Lin Fan quickly went in and gave Boer Si Ti a finishing blow with his hammers.

Splatter.

Boer Si Ti’s head exploded into a pulp of red and white mass.

A familiar sound erupted in Lin Fan’s mind.

[Ding! Congratulations on terminating malevolent intent.]

Finally, when Lin Fan was done, Boer Si Ti lay motionlessly on the ground.

"Senior martial uncle, please arrive earlier next time," Hun Yen Kun said as he swallowed the pill from Zhao Qing Ying.

Zhao Qing Ying replied, "It wasn’t my fault. Your master let me off late."

"Maybe we should get going first?" Lin Fan chimed in before they started to banter, as he saw orange dots coming down the mountain.

They were most likely torches from the Hulu tribe soldiers.

Both of them turned and looked in the direction Lin Fan was pointing.

"Let’s get going," Zhao Qing Ying said and helped Lin Fan get up.

Lin Fan grabbed his hand, stood up, and quickly swallowed his last remaining Blood and Qi restoration pills.

His Qi and energy recovered a little.

With whatever energy he had, he used the Genesis Bloom ability, and his wound on his abdomen started to close.

Ho Ming was also now on his feet after taking the pill from Zhao Qing Ying.

After making sure everyone was able to move, they started to make their way to the pickup point.

The pickup point wasn’t too far away; they had to run facing the cold wind for around half an hour.

When they got near the pickup point, Lin Fan saw that the others were already waiting for them.

They were surprised to see Lin Fan, Ho Ming, and Hun Yen Kun hurt so badly.

The escape routes they took had blocked their line of sight from where Lin Fan was.

"Are the three of you all right?" The others asked with concerned looks when they saw the wounds.

"We are, but we have to save the concerns for later," Hun Yen Kun said and took out a flute and played a melody with it.

After a few moments, huge gusts of cold wind blew at them as the guardian flapped its wings while descending.

Now the guardian beast no longer looked menacing to them; it was their ticket back to safety.

They wasted no time and got onto the guardian beast.

By the time all of them had mounted, Hulu tribe troops had arrived two hundred meters away.

They started to shoot their arrows at the guardian beast.

Whoosh.

The arrows weren’t accurate as they flew against the north winds.

To make it worse, the guardian beast flapped its huge wings, and the strong winds blew the arrows away from their trajectory.

As the guardian beast slowly ascended, the Hulu tribe troops could only curse as they ran toward it.

They tried to grab onto its talons.

Lin Fan looked down and saw the troops become small orange dots with their torches illuminating the night.

"We did it!" Lai Ming shouted with his fist pumped in the air.

He turned and glanced at the others.

Silence.

The others were too tired.

And even though they were just as happy, they chose to shut their eyes and conserve what energy they had left.

Huai Mountain.

Military Guard Post.

The crowd cheered as the guardian beast landed and Lin Fan with the others dismounted from it.

They didn’t know exactly what Lin Fan and his team had done, but right now they found anything to be cheer-worthy.

For them, it was going to be life as usual after Tan Xiao Yao’s demise.

Some even saw the possibility of a new era with how the different sects had come and worked together.

Lin Fan wasn’t so optimistic.

He had a hunch things weren’t about to get better but worse.

Lin Fan and the team got to rest for a day before meeting with Qing Yang Zi.

Next day.

Lin Fan was fully rested, and his wounds had healed with his Genesis Bloom ability.

This made Ho Ming envious as some of his wounds were still open and bleeding, but he was overall in much better shape than yesterday.

The others were also looking much better when they came to find Lin Fan.

"I swear I could have killed more enemies if you hadn’t dragged my progress," Lai Ming said as he and Lai Qing were on their daily bantering. Continue reading stories on novelbuddy

Zhao Jia Rui shook her head and glanced at Lin Fan.

She now looked upon Lin Fan as an inspiration for who she would be.

In the corner, Hu Tuo was his usual quiet self.

"Since everyone is here, let’s get going," Lin Fan said and led them to the meeting room.

It wasn’t too far away, and they arrived after a few minutes’ walk.

"Well done. Your team shall be handsomely rewarded," Qing Yang Zi said as he saw the team enter the meeting room.

"Thank you, sect master," The team bowed and thanked Qing Yang Zi for the reward.

Qing Yang Zi glanced at the young disciples standing next to each other from the different sects with an approving look.

Maybe these disciples could lead the way forward, he thought.

Storm Fist Thunder Sect and Yi Mei Sect were now without sect masters.

It would be great if one of the Lai brothers and Zhao Jia Rui became the sect masters of their respective sects in the future.

His thoughts were disrupted as the other sect masters and elders from the different sects came into the room.

They glanced at the disciples and signaled them to stand where they should be.

Behind their own sect masters and elders.

Boundaries and lines that were dissolved temporarily had to be redrawn again.

Lin Fan sighed as the other disciples glanced over at him.

It is what it is, he thought.

The meeting was about the arrangements to get back to their respective sects.

They were to vacate this military guard post for the Emperor’s troops to take over.

No one had heard anything from the Emperor, so they didn’t know what to expect from him.

In Lin Fan’s mind, it was best not to have anything to do with the Emperor.

But it was not for him to decide.

When the meeting was over, the other disciples followed their sect masters and elders.

Every time one of them passed by Lin Fan, they looked at him and said, "You owe us a hotpot meal, don’t think you can get away with it."

Lin Fan could only reply and say, "You are always welcome."
