Sang Luo said goodbye to the steward and passed by the kitchens. Remembering how delicious the candied fruit from last time was, she went over and asked them to make another plate.
A rustling came from the flower bushes in front of the house.
After the last assassination attempt, Sang Luo was paranoid, thinking another Demon Beast had secretly snuck in. She almost launched an attack when a Little Black Snake, only as thick as her pinky finger, poked its head out of the bushes.
Sang Luo froze for a moment, then felt a mix of shock and delight. "Little Qi?"
’Isn’t this the Little Black Snake she and Si Ye met at the morning market?’
Sang Luo hurried over and took a closer look to make sure she wasn’t mistaken. "How did you sneak into the Marquis Mansion?"
’Mommy, I finally found you again!’ Little Qi’s silver eyes were brimming with tears. It opened its mouth to speak, but seeing the servants passing by, it remembered its father’s warning. As an Innate King Beast, its status was special. It couldn’t speak in front of outsiders, or it would be coveted by those with ill intentions. So, it quickly shut its mouth, flicked its tiny tail, and slithered toward her.
Sang Luo took Little Qi into her palm and brushed the dirt and fallen leaves off its body. She took two steps forward and saw an overturned vegetable basket on the ground, its leafy contents spilled out. Looking back at the somewhat guilty-looking Little Snake, she immediately understood what had happened.
The Little Snake was so small it could easily go unnoticed. It must have snuck into a vegetable basket when no one was looking and been brought back by the servants who were out shopping.
"Where’s your father?" Sang Luo scanned the area outside the mansion with her spiritual power but didn’t see the man in white. "Did you sneak out again?"
The Little Snake nodded.
Sang Luo sighed. ’Why does this little snake always run to me?’
She took the Little Snake and went to find the steward again. "Elder Yu, this Little Snake is named Little Qi. It got separated from its Beast Father and Beast Mother again. Could you please take some people to help it find its parents?"
Elder Yu didn’t notice the "again" in Sang Luo’s words and assumed it was just a little snake cub that had wandered into the mansion by accident. He reached out to take it. "Don’t worry, Madam. I’ll take my men and look for them right away!"
Just as his hand was about to touch the Little Snake, it suddenly arched its body, bared its fangs, and took an aggressive stance.
Elder Yu’s heart jumped. He was a Seventh Rank Beastman, yet his face turned pale, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He felt a sudden urge to kneel.
Fearing the Little Snake would bite him, Sang Luo quickly pulled it back, not noticing the momentary change in the old steward’s expression. She chided it softly, "Be good, Little Qi. Don’t worry, Elder Yu isn’t a bad person. I’m asking him to help you find your father."
’I don’t want a father, I just want a mother!’ When facing her, the Little Snake put on its docile and obedient act again. But the moment Sang Luo tried to hand it over to someone else, it would immediately switch to an aggressive posture, extremely resistant to being touched by outsiders.

When she returned, she found the Little Snake was gone.

A strange Beastman saw the unaccompanied Little Snake, holding a few strips of meat in his hand as he walked toward it.
’I hope it didn’t run into a trafficker!’

When she got outside the mansion, she was a step too late. The Beastman and the Little Snake were already gone.
Sang Luo searched again with her spiritual power and found the two of them were heading for the city gate.
She chased them all the way out of the city.
The Beastman was gone, but the Little Snake was still there. It seemed to have no sense of danger at all as it quickly slithered into the deep forest outside the city.
The area outside the city was home to many dangerous Star Beasts. If it was accidentally eaten by one... Sang Luo didn’t even dare to imagine it. After chasing it for several miles, she finally found the Little Snake again. Just as she caught it in her palm, before she even had a chance to scold it, a dangerous aura descended silently.
Several King Rank Star Beasts leaped out of the forest, completely surrounding them.

’Father is useless. I’ll just bring Mother back myself.’
The Little Snake shook its head, then nodded, anxiously tugging at the hem of Sang Luo’s skirt, trying to pull her forward.
Seeing it act like this, Sang Luo suspected her guess might actually be right. She hesitated for a moment.
If it were anyone else, she definitely wouldn’t risk it, but this Little Snake... She felt an indescribable affection for it and couldn’t bring herself to leave it alone.
Her power was now at the True King Rank, and she had few rivals. If she really encountered a Demon Beast above the True King Rank, she could use her Soul Mark to call for backup. Her life wasn’t really in danger.
"Fine. You can lead me there to save him, but come here first. Don’t get too far away from me."

A slender Eagle Beastman used an ancient tree for cover, and with his concealment Talent Ability, he avoided her spiritual power scan.
When he saw the female with no one around to protect her, a strange smile flashed across his face. His figure teleported away, reappearing in another location outside the city.
He reported to a tall man dressed in magnificent, navy-blue clothes,
"First Young Master, that female snuck out of the city! Si Ye isn’t with her. This is the perfect chance for us to make our move!"
They had plotted several assassinations before, all of which had ended in failure. They never expected the female to walk right into their trap. If they didn’t strike now, when would they?
