Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 221 - 165: Invitation from the Soaring Snake Clan
"Xiu’er, there’s no time to lose. Hurry and refine the Dragon Blood. When the day comes, you and I—"
SQUELCH!
Quan Xiu stepped forward. A jet-black longsword appeared in his palm, and he ran him straight through.
"Thank you so much, Father. It seems I didn’t spare your life for nothing." The man’s cold, indifferent voice whispered in his ear.
Quan Gang looked down to see an ethereal black mist spreading from his pierced chest. Wherever it passed, flesh and bone instantly dissolved into a pool of black water.
His bloodshot eyes bulged. He glared death at the cold, ruthless, black-robed young man before him and ground out through clenched teeth, "You! You’re not Quan Xiu!"
"Father... No, I should address you properly. Uncle. Perhaps you’ve forgotten that another child has this face."
"You are—Quan Jin!" Quan Gang’s face filled with panic. "No! How can you still be alive?!"
"You can ask my mother in the netherworld."
"Quan Yu? HAHAHAHA!" Quan Gang suddenly burst into crazed laughter, his eyes filled with vicious malice. "She deserved to die for having you and Quan Xiu, you two bastards, with that monster! Especially you! You have that monster’s blood flowing in your veins. I will never let you get the Dragon Blood... AARGH!"
The longsword was withdrawn, and Quan Gang instantly disintegrated into dust.
Caesar casually tossed the longsword to the ground. An invisible but powerful wave of spiritual power washed out, and all the men lying in ambush outside the cave were obliterated.
The old fool’s days were numbered; he would never have simply accepted his fate and died. He had planned to possess Caesar’s body of Divine Blood and be reborn at the moment he was most vulnerable while refining it. But he never expected that he himself was just another pawn in the other’s game.
After cleaning up the scene, Caesar took a damaged white egg from his spatial storage and placed it in the Blood Pool.
Dragon Blood and the Soaring Snake Clan shared the same origin. This potent Divine Blood’s power might just allow Little An to survive.
The Little Black Snake crawled out from his wide, ink-black sleeve. It looked at the Blood Pool, then back at Caesar, tilting its little head and flicking its tongue. "Dad, when are we going to find Mom? I haven’t seen her in months!"
At the mention of the female, Caesar’s expression grew distant, and he lowered his gaze, a touch of loneliness in his eyes.
"Your mother... she probably doesn’t want to see me anymore."
"How could that be? Mom really likes you, Dad! Her eyes are full of love when she looks at you!"
"...What do you know about love?"
"Hmph! Of course I do." Little Qi wagged the tip of his tail and said with great seriousness, "Dad is usually cold to me, but I know he loves me very much. Every time he looks at me, his eyes are hiding their tenderness!"
"The way Mom looks at you is even gentler than the way you look at me."
"Mom must really, really love you, Dad."
A tremor went through Caesar’s heart. He’d known for a while that she was the Beast Mother of his child and his former mate, but the knowledge hadn’t stirred much emotion in him. To him, it had simply meant he would have someone to share his bed and that his child would have a mother. Nothing more.
But, since they last parted, a thought Caesar had never had before began to form: he wanted to seek out his lost memories.
It wasn’t that he had no way to recover his memories; he had just been too lazy to bother looking before.
"Once you and Little An have refined the Divine Blood, I’ll take you back to find her."
"You have my word, Dad! We have to bring Mom back this time!"
"Mm, alright."
With that promise, the Little Black Snake darted into the Blood Pool and started soaking.
Caesar watched his two children slowly absorb the Divine Blood in the Blood Pool.
There were no signs of rejection.
He set up an Array inside and outside the tomb.
The Spiritual Energy here was dense, making it a good place for Cultivation.
「Over half a year passed in a flash.」
Caesar opened his eyes once more. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
A small black snake that had just woken up was coiled around his arm.
It was twice as large as it had been half a year ago. It must have shed its skin once in the interim, as its scales were now a deeper, more lustrous black. A faint golden light shimmered at the edges of the black scales, and the two small horns on its head were more pronounced, curving slightly back against its head.
Caesar placed the Little Black Snake into his spatial storage to rest. He then looked at the Blood Pool, and a hint of surprise crossed his features.
The blood in the pool had completely dried up.
The parts of the white egg that had been broken were now as good as new, and the egg itself was slightly larger than before.
On the shell, the faint lavender patterns had transformed into dazzling purple-gold markings, and the entire egg radiated an indescribable, mystical halo.
Its life force, which had been on the verge of disappearing, had been completely revitalized and was now even stronger than before.
Caesar walked into the dry pool and put the Beast Egg back into his spatial storage.
Before leaving, he scanned the tomb, picked up the key that had fallen on the ground, and left with his children.
The heavy tomb door shut with a RUMBLE, hidden away amidst the cliffs of the deep valley.
...
Sang Luo had returned from the North Continent.
She saw Si Ye holding a black, gold-stamped invitation, his expression displeased.
"What’s that?"
"The Soaring Snake Clan has a new Clan Leader, who is a Beast Emperor. After a century of turmoil, the Southern region finally has a new Beast Emperor. When a new ruler takes the throne, it’s customary to host a banquet for guests from far and wide. The Beast Emperors and Beast Kings from every region, along with other prominent figures, have all received invitations." Fei Yuan walked over, explaining. He held an invitation as well.
Sang Luo was about to ask what he was doing here, but something suddenly occurred to her. "The Soaring Snake Clan? Could the Southern Beast Emperor be..."
She looked at Si Ye. A flame ignited at his pale, jade-like fingertips, and the invitation was instantly burned to a crisp.
"I despise that Snake Beast, so I won’t be attending the banquet. Do you want to go?"
Sang Luo was taken aback. "The Southern region didn’t send me an invitation. Can I still go?"
"Guests may bring one family member to the banquet. If you’d like to go, Little Luoruo, I can take you." As the Central Beast Emperor, Fei Yuan had to attend personally to offer congratulations and a gift to the new Southern Beast Emperor, out of both courtesy and obligation.
Fei Yuan noticed her hesitation and asked again, "Do you want to go?"
Sang Luo didn’t answer right away. To be honest, she didn’t know either.
Her and Caesar...
Did they still have a relationship?
They even had children together, so they certainly weren’t strangers. But the way Caesar felt to her now... he was more distant than any stranger.
Almost a year had passed, and he hadn’t come to find her. ’He’s probably forgotten all about me. Why am I getting so worked up over nothing?’
"I don’t even have an invitation. What’s it got to do with me? I’m not going." Sang Luo went straight back to her room, the slam of her door echoing crisply.
Fei Yuan and Si Ye exchanged a thoughtful look. "Is she a little upset?"
Si Ye grinned. "That Snake Beast deserves it."
"Hm?" Fei Yuan asked. "She has a connection to the new Southern Beast Emperor, too?"
"They even have kids together. What do you think?" Si Ye grumbled, slumping onto the sofa with a defiant glint in his eyes.
’If we’re going by who came first, both of us are "juniors" compared to that Snake Beast.’
Si Ye couldn’t wait for the two of them to fall apart.
"That look on her face... it doesn’t seem like she’s at peace with it. It looks more like she’s sulking." Fei Yuan thought for a moment, then walked to her door and knocked lightly. "Little Luoruo, are you asleep?"
"..."
"Throughout history, the emergence of every new Beast Emperor has been a world-shaking event. The coronation banquets are always magnificent and lively. Since you’re just sitting around at home with nothing to do anyway, why not come with me to the Southern region for a couple of days? Just think of it as broadening your horizons. What do you say?"
