Chapter 375: Chapter 314: Studying Under the High Priest

Si Ye’s lips curved into a wicked smile. He rolled over, pinning her beneath him, just as he was about to do something.

The door opened.

Fei Yuan returned from the morning court assembly, a bowl of hot soup in his hands. "Luo’er, come and eat."

Sang Luo pushed against Si Ye’s chest. "Go play somewhere else."

A low grunt escaped Si Ye’s throat. He lowered his head and bit her on the lips before finally letting her go.

Sang Luo got out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and sat down at the dining table to eat.

Si Ye lay flat on the bed for a short while before also rolling out of bed and going over.

It was a corn, carrot, and chicken soup. Sang Luo liked it and took several large gulps. "It’s so savory! This flavor seems... who made this?"

"Lan Cang simmered it early this morning."

"Ah, Cangcang is here too?"

"I heard from Little Ye last night that you’ll be staying for a long time on this visit. The two of us alone wouldn’t be able to give you the best care, so we called Lan Cang over too. Your appetite has been very picky during this pregnancy. He’s the best one for the job," Fei Yuan said with a smile.

Lan Cang came in carrying several dishes and placed them on the table. They were all nutritious stir-fries, not too oily or salty. Trailing behind him was a group of cubs who had long been drooling uncontrollably from the delicious smells.

Lan Cang sat down next to Sang Luo and picked up a soup dumpling for her. "These just came out of the steamer. They might be a little hot."

Sang Luo took a bite of the small meat bun; the filling was also fresh and delicious. She ate several of them, then casually scooped up Little Zhenzhen to feed it a bite. "Cangcang, is everything busy over on the North Continent? You came all this way just for this."

"I’ve allied with the other major powers on the North Continent, and we’ve nearly cleared out all the Disaster Beasts. I’ve finished up my other business too. I came to help take care of you. Nothing, no matter how important, is more important than you." Lan Cang looked at her, his smile full of tenderness.

Seeing him like this, Sang Luo knew he had finally let go of his past hang-ups. Lan Cang rarely visited before, not because he didn’t want to see her, but because of his own feelings of inferiority. Now, he had come openly, his heart and eyes filled with nothing but concern for her.

He cherished every moment by her side. As long as he could do everything in his power to care for her and the children, it would be the greatest blessing of his life.

Si Ye brought over stools of all sizes. They had been specially commissioned from a carpenter so that every cub could reach the tabletop to eat.

Fei Yuan watched the noisy, bustling group of cubs, his heart filled with an incredible sense of satisfaction. When had the Phoenix Palace ever been this lively?

Fei Yuan said, "The Sea Emperor had mentioned coming over as well, but the situation in the seas is complicated and he couldn’t get away, so I told him not to."

"Isn’t the three of you enough? It’s not like I’m disabled or something," Sang Luo chuckled. "I’ve heard Little Blue Eucalyptus mention it. It’s better for him to stay in the South Sea and take care of things there."

Sang Luo’s appetite was good today. She finished the entire large bowl of soup, not leaving a single drop, ate all the chicken leg meat, and even had five or six soup dumplings before letting out a satisfied burp.

Fei Yuan wiped her mouth for her.

Sang Luo then took a Spirit Fruit from her spatial storage to eat. After she finished, it would be the children’s turn.

A white bird flew in through the window and landed on Fei Yuan’s shoulder. It had three tufts of red feathers on its forehead and three on its tail, making it quite adorable.

Fei Yuan raised his palm, and the white bird hopped twice before flying into it.

He untied the message tube from the bird’s leg, took out a small letter, and opened it. After reading it, he said, "Luoluo, in a few days, I might have to leave for a while."

"Where are you going?"

"I’m taking a trip to the North. For the Priest."

"Is your master buried in the North?" Sang Luo asked, a thought occurring to her. "I don’t think you’ve ever mentioned this master to me. I heard you studied under the legendary Beast God High Priest."

"Oh, Little Luoruo knows about that too? That’s right. Both the Northern Beast Emperor and I studied under the Beast God High Priest. But he passed away many years ago. I go to pay my respects every few years."

"I’ve never been to the northern part of the East Continent... Why don’t I go with you? It’ll be a nice change of scenery."

Fei Yuan didn’t agree. "You’re still pregnant. If you get there and can’t acclimate to the new environment, I’m the one who’ll have to deal with the trouble."

"Mommy, Uncle-Grandpa Fei Yuan, I want to go play in the North too! I’ve never been there!" Little Zhenzhen raised a paw, and the other cubs quickly raised their hands as well.

Fei Yuan chuckled and scolded them affectionately, "You little rascals."

Sang Luo’s eyes sparkled. "See? The children all want to go too. We can just treat it as a little trip. I’m still in my first trimester. Once my belly gets too big to walk, I really won’t have the chance to go out and play."

"Alright, alright." Fei Yuan couldn’t even convince one of them, and he was completely overwhelmed when the cubs joined in. "Besides, the round trip is only half a month."

’I can have her all to myself for half a month, too.’

...

「One day prior.」

「The Holy Hall.」

Oria wanted to control the Holy Hall forever, to become the master above the King.

Every Holy Monarch and Holy Empress needed to be sufficiently obedient.

Females from outside his sphere of influence were difficult to control, but a Holy Monarch who had lost his fighting spirit after the death of his partner was exceptionally easy to manipulate. A cub, moreover, could be trained to be loyal from a young age.

Oria knew his scheme had failed. The Holy Empress had not been afflicted by the Poisonous Gu. Her vigilance was quite strong; she was cleverer than the previous Holy Empresses.

The Hidden Guards he sent out had come back empty-handed.

The Holy Empress was no longer in the Holy Palace.

Oria’s expression turned ugly. He had sealed off the Holy Palace in advance, yet she had escaped so quickly.

"Whatever the Saint Ancestor wants, you should have come to me directly. There was no need to target my partner."

Minos had come to the Holy Hall personally to confront Oria.

He threw a small Curse Doll and a bloody head onto the floor.

That was a severed human head! Everyone in the hall gasped, their faces filled with horror.

The Curse Doll, an ancient Forbidden Technique that had long been strictly prohibited. As long as one obtained the target’s blood, they could draw the soul into the doll. The doll would then slowly devour the original body’s life essence, and could even cause death!

Oria sat on the holy throne, his posture casual and composed as he looked down upon Minos. "I was only acting for the Holy Monarch’s own good. Females are fickle and promiscuous. These foreign females, especially, will mate with inferior males of different races, defiling the bloodline and reputation of our Angel Race! Hasn’t Your Majesty always valued these matters most?"

"Absurd! She is my Holy Empress. Her rights and wrongs are not for an outsider like you to comment on!" Golden light roiled with fury in Minos’s blue eyes.

"Your Majesty, do you truly believe your mother died in childbirth all those years ago?" A crueler mockery entered Oria’s tone as an amusing thought occurred to him. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Minos’s expression grew exceptionally cold and grim.

Oria slowly descended from the platform. "If this Holy Empress of yours had been obedient, I could have left her alone. But unfortunately, she is disobedient, just like your mother. And so, I cannot let her live."

What Oria needed was a heartless and disloyal puppet Holy Monarch.

’Eliminate the mother, keep the son... Heh, it works every time.’

"Does the Holy Monarch wish to know how your father died?" Oria came to stand before Minos, brushing a speck of dust from his shoulder with his right hand. His voice was extremely soft. "Just like you are now, he stood before me, wanting to assassinate me to vent his anger."

A golden blade of light pierced through Oria’s heart. The smile on his face only deepened.

The Archbishop and the Holy Envoys panicked, shouting to stop him. "Holy Monarch, you absolutely must not!"

"The Saint Ancestor founded the Holy Hall in the name of the Ancient Gods! He carries the will of the Ancient Gods and is the closest being to a God in this age! What you are doing... is blasphemy!"

"If he is a God, then I will slay a God," Minos’s voice was devoid of any ripple, his vertical golden pupils erupting with ultimate killing intent.

The hall fell deathly silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Not a single person dared to step forward and intervene.
