Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 149 - 93: The Child is Missing
After their passion.
Lan Cang held Sang Luo, gently kissing her eyebrows, her eyes, her cheeks, her neck, her collarbones... over and over again, endlessly. ’He wanted to leave his mark on every inch of her skin.’
They fell asleep in each other’s arms, wrapped in warmth and affection.
’This moment was so perfect,’ he thought, ’he wanted to freeze time forever.’
"I feel all sticky. It’s uncomfortable. I want to take a bath~" Sang Luo said, lifting a slender, elegant arm.
"I’ll carry you," Lan Cang said, a satisfied smile playing on his lips as he lifted her into his arms and headed for the bathroom.
Sang Luo could have just cast a Cleaning Technique with her Water Spiritual Power, but she was enjoying their tender moment. She let him carry her, savoring his attentiveness.
Lan Cang placed her in the bathtub and filled it with water. He carefully washed her body, his face flushing slightly as he saw the red marks left on her snow-white skin. He took out a bottle of white balm and began applying it to the places he had "ravaged." He whispered, "I’ll control myself next time..."
"We have children already, yet you’re still so bashful and shy," Sang Luo teased with a laugh. "You say that every time, but I’ve never known you to go easy on me."
"..." ’It just felt too good,’ he thought. ’How could he possibly hold back?’
’He’d already held back with great difficulty this time, only letting her go before dawn. Otherwise, with all his pent-up energy, he could have pulled her right back to bed for another three hundred rounds.’
’Of course, he wouldn’t dare say that out loud!’
Sang Luo tossed a towel at him. "Get yourself cleaned up, too~"
Lan Cang took the towel and thoroughly scrubbed himself clean from head to toe.
He changed into a deep gray velvet bathrobe, cinched at the waist. It accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist, highlighting his superb, statuesque build.
His short, choppy black hair was still damp. His features were strikingly handsome and aloof: ink-dark brows, long, deep-set eyes, a fine nose, and thin lips. His face was so perfectly sculpted it seemed carved from jade. The robe hung slightly open, revealing his sexy collarbones and a patch of skin where a bead of water trickled down. In the dim bathroom light, he looked utterly alluring.
Sang Luo casually cast a Healing Technique, and the red marks on her body vanished instantly. She gave the handsome man before her a lustful look. ’Another three hundred rounds wouldn’t be so bad,’ she thought.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from the courtyard outside.
Lan Cang’s expression turned serious. "I’ll go take a look."
"Okay, go. Business comes first."
Lan Cang threw on a coat and left.
Sang Luo remained in the bathtub, swirling her hand through the warm water.
She stretched out one of her long, slender legs, resting it on the edge of the tub. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a flash of pale blue...
She looked down. On the back of her left ankle was a fish-shaped mark.
’When... did I get this?’
Sang Luo snapped out of her daze and chuckled softly.
’Other Beast Husbands try everything to place their marks somewhere conspicuous. But him? He put it in such an out-of-the-way spot. Does he know I’m not going back to him? Is he afraid that if I see it, I’ll think of him and try to order him around?’
After taking their child and leaving without a word, Lou Xianyue had been completely silent. He probably intended to sever all ties with her.
Sang Luo had never developed deep feelings for him anyway, so severing ties was actually a relief. She wasn’t too bothered by it, but she did feel a pang of regret for the Little Mermaid she had given birth to. She hadn’t even had a chance to meet the child, and she suspected its father would never let them see each other again.
Sang Luo put on a white bathrobe and stood before the mirror.
’I’ve certainly collected a few Soul Marks.’
’Good thing these marks can be hidden at will. Otherwise, if I was standing in front of a man covered in them, and he saw all these other marks while we were... busy, he’d probably get so mad he’d pull on his pants and storm out.’
Lou Xianyue’s mark was on the back of her left ankle. Lan Cang’s was on her side. Anubia’s was on her left wrist. Duotu’s mark had been on her right wrist, but she had broken the bond. It had faded from gold to a faint, gray, cracked impression, almost invisible unless you looked closely.
Sang Luo reached up, her hand touching a spot over her left breast, closest to her heart.
There, too, was a faint, shattered mark.
It was Caesar’s.
Even now, thinking of him sent a sharp, prickling pain through her heart.
He was, after all, the father of her first child. She had genuinely cared for him, treasuring him no less than she did Lan Cang.
A short while later, Lan Cang returned.
He told her, "A female has gone missing in the city. She’s been gone for three full days without a trace. Her partner has been searching for her this whole time without success and, as a last resort, has come to the City Lord Mansion for help."
’Another female has gone missing?’
The first thing that came to Sang Luo’s mind was the Insect Clan.
"Is this the work of the Insect Clan again?"
"The Insect Clan?"
A flicker of confusion crossed Lan Cang’s eyes.
He had never encountered the Insect Clan before.
Sang Luo asked in surprise, "Have females on the North Continent never been abducted by the Insect Clan before?"
"I’m not sure about the past, but in the year I’ve been here, I’ve never heard of anything like that." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
’The North Continent is remote and brutally cold, a harsh environment with few Beastmen and even fewer females. The members of the Insect Clan aren’t stupid; they probably wouldn’t bother with a place that offers so little reward for the effort.’
Sang Luo didn’t want to jump to conclusions. "You should send people to search first. Perhaps it was some other kind of accident. I heard Star Beasts have been sighted again in the Stone Forest near Ice-breaking City. Find out if the missing female left the city recently."
"Right. I’ll lead a team to search inside and outside the city walls."
"By the way, where are the cubs? They love to run around all over the place. We need to make sure they don’t get into trouble."
"They’re at Asa’s place. I’ll go bring the three of them back."
"Hurry back."
...
"Are you little cubs hungry? Uncle Asa is going to make you something yummy. You wait here in the courtyard, okay? No running off."
Everywhere they went, the cubs were treated like precious treasures, especially three cubs as adorable as these! A single Male Beast like Asa, who had no cubs of his own, felt his heart melt from their cuteness. He was overcome with paternal instinct, wanting to bring out every treat in his house and stuff the little ones until they couldn’t eat another bite.
After giving them a final reminder, Asa went into the kitchen.
The three cubs chased each other around the courtyard, wrestling playfully.
Unlike his two older brothers and their boundless energy, Zhi Xin grew tired and bored after playing for only a little while. He snuck off to a quiet corner, planning to take a nice long nap while he waited for his father to come pick them up.
Outside the courtyard, not far off.
A furtive-looking Beastman appeared.
His eyes were empty and lifeless, darting about uncontrollably as if scanning his surroundings for something.
Zhi Xin was exceptionally sensitive to souls. Though he was just a little cub with poor judgment, he could tell at a glance that this Beastman was a soulless husk. His curiosity flared—it was the first time he had ever seen such an ugly creature.
With the fearlessness of a newborn calf facing a tiger, he got up, gave his little body a shake, and trotted curiously toward the Beastman.
The Beastman spotted Zhi Xin at once. His eyes lit up, and he snatched the cub up, vanishing in an instant.
