’Despicable, shameless female!’

’He should have killed her the first time they met, to prevent all this future trouble!’

He had left the Beast World and returned to the Star Vortex Insect Nest, determined never again to be controlled by her, never again to be her pawn.

"Is this your way of saving your life?" Biya scoffed, his tone filled with ridicule. "You think that by seducing my other personality, I’ll be at your beck and call? That I’ll give you whatever you want?"

Sang Luo’s clear eyes rested on him, but she couldn’t see a single trace of Anu.

He said, "I’ll only despise you more."

"..." The tone was completely different, yet hearing those words from the very same face, Sang Luo’s heart was still pierced with a sharp pain.

"I don’t need you to like me. Just stay out of my way." Sang Luo’s tone turned cold as well.

A moment ago, they had been lost in ecstasy. Now, they faced each other like fated enemies.

The man finished dressing and turned to leave.

Sang Luo watched his back, her lips moving. "Anubia," she said, "I was the one who resurrected you."

"So what?" The man stopped but didn’t turn around.

His tone was cold. "Do you want me to be moved to tears with gratitude?"

"..."

"You owed me a life in the first place. Now we’re even. You’re the one who shouldn’t have come here, shouldn’t have appeared before me."

"..."

"Sang Luo, you are the part of my past I least want to talk about." His voice was soft, without a ripple of emotion. "Dying for a female is the biggest joke of all. I hate that foolish version of myself, and I want to escape who I used to be."

"Is that... really what you think?"

A dull ache spread through Sang Luo’s heart. ’So he regrets it. That’s why he erased his love for me the moment he was reborn.’

"If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t be so foolish."

"I’m sorry."

"..."

After they parted on bad terms that night, Sang Luo didn’t see Biya for several days.

He, in turn, no longer went out of his way to make things difficult for her. They treated each other as if they didn’t exist and stayed out of each other’s way.

During this time, Sang Luo had been gathering intelligence on the various regions of the Insect Clan and fostering good relationships with the clan members inside the base.

After all, it had been Anu who personally brought her over last time. Although rumors about their relationship were spreading, it had never been confirmed by the man himself.

In the eyes of the Insect Clan members, Sang Luo was still an outsider with an ambiguous status, making it difficult for her to enter the research base again.

Sang Luo happened to overhear a rumor that Biya would soon be marrying the daughter of an Insect Clan Admiral.

This exceptional female was one of the most fertile of her generation within the Insect Clan. Her father, Admiral Kilcher, was a powerful general who commanded the military in Zone One. The marriage would provide a significant boost to Biya.

More importantly, their genetic compatibility rate was as high as 73%. She was the only female in the Insect Clan whose compatibility with Anubia exceeded 60%, meaning they could produce pure-blooded Insect Clan offspring.

In anyone’s eyes, their union was a match made in heaven.

When Sang Luo heard the news, she was dazed for a few seconds, but it didn’t stir up any strong emotions in her.

’Anu hasn’t appeared again. He must be gone.’

’Biya himself said he despised her. There was no reason for Sang Luo to offer kindness only to be met with a cold shoulder.’

’They were even now. It was best for them to go their separate ways.’

Ever since that night, the Space Jumping Talent Power within her had upgraded to Space Rules (Fragment).

The rules of spacetime were divided into the Time Rule and Space Rules.

She had obtained the Time Rule (Fragment) from Minos, and now she had gotten Space Rules (Fragment) from Anu.

Theoretically, once she broke through to the Supreme Realm, she could merge the two Talent Powers into one, forming the true rules of spacetime.

’She could go home.’

’This is great.’

’Her long-held wish, the one she had worked so hard for, was finally within reach.’

The Insect Clan members in Zone 3 knew Anubia was going to marry a noble female, but their attitude toward Sang Luo didn’t change.

It was quite normal for high-status females and males to have multiple partners.

Partners in a political marriage rarely found true love with each other.

As long as Sang Luo wasn’t driven out of the palace by Anubia, she would continue to hold a respected position in the eyes of the Insect Clan.

"Miss Sang Luo, the base is conducting a spot check on a batch of test subjects this afternoon. The storage warehouse will be open for one hour. Would you like to go?" a young Insect Clan man in a white uniform asked as he approached.

"Thank you, Kael."

"You’re welcome."

Sang Luo followed Kael to the research base.

She inspected the Crystal Cores stored in the last warehouse and found no issues.

She marked a large "X" over Zone 3 on the map on her wristband.

However, there was something else she was curious about.

"What are these sealed Crystal Cores used for?"

"These are all Crystal Cores we’ve extracted from the bodies of Polluted Aberrations. The King and all of us are investigating their origin and using them in experiments, trying to find a way to perform Purification on the polluted species."

Sang Luo had never encountered a Polluted Aberration before, but she had heard of their reputation. Even Anubia would suffer superficial wounds when fighting a group of them.

"Has the investigation made any progress so far?"

"Yes. Preliminary research shows that the power within the Crystal Cores comes from planetary energy."

Sang Luo’s pupils constricted in shock. "Are you saying those Polluted Aberrations were artificially created using planetary energy?"

"Yes. Someone is intentionally plundering planetary energy to produce these Polluted Aberrations."

A few ideas began to form in Sang Luo’s mind.

Her investigation of the research base in Zone 3 was complete.

It was time for her to depart for her next destination.

Sang Luo asked Kael for a map of Zone 2, one that marked the areas where Polluted Aberrations were most common. She had no desire to run into those monsters.

"Miss, you’re leaving?" Kael asked in surprise. "Shouldn’t you inform the King?"

"No need. Just prepare a small starship for me. I’m leaving tonight. I’m in a hurry."

"Alright."

Sang Luo left Zone 3 that night.
