Chapter 293: Six Songs

Dayo stood near the mixing console, arms folded, eyes fixed on the glass wall separating the control room from the recording booth. Inside, Yura had her headphones on, shoulders slightly tense, lips moving as she mouthed the lyrics again without sound.

Min-Jae leaned back in his chair and glanced at Dayo.

"She hasn’t left that booth since morning."

Dayo didn’t look away.

"She doesn’t need to."

Min-Jae snorted.

"Normal humans need breaks, you know."

"That’s your weakness," Dayo replied calmly. "You think discipline has a timer."

Min-Jae clicked his tongue. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"See? This is what I mean. Nobody thinks like you. Sometimes I swear you’re not normal."

Dayo finally turned.

"You’ve said that before."

"And I’ll say it again," Min-Jae continued. "Because no sane person listens to eight different tracks, rearranges features overnight, and still wakes up smiling."

Dayo shrugged.

"I was bored."

Min-Jae laughed.

"Of course you were."

Inside the booth, Yura opened her eyes and noticed them through the glass. She froze for half a second, then hurriedly removed one side of her headphones.

"Oh—Director Dayo," she said quickly, bowing instinctively even though the glass separated them.

Dayo gestured gently.

"Relax. Sit."

She hesitated, then sat back down.

Min-Jae pressed the talk button.

"You’ve been practicing the intro for almost forty minutes."

Yura nodded nervously.

"I wanted to get the timing right."

"You already did," Min-Jae said. "Three takes ago."

Dayo added, "You’re not here to prove endurance. You’re here to understand the songs."

Yura swallowed.

"Yes, sir."

Dayo stepped closer to the glass.

"How do the songs feel?"

She thought for a moment, choosing her words carefully.

"They feel... easy. Not simple. Just... like they were written for my voice."

Min-Jae raised an eyebrow and glanced at Dayo.

"See? I told you."

Dayo ignored him.

"That’s the point."

Yura looked between them, confused but attentive.

Dayo continued, his tone steady.

"You’re not competing anymore. This isn’t a survival stage. These songs are tools. You use them to grow."

She nodded slowly.

"You have one week," Dayo said. "Practice all of them. Don’t rush recordings. Learn the rhythm, the emotion, the breathing. After that, we start."

"One week?" Yura repeated, surprised.

"Yes."

She straightened immediately.

"I won’t waste it."

"I know," Dayo replied.

Min-Jae smirked.

"See? She’s already more reliable than you."

Dayo glanced at him.

"You still owe me vocals."

Min-Jae froze.

"...Excuse me?"

"You’re featured on one track," Dayo said casually.

Min-Jae blinked.

"No, I’m not."

"You are."

"When did we agree to that?"

"When you signed the production approval."

Min-Jae groaned.

"You hid it in the paperwork, didn’t you?"

Dayo allowed a small smile.

"You should read contracts more carefully."

Yura watched them quietly, eyes wide.

Min-Jae pointed at Dayo.

"This is what I’m talking about. You’re dangerous."

"And you’re still featured," Dayo replied.

Min-Jae sighed dramatically.

"I hate you."

"You’ll thank me later."

Min-Jae muttered, "I won’t."

Dayo turned back to Yura.

"For now, focus on these."

He tapped the tablet and sent the playlist to the studio screen.

The tracklist appeared:

1.Seven (Clean Ver.) – Dayo ft. Yura

2.Shoong! – Dayo ft. Yura

3.Dreamers – Dayo ft. Yura

4.Bad Decisions – Dayo ft. Yura ft Blake

5.Stay Alive – Dayo ft. Yura

6.Who – Dayo ft. Yura

7.Dynamite – Dayo

8.DDU-DU DDU-DU – Dayo ft..

9."Celebrity" - Dayo ft....

10."MONEY" - Dayo

11."Left and Right" -Dayo ft Min-Jae

12."That That" - Dayo ft....

Yura stared at the list, stunned.

"All six?" she asked softly.

"Yes," Dayo answered.

Her hands trembled slightly.

"I... I don’t know how to thank you."

"You don’t," Dayo said. "You work."

She nodded again, this time more firmly.

Min-Jae leaned forward.

"And don’t worry about perfection. We’ll shape things together."

Yura smiled for the first time since morning.

"Thank you."

Dayo stepped away from the glass and checked his phone. A missed call notification flashed briefly, then disappeared.

Min-Jae noticed.

"You good?"

"Yeah," Dayo said. "Just business."

"U.S.?" Min-Jae asked.

Dayo nodded.

"Valeria."

Min-Jae whistled.

"Figures."

"I’ll call her later," Dayo added. "For now, execution starts here."

Min-Jae stood up.

"Alright. I’ll clear the schedule and inform the other artists. You’re really doing this, huh?"

Dayo looked back at Yura, who had already put her headphones back on and resumed practicing, this time with more confidence.

"Yes," he said. "It’s time."

Min-Jae shook his head with a smile.

"Every time I think I understand you, you surprise me again."

Dayo replied evenly,

"If I stopped surprising you, you’d get lazy."

Min-Jae laughed.

"You really are something else."

The beat restarted in the booth. Yura’s voice followed—still rough, still learning, but no longer uncertain.

Dayo listened quietly.

Then he looked at Min-Jae and said. "Min-Jae don’t forget to call all the listed artist of the album."

Min-Jae looked a bit confused and asked. "Eh why ?."

Dayo smiled. "You’re forgetful as always there are about four more songs that need features so...."

"Ah that’s true so how do you plan on selecting them ?." Min-Jae asked already knowing the kind of answer to expect.

"You don’t worry about that leave that to me." Dayo said

"You don’t worry about that leave that to me." Min-Jae said along with him.

"...."

"...."

Dayo looked at Min-Jae suprised.

Min-Jae laughed."Haha i already expected that answer as you give me all the time in situation like this."

Dayo felt a bit embarrassed at the situation after all he can’t tell Min-Jae that he has a powerful system inside his head that gives abilities to see trend and talents.

He was sure Min-Jae would freak out or probably call him a idiot playful ans wouldn’t belive it so it was best to just keep playing it mysterious.

"Alright fine you win but i can’t tell you my secret else its not a secrete so dont worrry leave that to me." Dayo said shameless.

To which Min-Jae just locked eyes with Dayo for a few seconds before bursting into a full blown laughter together.

And that was how the conversation ended it was not that Min-Jae didn’t want to push and know the answer but he knew Dayo wouldn’t spill.

So why bother.
