Chapter 286: Talk with Jeff

The moment after the celebration passed quietly.

There was no rush. No pressure hanging over Dayo’s head for the first time in a long while. He took a bus that evening although his head was clear to fruve but he didn’t want any mistake, sitting by the window, watching the city move past him in its usual rhythm. People heading to their home after a long day at worm, vendors closing up their stores. cars honking impatiently. Everything felt normal again.

He leaned back slightly, exhaling.

He finally reached his house and took his shower.

Then his phone vibrated.

He checked the screen and smiled immediately.

Mom.

He answered the call without hesitation.

"Hello, Mom."

Before she could even finish greeting him, his father’s voice joined in from the background.

"So you’ve finally finished the movie?" his dad asked.

Dayo laughed softly. "Yes. It’s done. Completely done.. Eh but wait who told you guys that it was done?."

"Oh that was Min-Jae he called earlier tellinh us to wish you luck." His mom said.

Dayo smiled but shook his head. " Yeah ot course he is the one."

Min-Jae also came to celebrate him which was a suprise now that he thought of it Min-Jae called him earlier to tell him that what he planned earlier was ready.

Which was wired but he didn’t see anything wrong but the reason he called was to probably confirm Dayo’s location so that the suprise wouldn’t be ruined.

There was a short pause on the other end, then excitement broke out.

"Thank God," his mom said warmly. "We’ve been praying."

His sister’s voice jumped in next. "Finally! Do you know how many times you’ve said ’almost done’?"

Dayo shook his head with a smile. "I know, I know."

"So when are you coming back?" his sistwr asked. "You’ve been away too long."

"I will," Dayo replied with a laugh. "Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten. I promise I’ll be back soon."

His sister squealed like she was caught red handed "No no no... that’s not the reason why I am asking you when you’re coming."

Dayo laughed harder as he teased her by saying. "Yes I know that’s not the reason don’t worry."

His sister was swelling with anger and shouted. " Mom see Dayo is bullying me."

Abisola just shook her head at their antique and said."Dayo behave like a senior brother and stop bullying your junior sister eh."

Dayo could have swore that he saw his sister’s tongue outside like she was making jest of him.

Dayo final.calm down and replied. "Okay ma thanks for checking up ma i appreciate."

His mom sighed in relief. "That’s all we wanted to hear."

They talked for a while. Nothing heavy. Just family conversation. How everyone was doing. Small updates. Jokes. Laughter. The kind of talk that didn’t demand anything from him except being present.

Eventually, Dayo said, "Okay, let me let you guys go."

"Wait," his dad said. "Let me pass the phone to your brother he just came him and he wants to talk to you."

There was a brief shuffle.

"Jeffrey," Dayo said immediately.

"Bro," Jeffrey replied. "What’s up?"

"How’s training going?" Dayo asked as he settled down on his chair.

Jeffrey exhaled loudly. "Man... I’m not going to lie to you. I don’t know how you do it."

Dayo leaned forward slightly waiting to hear his complain.

"You train seriously," Jeffrey continued, "and still keep music on the side. And not just keep it — excel at it both on an exceptional level which is crazy. Sometimes I feel like my body is there, but my mind is everywhere I want do it i really want to."

Dayo nodded slowly, even though Jeffrey couldn’t see him.

"It’s consistency," Dayo said. "You already have the body. You already have the skill. What you need is focus. You have to design your routine and commit to it."

Jeffrey laughed weakly. "That sounds easy when you say it."

"That’s the problem," Dayo replied calmly. "You think it’s supposed to feel easy. It’s not."

There was silence on the line like he knew the truth.

"Look," Dayo continued, "you have the outlet. You have the platform. You have the coach. And not just any coach — the head coach of the National team of the United Nation. Do you know how many athletes would die for that opportunity?"

"I know," Jeffrey said quietly.

"There’s pressure, yes," Dayo added. "But everything is laid out for you. What you do with it is your choice. If you want this, go all in. If not, step back and be honest with yourself."

Jeffrey inhaled slowly.

"Bro," he said, his voice serious now, "I was actually thinking of quitting."

Dayo’s expression didn’t change.

"The pressure was getting to me," Jeffrey continued. "But hearing this from you... it helped. A lot."

"That’s what I’m here for," Dayo said simply. "I’m your brother."

"Thank you," Jeffrey replied. "Seriously."

"Anytime."

They ended the call not long after.

That night, Dayo slept deeply.

No dreams. No stress. Just rest.

The next morning came quietly.

He followed his usual routine. A light jog. A shower. Breakfast. Nothing forced. Nothing rushed.

As he finished eating, he picked up his key ready to go ro the set....

when remembered.

The movie was finished.

No shoots. No rehearsals. No meetings.

"Ah what do I do now?." He layed down.

He reached for his phone, scrolling aimlessly for a moment.

Then he paused.

"...I don’t actually have anything scheduled today," he muttered.

The thought felt strange.

Then another thought followed.

Why not stream?

It had been a long time. Too long.

He unlocked his phone and opened the app.

His finger hovered over the stream button for a second.

Then he tapped it.

The screen refreshed.

Notifications exploded instantly.

Comments began flooding in faster than he could read.

"WAIT—IS THIS REAL??"

"NO WAY."

"DAYO IS STREAMING???"

"FINALLY."

"BRO DISAPPEARED FOR AGES."

"WE THOUGHT YOU DIED."

"THIS IS NOT A DRILL."

The viewer count climbed rapidly.

He smiled faintly, adjusting his posture.

The stream was live.

And the world was already waiting.
